A bride who was jilted by her groom at her wedding ended up marrying a guest at the wedding.

The bride, named Sindhu from the Bangalore region in India, was supposed to be marrying a man named Naveen. The ceremony was taking place on the same day as Naveen’s brother’s wedding so the families were holding them simultaneously.

The wedding was set for Sunday 3 January and the day before, Naveen and Sindhu participated in pre-wedding events such as posing for pictures and receiving greetings from guests. However when the wedding commenced the next day, Naveen was nowhere to be found. Local media reports claimed that Naveen had a secret girlfriend and fled the wedding to be with her since she had allegedly threatened to spoil the wedding by drinking poison in front of the guests.

Naveen’s brother, Ashok, went ahead with his marriage but then the families were left wondering where Naveen was and did not know how to continue.

Sindhu’s family members decided that she would still be able to wed if they could find an eligible person among the guests.

A Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) conductor, who was present at the wedding, volunteered to marry Sindhu if both the families agreed.

They all met, finalised the wedding vows and Sindhu still managed to get married at the wedding after all.

Mark Levin's Bosses Tell Him to Shut Up about "Stolen Elections" or Get Fired

 The ownership group for several talk radio hosts across the country, including syndicated figures like Mark Levin and Dan Bongino, says its personalities need to tone things down or face firing.

Cumulus Media content chief Brian Philips sent an email to managers Wednesday, the day of the U.S. Capitol riot, saying the company had to help induce calm.

“There will be no dog whistles about ‘stolen elections,’ ‘civil wars’ or any other language that infers violent public disobedience is warranted, ever,” said the memo, first reported by Inside Music Media.

The memo said Cumulus would not tolerate any suggestion by its on-air personalities that the presidential election is not over.

“Please inform your staffs that we have ZERO TOLERANCE for any suggestion otherwise,” Philips said in the memo.

The company did not immediately respond to an AP request for comment Monday.

Cumulus owns 416 radio stations in 86 markets across the country, along with the syndication arm Westwood One.

 An elderly Palestinian man was arrested in the village of Deir Jarir near Ramallah on Sunday morning on charges of rioting against IDF forces, Palestinian media reported.

Despite his age, the man, lauded by Palestinian media outlets as a hero, joined rioters decades younger than him in hurling rocks at IDF forces.

He was also videoed fighting with a local Jewish resident. Some media outlets dubbed him “The Sheikh of the Mountain.”

A popular rabbi urged his followers not to be vaccinated against the coronavirus, warning them that doing so, it might "turn them" into homosexuals.

Rabbi Daniel Asor's assertion goes against decrees issued by leading rabbis in Israel and around the world, who have called on ultra-Orthodox society to take every precaution against the global pandemic, including getting vaccinated.

The Haredi community has recorded extremely high morbidity rates due to repeated flouting of social distancing directives. 

Asor, who has tens of thousands of followers on social media, is no stranger to controversy. In his latest online sermons, he argued that "any vaccine made using an embryonic substrate, and we have evidence of this, causes opposite tendencies. Vaccines are taken from an embryonic substrate, and they did that here, too, so ... it can cause opposite tendencies."

Cop Arrested following Interrogation in Killing of Ahuvya Sandak

 One of the policemen involved in the Ahuvya Sandak affair was arrested on Saturday by the Police internal affairs unit on suspicion of obstructing the investigation. The arrest comes against the background of weeks of protests and harsh criticism of the investigation the boy’s death allegedly when the car he was in was rammed by a chasing patrol car. Two more police officers were questioned on Saturday by the Department for Internal Investigations (aka: Machash / Department for Investigations of Policemen/ DIP) regarding the accident itself. One more officer was supposed to be questioned but is in coronavirus quarantine.

Israeli Driver’s License Valid Till Age 70, Effective Oct. 1, 2021

 

Good news for drivers. Effective October 1, 2021, drivers will be issued a driver’s license up to the age of 70, instead of having to renew their license every 10 years, as they do today. 

This comes as part of a reform promoted by the Ministry of Transportation in Israel.

As part of the reform, the driver’s license currently issued to drivers of private vehicles, motorcycles and commercial vehicles up to 12 tons, will be valid until the age of 70, instead of its current 10-year listing. 

After the age of 70, the license will be renewed every five years until the age of 80, after which the license will be renewed every two years as is already customary.

The cost of issuing a driver’s license up to the age of 70 will be NIS 510.

“This is a saving of about NIS 1,500 per driver,” said Transportation Minister Miri Regev. “This is besides the hassle required of drivers today to renew a driver’s license every 10 years, from the age of 24 to the age of 70.”

Regev noted that Israel joins many European countries where driving licenses are issued indefinitely or until the age of 70 without the need to renew the license.

“I am happy to implement significant decisions in a short period of time that will affect the face of Israeli society in the coming decade,” she said. 

“Today we are taking another step towards implementing an important reform. . . which will save bureaucracy and financial expense for every citizen,” Regev added.

It was 1961, and Margaret Erle was 16 and pregnant. She knew her Jewish immigrant parents would not approve. Yet she remained hopeful. She was a good girl: didn’t smoke, didn’t drink, donated her babysitting money to war orphans in Israel. And she and the baby’s father, her high-school sweetheart, George Katz, planned to marry. Margaret ended up marrying George, and the couple had three more children and moved to suburban New Jersey. But she always wondered about her lost son.

BLM Instigator Found at Capitol Chaos, Claims He Came to ‘See The Truth About Protests’

 

A Utah BLM activist who faces criminal charges in connection with a Provo protest he organized in Juneת claims he attended the pro-Trump rally which turned into a violent attack on the U.S. Capitol in order to see “the truth” about the protests for himself and the organization he represents.

“For me, it’s important from the group and the people around me to see that side of things, to see the truth,” John Sullivan said Wednesday night. “I don’t care, like what side you’re on, you should just see it raw.”

However footage from the video he posted to his social media sites belied his assertion that he was “only filming” and did not participate in the action, since he can be heard in the video encouraging people to join them as they push their way through police barricades.

Sullivan is a prominent left-wing activist and founder of Insurgence USA, a social justice group that calls itself anti-fascist and protests police brutality. He also claimed that his presence at the rally was intended to “support the Black community”  adding that it was “important to understand” those who were protesting in support of President Donald Trump.

Just after people broke into the building, Sullivan — wearing a gas mask and wielding an iPhone on a stabilizing stick — and a woman who said Wednesday that she was making a documentary on Sullivan, are on the first porch area outside the entrance looking back over the throngs of people around the Capitol. They can be heard encouraging people to climb the wall, saying, “Come on. Let’s go!” as well as other statements in favor of the protesters storming the Capitol.

IMPORTANT – READ THIS: Should We Be Leaving WhatsApp?

 As you may have already seen, the world of social media has recently gone up in flames. Twitter has shut down Donald Trump’s account, Apple banned ‘Parler’, the conservative social media platform, from their app store, and WhatsApp is forcing users to adhere to obscure terms and conditions.

So, does this mean all the popular social media platforms will now censor all of our content?

It is scary to see how Twitter is handling the situation. Even Apple. But we’re going to focus on how what’s currently going on with WhatsApp is extremely different.

With WhatsApp’s new “terms and conditions” many WhatsApp users understandably assumed that this meant WhatsApp had finally crossed a line, requiring data-sharing with no alternative. But in truth, the company says that the privacy policy deletion simply reflects how WhatsApp has shared data with Facebook since 2016 for the vast majority of its now 2 billion-plus users.

However, we need to keep in mind that none of this has, at any point, impacted one of WhatsApp’s prime features: end-to-end encryption. Messages, photos, and other content you send and receive on WhatsApp can only be viewed on your smartphone and the devices of the people you choose to message with. WhatsApp and Facebook itself cannot access your communications. In fact, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has repeatedly affirmed his commitment to expanding end-to-end encryption offerings as part of tying the company’s different communication platforms together. This privacy feature doesn’t mean there isn’t still a trove of other data WhatsApp can collect and share about you and how you utilize their platform. The company states that it collects user information “to operate, provide, improve, understand, customize, support, and market our Services.”

So what do all those terms mean? Is it time to panic? Should we be switching to other apps like Telegram and Signal?

The short answer is no. The long answer is also no. If you read the terms and conditions for the app Signal, you’ll notice that it’s extremely similar to WhatsApp’s. Is it worth it to switch? Probably not. As for Telegram, there’s an extreme danger that the frum world isn’t taking into account.

I currently co-host a podcast called ‘Meaningful People‘ with my friend, Nachi Gordon. We sit down each week with the frum communities’ most influential people and talk to them about their lives. A year ago, I was doing research online and discovered that Telegram is home to many “groups” that act as great sources of information. Not knowing much about the app, I downloaded it hoping to discover said ‘groups’ dedicated to podcasting and interviewing. Instead, I was horrified. While Telegram may seem like a similar platform to WhatsApp, it is also “open to the public”. This means, almost anyone can search for and join groups dealing with illegal drugs, “filth”, and other dark web media. What makes it so dangerous is that it’s so easy to accidentally stumble into these groups or “people nearby your area” (a feature that allows you to connect with any telegram user nearby). On our episode with Rabbi Yaakov Bender, Rosh HaYeshiva of Darchei Torah, (back in early 2020) he even mentioned the dangers of Telegram’s ability to send extremely large uncensored files.

Many people have been ditching WhatsApp and switching over to Telegram without recognizing the potential danger involved.

So what should you do?

There are really only two options:
1) Stick with WhatsApp and continue to let them tap into the data that you’ve basically already been allowing them access to for the past four years.
Or
2) Completely boycott Apple, Google, Amazon, Microsft, and all social media platforms. Big tech uses your data to understand you better. Contrary to popular conspiracy theories, there likely isn’t some nefarious scheme to read all your texts, download all your photos, and ultimately clone your brain for the next generation of AI bionic beings.

One thing is certain. Hashem has more data on you than you can imagine.

 On Oct. 18, 2020, Twitter banned the account of Dr. Scott Atlas for defending President Donald Trump’s position on mask mandates. In his tweet, he cited scientific studies, and the tweet contained absolutely no false information.

Also in October, Twitter banned the account of The New York Post for accurately reporting on a story about Hunter Biden’s laptop. Today we know these were just the first salvos in this evil company’s assault on American liberty.

For all its talk about safety, community, and the health of discourse, we see today that Twitter acts in favor of one interest and one interest alone: its own, even when it means destabilizing the American people. On Friday, the company permanently banned Trump from its platform and began a purge of conservative voices.

They claim this is needed to protect America from a coup. That is a farcical lie. They did it because their political enemies such as Trump and Sen. Josh Hawley are now out of power, and they mean to keep it way.

FLASHBACK: Just Months Ago, Democrats Blocked a Resolution Condemning Mob Violence

 When a mob of rioters stormed the U.S. Capitol building on Thursday, leaders from both political parties universally condemned the historic act of political violence.

“To those who wreaked havoc in our Capitol today- you did not win,” Vice-President Mike Pence stated to the chamber shortly after the rioters were expelled from the building by police using tear gas and percussion grenades. “Violence never wins.” He was joined by the Republican senators across the board, including those who had backed plans to object to the election’s certification.

After months ignoring and justifying Black Lives Matter and Antifa riots, Democrats also condemned the Capitol violence. “This assault is just that. It shows the weakness of those who’ve had to show through violence what their message was,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said.

The great crisis that is now happening in the United States did not begin with the break-in to Capitol Hill. It began with the Democrats’ lack of confidence in the presidency of Trump expressed in stormy demonstrations across the US, and his being labeled in every possible derogatory way.

The crisis continues in the great distrust of many of the Republicans in what they see as false election results that led to the break-in to the core of the government while the electoral votes for Biden were being confirmed.

With great sadness we can remember this event as part of the process of America descending from the stage of history. It's a sad moment, but it's happening.

DemocRats' hypocrisy: Censorship under the guise of enlightenment

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi currently has just one thing on her mind: impeaching President Donald Trump. Because Vice President Mike Pence won’t support invoking the 25th Amendment, which would strip Trump of his presidential powers, she intends to launch a quick impeachment vote with the backing of her friends in Congress if he doesn’t resign willingly.

As Republican leaders don’t plan on backing the initiative (at least that’s what they decided behind closed doors), it is destined to fail—similar to the attempt to disqualify some of the Electoral College votes last week. Hence, Pelosi is doing precisely what she accuses Trump of doing—dividing America when the one thing it needs is to unite. Even more so with just days remaining until the end of his term.

In an interview with 60 Minutes, Pelosi didn’t mince words, calling the president “deranged,” “unhinged” and “dangerous.”

The big question is where Pelosi was during the riots and looting across the U.S. this past summer. The Democrats’ hypocrisy in this context knows no bounds. Trump’s speech to his supporters before the storming of the Capitol on Jan. 6 was a bad mistake, but the Democrats are now making it worse. (And let’s not forget that Pelosi herself harmed the congressional institution, even if not physically, when she tore up Trump’s State of the Union address on live TV in front of tens of millions of Americans.)

Twitter decided on Friday to shut down Trump’s Twitter account indefinitely, after initially suspending it for 12 hours on Jan. 6. The decision reverberated across the United States and the entire globe, as the president’s Twitter account is perhaps his main tool for communicating with the American public; he has 88 million followers. Twitter’s stock plummeted and Trump’s many supporters—74 million of whom voted for him, it’s important to note—furiously accused the social media giant of censoring one side of the political divide.

Just a reminder: While the president’s Twitter account is disabled, Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, continues using the platform to deny the Holocaust and disseminate his doctrine of hate.

These days, conservatives in the United States believe the best way to fight the social media networks is to establish competing networks of their own and weaken the monopolies of Twitter, Facebook and Instagram—which all blocked the president’s official accounts.

The blocking of Trump’s account on Friday came after two additional tweets of his: In one he called his supporters “patriots” and in the second he said he wouldn’t attend president-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration.

Apple, Amazon join Google in suspending Parler

 Amazon joined tech giants Apple and Google in taking swift action against Parler, the social media platform favored by President Trump’s supporters, by suspending the app from being active on its servers on Saturday.

Jeff Bezos’ company kicked Parler off its web hosting services, meaning that if Parler doesn’t find another host, the social media platform will go offline starting Sunday, BuzzFeed News reported.

In an email obtained by the outlet, Amazon told Parler’s chief policy officer that the app’s content inciting violence violated its terms of service.

“Recently, we’ve seen a steady increase in this violent content on your website, all of which violates our terms. It’s clear that Parler does not have an effective process to comply with the AWS terms of service. [W]e cannot provide services to a customer that is unable to effectively identify and remove content that encourages or incites violence against others,” the email says.

“Because Parler cannot comply with our terms of service and poses a very real risk to public safety, we plan to suspend Parler’s account effective Sunday, January 10th, at 11:59PM PST,” the email continues.

Earlier Saturday, Apple also suspended Parler, which describes itself as “unbiased social media,” from it’s application store, citing it has failed to follow Apple’s guidelines by not removing harmful content from the platform.

“Parler has not taken adequate measures to address the proliferation of these threats to people’s safety,” the company said in a statement. “We have suspended Parler from the App Store until they resolve these issues.”

In a letter sent to Parlers’ developers, Apple further states, “Parler has not upheld its commitment to moderate and remove harmful or dangerous content encouraging violence and illegal activity, and is not in compliance with the App Store Review Guidelines.”

The move comes a day after Google banned Parler from being downloaded on its Google Play store.

On Friday, Twitter also permanently suspended President Trump’s personal accountciting “the risk of further incitement of violence.”

“We will try our best to move to a new provider right now as we have many competing for our business, however Amazon, Google and Apple purposefully did this as a coordinated effort knowing our options would be limited and knowing this would inflict the most damage right as President Trump was banned from the tech companies,” Parler CEO John Matze said in a statement.

Charedim respond to financial sanctions, not force

 The coronavirus crisis has turned into a research laboratory that allows us to study the relationship between the ultra-Orthodox (Haredi) community and the state of Israel.

Haredim flock in masses to leading Torah authority Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky for guidance on lockdown-related issues. But the rabbi does not give any answers, or answers each person differently.

On Tuesday, Shas chairman Aryeh Deri abstained from voting when the government was deliberating whether to tighten the lockdown. It is a peculiar event as, until now, Deri has consistently supported the government's lockdown decisions.

Perhaps he realized he could not vote in favor of the lockdown if the very people he represents do not support it. Or maybe Haredi politicians find it increasingly challenging to remain key influencers in the machine that runs the modern Jewish state.

When the government considered closing synagogues on the High Holidays, Deri fought to prevent the vote but failed. Afterward, he ran to every radio station and begged the Haredi public not to worship indoors, but pray outside.

Silence can reflect a political stance, too.

When controversy erupted over continuing the country's vaccination campaign on Shabbat, neither Chief Sephardi Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef nor Shas publicly expressed any opinion. As often happens in their interactions with secularism, they chose to turn a blind eye.

Ingratitude hit new heights this week occurred this week when Maj. Gen. Roni Numa, who is handling the coronavirus in the Haredi sector for the IDF Homefront Command, was attacked the Haredi public after saying in a briefing that the lockdown was not enforced in the ultra-Orthodox community due to political pressure and the upcoming election campaign.

Numa took the concept from the relationship between the Haredim and the military and applied it to the current relationship between the ultra-Orthodox and the coronavirus pandemic.

Since the government is unable to conscript Haredim, it grants them draft deferments and other exemptions that allow them to continue studying and avoid enlistment, legally.

The same with COVID – since the government is incapable of closing Haredi schools and yeshivas, it creates exemptions for them.

But those who say that Haredim should be forced to comply with lockdown restrictions are wrong. Forceful policing is not only ugly, it is ineffective. When the police arrive in Bnei Brak to close a synagogue, half of Bnei Brak goes outside to watch and gets infected while standing in the street.

The only solution is to deny the Haredi community budgets and fine them for violations. IN the first lockdown, when fines for breaking rules were more substantial, many Haredi school principals ran to their rabbis for permission to close the institutions.

Why should the Haredim allow the government to impose fines and deny budgets? Because if they do not, they will continue to clash with police and will end up with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the Opposition, which will see the funds allocated to them by the government shrink much more considerably.

The USA Moving Away From Free Speech as Google Play suspends Parler, Apple threatens to

 The app for a favorite social network of President Trump supporters will no longer be sold on Google Play — and Apple is also threatening to pull it, according to reports.

Parler, which bills itself as “an unbiased social media focused on real user experiences and engagement,” can’t be sold on Google Play until the platform develops some moderation policies, according to Axios Tech Reporter Ashley Gold.

Apple, meanwhile, is giving the app 24 hours to introduce policies before pulling the plug, BuzzFeedNews reports.

“We have received numerous complaints regarding objectionable content in your Parler service, accusations that the Parler app was used to plan, coordinate, and facilitate the illegal activities in Washington D.C. on January 6, 2021 that led (among other things) to loss of life, numerous injuries, and the destruction of property,” Apple wrote to Parler, according to the news site. 

“The app also appears to continue to be used to plan and facilitate yet further illegal and dangerous activities.”

Trump falsely claimed he won the election and was the victim of unsubstantiated election fraud on the Twitter-like service, which gained millions of users after Election Day, according to ABC News.

Google and Apple’s moves against Parler come after Twitter and Facebook suspended the president’s accounts indefinitely.

On Friday, YouTube banned alt-right leader Steve Bannon’s podcast “War Room,” following an appearance by the president’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani where he continued to make baseless claims about election fraud.

On Friday, Twitter suspended the accounts of former Gen. Mike Flynn and lawyer Sidney Powell for spreading the same misinformation.

Jewish woman, 102, describes disturbing memory of her neighbor — Adolf Hitler

 

A Jewish woman who revealed last year that she used to live next door to Adolf Hitler prior to World War II, has provided new details about the Nazi leader’s life.

Alice Frank Stock, who recently turned 102, said that she spent her early years living near Hitler in Munich during the 1920s and 1930s, according to British news agency SWNS. Stock, whose family lived on Prinzregentenplatz, added she saw a coffin coming out of Hitler’s apartment, rumored to contain his niece, Geli Raubal.

“We heard many [rumors], from the cook and others,” Stock said. “We saw a coffin being carried out of the entrance. I think a niece of Hitler’s was living there and then she died. There was speculation of how and when she died. I think there was truth in it that the coffin was carried out and in it was a woman.”

This is Adolf Hitler with his class as he attended high school at the age of 14, circa 1904. Hitler is at the extreme right in the upper row.

Sheldon Adelson Undergoes Cancer Treatment

Las Vegas Sands chairman and CEO Sheldon Adelson is taking a break from the job to undergo cancer treatment.

The billionaire casino magnate and Republican megadonor started a medical leave of absence after resuming his treatment for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, the company said Thursday.

Adelson, 87, first announced in March 2019 that he was being treated for the disease. Las Vegas Sands didn’t disclose how long he would be away, but the company said president and chief operating officer Robert G. Goldstein will serve as acting chairman and CEO in Adelson’s absence.

Adelson’s casino empire has taken a massive hit from the coronavirus pandemic, which essentially emptied the Las Vegas Strip last year and sparked a gambling shutdown in Asia.

In October, Las Vegas Sands said it was considering selling its Vegas properties — the Venetian Resort, the Palazzo and the Sands Expo Center — which would leave it with a half-dozen sites in the larger Asian markets of Macau and Singapore.

Adelson’s family owns more than half of Sands’ stock, and his son-in-law Patrick Dumont is the company’s chief financial officer and executive vice president, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Las Vegas Sands shares dropped 1.1 percent to $57.50 as of 12:58 p.m. Friday after the company announced Adelson’s medical leave.
