Did Gantz Sell Out Israel? Ganz made Deal with Biden for settlement freeze'

A senior settlement leader has accused Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz of cutting a deal with the Biden administration to block Jewish construction in Judea and Samaria.

In a statement released Wednesday morning, Gush Etzion Regional Council head Shlomo Ne’eman said Gantz had already begun to impose the de facto building freeze in Judea and Samaria.

“Benny Gantz has made a deal with the Biden administration to freeze construction in Judea and Samaria and is already implementing the move in practice," said Ne'eman.

“This move crosses one of the strongest red lines amongst the national camp.”

For the past five months the Council of Higher Planning has not met to discuss construction plans in Judea and Samaria. It is Defense Minister Benny Gantz who is preventing the committee from meeting.

“Over the past several weeks the authorities in Judea and Samaria along with the Yesha Council made a humble appeal to Defense Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Gantz to hold a “small” committee meeting, not for major planning but in order to deal with small changes to existing master plans. However our request was completely rejected by Benny Gantz."

“The same Benny Gantz who frequently accuses Netanyahu of deceitful politics is pursuing an independent policy without the prime minister’s knowledge. It turns out that Gantz agreed to a construction freeze with the Biden Administration, even though the new government hasn’t even been formed.”

Ne’eman urged Yamina chief Naftali Bennett and New Hope chairman Gideon Sa’ar not to form a unity government, which Ne'eman argued would empower Gantz to pursue the settlement freeze.

“Naftali Bennett and Gideon Sa'ar, did you think you would run the country? You promised to adhere to ideological red lines of the national camp in the government that is currently being formed. Just know that your defense minister thinks differently and is acting differently. Benny Gantz claims - behind closed doors that he, and only he will be at the head of the political echelons when it comes to what happens in Judea and Samaria. Gantz has already made a deal with the administration in Washington behind the back of the prime minister to implement an Obama-style freeze, which at the time was unprecedented.”

“Neither Bennett nor anyone else will be the liaison with the Americans on construction in Judea and Samaria, only I will decide on policy there.”

“These are his words, and this is how Gantz has been acting for the last several months. To the parties on the right and to the New Hope Party you should know that this move crosses one of the strongest red lines amongst the national camp. You are forming a government that is slated to abuse the Judea and Samaria enterprise, including half a million Israelis living there! You were wrong! But it’s not too late to fix it. Stand at the head of your camp, the national camp. Stand by your principles for the next four and a half years. It is completely in your hands, if you still believe in those principles of course.”

Earlier on Wednesday, the Blue and White party signed a coalition deal with Yesh Atid.

Under the agreement, Benny Gantz will retain the Defense Ministry in the new government.

Isaac Herzog elected as 11th President of Israel

Isaac Herzog, the chairman of the Jewish Agency and former chief of Israel's Labor Party, was elected President of Israel Wednesday.

Israel's parliament voted in a secret ballot Wednesday, beginning at 11:00 a.m. and ending just after noon.

Knesset Speaker Yariv Levin formally opened the special session Wednesday morning, as the candidates made their way to the Knesset plenum.

Israel Prize laureate, bereaved mother, and educator Miriam Peretz faced off against Herzog, the son of Israel’s Sixth President, Chaim Herzog.

After the secret ballots are cast by the Knesset’s 120 MKs, Knesset officials counted the votes, while the plenum session reconvened.

Herzog bested Peretz by a wide margin, receiving 87 votes to Peretz's 26, the Knesset announced Wednesday afternoon. Six MKs abstained from the vote.

Opposition Leader Yair Lapid (Yesh Atid) congratulated Herzog in a statement shortly after the results were released.

"I congratulate my friend, Isaac 'Bougie' Herzog on his election as President of the State of Israel. A worthy and wonderful man who is always focused on the good of the country and the Jewish people. Good luck Mr. President!"

"I also congratulate Miriam Peretz, she will forever be president of the hearts of our people."

US antisemitism far worse than reported, says Malcolm Hoenlein

Antisemitism in the United States is even more pervasive than it appears, Malcolm Hoenlein, vice chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, said Monday.

“It’s worse because the majority of incidents are not reported,” Hoenlein told The Times of Israel at a meeting with staff in Jerusalem alongside the Conference’s chair Dianne Lob and CEO William Daroff.

“We get reports all the time of it. I see it not only in my own community but from rabbis who call me and others. And often the police will not classify it as a hate crime because then the FBI has to come in, and the FBI doesn’t necessarily want to because it’s a lot of paperwork et cetera… But they’re encountering more hostility and the vast majority of incidents don’t go reported even though the number of reports is increasing sharply.”

There has been a drastic spike in antisemitism across the US surrounding the recent conflict in Israel and Gaza.

In New York City, amid dueling pro-Israel and pro-Palestinian rallies earlier in May, Jews were assaulted in the street. In the days following, Jews across New York posted on social media about being threatened, harassed or otherwise attacked for being Jewish. Synagogues in Florida, Illinois and Arizona were targeted. Two antisemitic incidents were caught on video in Los Angeles.

The antisemitic incidents have led some to refrain from wearing Jewish symbols publicly out of fear of being attacked.

The Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations is the umbrella body on international and national issues for 52 US Jewish organizations.

“Antisemitism has really shaken up our community,” Hoenlein emphasized. “The sense of insecurity is pretty widespread, even among sectors that felt that they were not vulnerable to what Orthodox Jews were subject to, in terms of attacks on them because they were visible. Now we’ve seen it everywhere, people being stopped and asked, ‘Are you a Jew?’”

Calling it “pervasive across the country,” Hoenlein said that he is seeing the effects of antisemitism and hatred of Israel in academia, in politics, and in the media.

“We have Jewish members of faculties who are finding themselves and their jobs being put in danger because of being identified as pro-Israel, or not joining the anti-Israel onslaught,” he said.

In the political realm, Hoenlein pointed to New York City mayoral candidate Andrew Yang, who tweeted in support of Israel and condemned Hamas.

Under pressure from local pro-Palestinian activists and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Yang issued a retraction, saying that “my tweet was overly simplistic in my treatment of a conflict that has a long and complex history full of tragedies.” He added that he “failed to acknowledge the pain and suffering of both sides.”

Tamar Zandberg comes under attack after article claims she wants to imprison Chabad members who offer Tefillin to minors

Meretz MK Tamar Zandberg took her family out of their home Tuesday following a string of threats against her and her baby daughter, in the wake of false information published about her proposed legislation to restrict the proselytizing of minors.

The threats came amid protests outside Zandberg’s Tel Aviv home and as other politicians set to become ministers in the so-called change government to be headed by Yamina head Naftali Bennett have been targeted by right-wing activists.

Zandberg, who has been tapped to be environmental protection minister in the prospective coalition, which has yet to be finalized, came under attack after an article on the right-wing news bulletin 0404 site claimed that her bill called for imprisoning Chabad members who offer children to tefillin (phylacteries) to don.

Largest ship in Iranian navy catches fire and sinks

The largest ship in the Iranian navy caught fire and later sank Wednesday in the Gulf of Oman under unclear circumstances, semiofficial news agencies reported.

The Fars and Tasnim news agencies said efforts failed to save the support ship Kharg, named after the island that serves as the main oil terminal for Iran.

The blaze began around 2:25 a.m. and firefighters tried to contain it, Fars said. The vessel sank near the Iranian port of Jask, some 1,270 kilometers (790 miles) southeast of Tehran on the Gulf of Oman near the Strait of Hormuz — the narrow mouth of the Persian Gulf.

Photos circulated on Iranian social media of sailors wearing life jackets evacuating the vessel as a fire burned behind them. State TV and semiofficial news agencies referred to the Kharg as a “training ship.” Fars published video of thick, black smoke rising from the ship early Wednesday morning.

Satellite photos from Planet Labs Inc. analyzed by The Associated Press showed the Kharg off to the west of Jask on Tuesday. Satellites from the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration that track fires from space detected a blaze at the site of the Jask that started just before the time of the fire reported by Fars.

The Kharg serves as one of a few vessels in the Iranian navy capable of providing replenishment at sea for its other ships. It also can lift heavy cargo and serve as a launch point for helicopters. The ship, built in Britain and launched in 1977, entered the Iranian navy in 1984 after lengthy negotiations that followed Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Iranian officials offered no cause for the fire aboard the Kharg. However, it comes after a series of mysterious explosions that began in 2019 targeting ships in the Gulf of Oman. The US Navy later accused Iran of targeting the ships with limpet mines, timed explosives typically attached by divers to a vessel’s hull.

Iran denied targeting the vessels, though US Navy footage showed members of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard removing one unexploded limpet mine from a vessel. The incidents came amid heightened tensions between the US and Iran after then-president Donald Trump unilaterally withdrew America from Tehran’s nuclear deal with world powers.

The sinking of the Kharg marks the latest naval disaster for Iran. In 2020 during an Iranian military training exercise, a missile mistakenly struck a naval vessel near the port of Jask, killing19 sailors and wounding 15. Also in 2018, an Iranian navy destroyer sank in the Caspian Sea.

Irony of Ironies ... The Arab Abbas Won't Join Coalition if there are any PRO-LGBT Support

I have to laugh, when the Chareidie parties were negotiating to be part of the coalition, never was there any discussion about LGBT issues ... they could care less as long as the moisdois were getting the shekels, even though you would think that Chareidim care about Chillul Shabbos, Giyus and LGBT issues ... it wasn't on the agenda and never came up in discussions ...
it looks like it takes an Arab to push "religious" issues...

United Arab List (Ra'am) Chairman MK Mansour Abbas has stated his demands insisted that the new government not include in its basic principles any laws which support the LGBT community.

The proposed government would be comprised of seven parties: Yesh Atid, Yamina, Yisrael Beytenu, Labor, Meretz, Blue and White, and New Hope. However, since it would only number 57 MKs, it would require outside support, which Yesh Atid has requested that the United Arab List, with its four seats, provide.

Abbas' demands will require that several of the center-left parties significantly compromise on the LGBT issue if they wish to form a government without Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Another of Abbas' demands, which is still under discussion, includes the cancellation of the Kaminetz Law and the normalization of the illegal construction in the Arab sector.

Two other issues which the parties still disagree on are the division of the position of Attorney General, and whether Yesh Atid or New Hope should receive the Communications Ministry.

NY AG James Campaigned on ‘persecuting’ Trump and is Following Thru ....

Watch silly Flatbush Girl giggling like a banshie with AG James promising to get Trump!
This James lady is the darling of  Chareidie askanim and pushed her campaign, even though Trump was the best thing to have happened to the Chareidie communities!

Donald Trump Jr. accused New York Attorney General Letitia James Tuesday of leading a “political persecution” against his father, former President Donald Trump, with her office’s investigation of the Trump Organization.

“I think it’s a political persecution, and I know that because she literally campaigned on it,” the 45th president’s eldest son told Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight”, referring to James’ 2018 campaign to be elected state AG. “She was going to investigate the crimes. The problem is, it wasn’t as though she was a part of this office. She had no idea.

“But in New York, it’s OK to try to persecute your political enemies, to try to target them, to try to hurt them, and they’ve been doing that for over five years,” Trump Jr. added. “So five years, no actual crime. They’re in search of a crime. They’ve been trying to investigate, to create a crime, because that’s what you’re doing in New York. Again, shouldn’t surprise us anymore, but if this was going on in a banana republic, we’d be outraged.”

James’ office revealed on May 15 that its investigation of the Trump Organization was being conducted “in a criminal capacity, along with the Manhattan DA.”

The state has been investigating the Trump Org since 2019 after the former president’s onetime personal attorney, Michael Cohen, testified to Congress that Trump exaggerated the value of his financial assets in order to help score more favorable terms on loans and insurance policies.

Last week, The Washington Post reported that Vance had convened a grand jury to examine potential criminal charges stemming from his investigation, which is focusing on similar allegations of insurance and bank fraud.

That report drew an angry response from the elder Trump, who called the New York investigation “a continuation of the greatest Witch Hunt in American history” and “an affront to the almost 75 million voters who supported me in the Presidential Election.”

“In New York, crime is going through the roof. Taxes are going to go through the roof. Property values are going down, murder rates are skyrocketing,” Trump Jr. said Tuesday. “And yet, rather than using taxpayer dollars to actually go and solve those issues to prevent the degeneration of New York even further, they’re gonna continue to spend those taxpayer dollars targeting their enemies, and that’s pretty disgusting.”

James’ office did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Jewish Group Recite Kaddish For Hamas, Islamic Jihad Terrorists

An anti-Israel Self-Hating Jewish American group recited Kaddish for Gazan terrorists killed during Operation Guardian of the Walls at a demonstration in Los Angeles on Thursday, The Jerusalem Post reported.

IfNotNow, a movement founded during Operation Protective Edge in 2014 to protest Israel’s actions in Gaza and “to end the Israeli occupation,” displayed a banner at the demonstration with the names of the Palestinian and Israeli victims of the conflict and recited Kaddish for them.

Joe Truzman, a research analyst for The Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD), noted that the list of people for whom the group recited Kaddish included a number of Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists, including Mohammad al-Ata, the brother of Abu al-Ata, an Islamic Jihad leader who was responsible for a number of attacks against Israel and was eliminated by an Israeli airstrike in November 2019.
