The Chareidi community in Kiryat Gat is reeling in shock from the murder of a 14-year-old boy by his father, 37, who apparently was in the throes of some type of mental fit.
A large number of rescue forces arrived at the family’s villa close to midnight on Wednesday night after the mother called and reported that her husband is stabbing their son. The emergency medical services performed CPR and evacuated the boy to Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon in critical condition, where the doctors declared his death.
The father fled the scene prior to the arrival of security forces but he was found after an extensive search in the woods behind his home. He was arrested for suspected murder and will be transferred for a psychiatric evaluation.
There are varying accounts of who called the police, with some reports saying the 13-year-old sister called the police, and the mother was heard screaming and crying in the background, and others saying that the mother called the police.
The mother later said that her husband, a Gerrer chassid and businessman, arrived home in a furious mood and began to wreak violence.
Members of the Gerrer community in Kiryat Gat were in utter shock after hearing the horrific news. “I know the father as a neighbor,” one man told Kan News. ” He’s a very refined person, he davens in the local shul. We never had any incidents with him. They say that he suffered some type of nerve attack and suddenly went crazy.”

A 40-page complaint dated Feb. 17 seeking civil forfeiture describes a pattern of activity in which Dank Vapes and Dankwoods – which manufacture and distribute THC cartridges in California – funnel funds through Tibor’s Kosher Meats.
“The Major Crimes Task Force is conducting an investigation of Eyton Senders and Justen Balay and others who have been involved in an interstate drug trafficking and money laundering operation,” U.S. Attorney Henry F. DeBaggis, II wrote in his complaint seeking civil forfeiture. “Tibor’s is another entity in which (Eyton) Senders is using to launder his illicit drug proceeds. This business, similar to other businesses listed in this affidavit, allows Senders a place to legitimize his ill-gotten gains.”

Sixteen Chassidim, including a group of five from New York en route to Vienna, were detained in the airport in Frankfurt on their way to Vienna last week for no apparent reason and were held for over 10 hours.
The incident was publicized by the Jewish rights group Americans Against Antisemitism (AAA), founded by former state Assemblyman Dov Hikind.
“As soon as I gave my papers over to the officer, he looks at me, he says to me, ‘Are you all five together?’” one of the detained men said. “And I said, ‘Yes.’ And he said, ‘You need to step aside.’”
“Two more people who are on our flight arrive there,” he said. “They went over with their papers and immediately were told to stand next to us as well. So, we immediately saw that this is a Jewish thing.
“Nobody [else] was stopped for more than a minute,” he said. “Looked at the document, ‘Next.’ Seven Jews, Chasidic Jews, were told to stand aside.”
The Chassidim were offered no explanation on why they were detained. Their passports were confiscated and they were subjected to interrogation.
One of the men eventually called the U.S. Embassy and was told that the German authorities were investigating their paperwork as it may be fraudulent.
Calling the embassy seems to have done the trick and after over ten hours of harassment, the Chassidim were allowed to continue on their travels without any explanation for their detention. However, they were first forced to first sign disclaimers clearing the German authorities of any wrongdoing. Some of the Chassidim refused to do but were nevertheless eventually let go.
“Some of the Chassidim were pulled aside and harshly interrogated,” Hikind said in a statement.
“It’s unconscionable for something like this to happen to innocent people anywhere, but even more so to identifiable Jews in Germany, of all places.”
“They reached out to share their story with me,” he continued. “I can tell you the trauma and pain they suffered is scarring and traumatic, so we are calling on the German government to investigate this appalling treatment of [these] innocent people immediately.”

A man was arrested late Wednesday on suspicion of stabbing and killing his 14-year-old son in the southern city of Kiryat Gat, police said.
Magen David Adom medics who arrived at the family home found the boy in a critical condition and took him to the Barzilai hospital in Ashkelon, while trying to resuscitate him. However, he later died of his wounds.
The boy’s mother told police that the father, 37, had stabbed him and fled the home. After a brief manhunt, officers found and arrested the man in a nearby wooded area, police said.
According to the Ynet website, the mother told police that the father “had a psychotic attack,” picked up a knife and stabbed the boy without any reason.
Local social services workers were at the scene trying to assist the mother and several other children.
Magen David Adom medics called the incident “very difficult,” and said they found the boy lying unconscious, without a pulse and with several wounds to the body.

A terrible tragedy occurred in Israel on Wednesday with the news of the passing of Reb Meir Fein, z’l, at Shaarei Tzedek Hospital in Jerusalem at the age of 23, less than a year after his wedding.
The niftar is the great-grandson of Rosh Yeshivas Torah V’Daas in New York, HaRav Reuven Fein, z’t, and HaRav Shlomo Zalman Sonnenfeld, z’tl.
The niftar was hospitalized in critical condition after being found unconscious on Friday night hours after drinking alcohol earlier in the day on Purim and a few weeks after recovering from the coronavirus.
However, according to a B’Chadrei Chareidim report, Meir drank only a moderate amount of alcohol on Purim 12 hours before he collapsed.
According to doctors, he may have suffered a post-coronavirus heart attack, exacerbated by his drinking. He had celebrated Purim on Friday in Bnei Brak, where he resided, and then traveled to his parents’ home in Ramot before Shabbos, where the incident occurred.
R’ Meir, z’l, was born and grew up in Ramot. His father, Rav Mordechai Fein, is a Mashgiach in Yeshivas Ziv Yisrael in Nachlaot, and his grandfather, Rav Shabtai Fein is a Rosh Mesivta in Yeshivas Tiferes HaTalmud.
