 Halie Soifer, the CEO of the Jewish Democratic Council of America, claimed Tuesday that Ambassador Richard Grenell had “emboldened actual neo-Nazis” — and she was promptly met by criticism from Jewish leaders and conservatives.

Grenell has served as U.S. Ambassador to Germany, playing a crucial role in pushing Europe to isolate Iran and to declare Hezbollah a terrorist organization, among other achievements. He also served as Acting Director of National Intelligence, becoming the first LGBTQ American to be appointed to a Cabinet role.

Soifer was commenting on President Donald Trump’s decision Tuesday to appoint Grenell to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council, which supports the U.S. Holocaust Museum.

Soifer tweeted: “Today, Trump appointed Richard Grenell to the Holocaust Memorial Council. As US Amy to Germany, Grenell sought to ’empower’ far-right parties & anti-establishment conservatives in Europe. Others have been unqualified, but he’s emboldened actual neo-Nazis.”

Soifer linked to an article by the BBC in which Germans were described as having criticized Grenell for comments on the success of conservative parties across Europe.

Grenell made his comments in an interview with Breitbart News. He said: “I absolutely want to empower other conservatives throughout Europe, other leaders. I think there is a groundswell of conservative policies that are taking hold because of the failed policies of the left.”

He never supported far-right parties, nor did the BBC interview mention “neo-Nazis.”

Hilarious... Biden Furious that Twitter won't transfer Trump's followers to his @Potus account

Joe Biden, who had difficulty having anyone come to any of his events, whose “rallies” may have had those poor little social distancing circles, just not a lot of supporters, is now really upset that Twitter wouldn’t just turn over to him the presidential Twitter account with President Donald Trump’s massive number of followers.

Twitter has decided that while they are turning over the @POTUS and @WhiteHouse accounts to Biden, the account followers will be wiped to zero, that followers will be notified of the change of account and given the choice if they want to continue to follow. Some media initially falsely claimed this was the president’s decision, but Twitter made it clear that it was theirs and theirs alone.

Biden’s transition team gave a statement to CNN, complaining about not getting the followers who Trump had built up.

“Twitter’s reluctance to transfer millions of followers from the Trump Administration to the Biden Administration unnecessarily politicizes what otherwise should be a routine transfer of communication from one administration to the next,” spokesperson Cameron French declared.

Trump has over 33 million followers on the @POTUS account and 26 million on the @WhiteHouse account.

Twitter apparently told the Biden people their decision was unequivocal and they didn’t give any reason why. Perhaps they are worried that the followers would just be constantly lighting Biden up and so that was the easiest way to stop that?

The Biden folks are clearly worried that he would have to get his own followers. After all, who wants to follow a Biden account that Biden likely wouldn’t even be tweeting from most of the time? With Trump, you always knew it was Trump. But with Biden it will be some boring functionary trying to say the proper thing… and not Joe. But even if they transferred the followers over, many Trump followers said they would just unfollow the account.

Palestinian Cleric "Paskens" that Women May Not Travel to Dubai Without Male Chaperone

 

While Israelis are flocking to Dubai in the wake of the normalization agreement between the Jewish state and the United Arab Emirates, the Palestinian Authority’s top cleric has ruled that women cannot travel there without a male chaperone.

According to Palestinian Media Watch, Grand Mufti Muhammad Hussein made his comments while being interviewed on official PA television earlier this month.

On the program Fatwa, Hussein was asked about a hypothetical man whose “wife wants to travel to Dubai with her daughters without the presence of an accompanying man from her family — is this allowed?”

Hussein replied, “There has to be an accompanying man from her family on the trip.”

Hussein, who was appointed directly by PA President Mahmoud Abbas, has a history of making misogynist statements. In one interview, he was asked if a woman could refuse to have sex with her husband, and replied, “It is his right.”

“This woman may not and has no rights to deny him this right, especially during the permissible time, which is night time,” Hussein asserted.

Itamar Marcus, director of Palestinian Media Watch, said of Hussein’s latest comments, “It’s tragic that the PA still treats their women this way. Once again the PA leadership is failing their people.”

Blue and White official hired private spies to trail Frum Minister Yankelevich

 

A senior member of Blue and White hired private detectives last year to follow MK Omer Yankelevich, also a member of the party, without the knowledge of party leader Benny Gantz, according to a Friday report.

Yankelevich said she noticed she was being followed after returning to Israel from a trip to New York in July 2019, Channel 12 reported. She was an MK at the time and is now the minister of Diaspora affairs.

The report did not cite its sources or speculate on the motives for tailing Yankelevich. It came a day after a report by the same outlet dropped hints about alleged ties between the minister and Gantz.

Gantz’s Israel Resilience party, which merged with the Yesh Atid and Telem parties to form Blue and White in April 2019, denied any involvement in the incident, the report said.

“No official from Israel Resilience has ever hired people to follow anyone,” the party said.

The Yesh Atid and Telem parties split from Blue and White after Gantz, who serves as defense minister, decided to enter a unity government with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu earlier this year. There was no comment from either of the other factions.

Blue and White shed most of its public support following the agreement with Netanyahu’s Likud, and the resulting unity government collapsed earlier this week, sending Israel to its fourth round of elections in under two years.

Yankelevich’s claim that she was followed was first revealed by Channel 12’s “Uvda” investigatory program on Thursday. The report focused on Gantz as well as a scheme by a partner of Netanyahu’s lawyer to smear judges in the premier’s trial on corruption charges.

The Friday report noted that Yankelevich also angered other Blue and White lawmakers last month over her support for legalizing West Bank settlement outposts.

During a Blue and White party meeting, MK Asaf Zamir attacked Yankelevich, saying she was causing “political damage” to the party at a time when the country seemed likely to be heading to early elections.

Zamir resigned from his position as tourism minister in October, citing the passage of controversial legislation to restrict protests during a coronavirus lockdown and what he said was Netanyahu’s focus on his legal woes.

He was one of several lawmakers from Blue and White and Netanyahu’s Likud party who torpedoed a bill this week that would have deferred a deadline for passing a state budget and averted elections, at least temporarily.

Heimishe Clinic Under Investigation No Longer Offering Covid Vaccines

 A network of health clinics owned by a Hasidic man and serving a number of Hasidic communities in Brooklyn and upstate New York which is is under investigation for administering COVID-19 vaccines to members of the general public, is no longer giving out shots.

The NY Post sent a reporter Sunday to ask for an injection, but was told they no longer offered it, and the clinic posted a sign on their front door saying “No Vaccines”.

As reported on VIN News, the New York State health commissioner Howard Zucker announced the investigation into ParCare Community Health Network on Saturday, saying in a statement that the clinics may have obtained the vaccines “fraudulently” and administered doses to members of the public “contrary to the state’s plan.”

ParCare operates six clinics, including in Williamsburg, Borough Park and Bensonhurst in Brooklyn and in Monroe, New York, the Orange County town that encompasses the Satmar village of Kiryas Joel. Throughout the pandemic, those Orthodox neighborhoods have drawn attention for having many people not wear masks and for holding large events such as weddings in violation of state rules.

ParCare which is owned by Satmar activist Gary Schlesinger released a statement saying they they are fully cooperating with the probe.

Trump signs COVID-19 relief bill with $600 stimulus checks.....” Congress voting on a separate bill to “increase payments to individuals from $600 to $2,000.”

 President Trump on Sunday signed a $2.3 trillion COVID-19 relief and government funding bill that includes $600 stimulus checks for most Americans, after refusing to accept the deal for days.

The nearly 5,600-page bill passed the House and Senate by overwhelming margins on Monday night, just hours after its text was released.

Trump signed it several days after saying the legislation was a “disgrace” and calling on Congress to up the relief payments to $2,000 and scale-back spending. 

In a statement Sunday night, the president said he would ask for millions in dollars of spending to be removed from the bill. 

“I will sign the Omnibus and Covid package with a strong message that makes clear to Congress that wasteful items need to be removed,” Trump said. 

While the president insisted he would send Congress “a redlined version” with items to be removed under the rescission process, those are merely suggestions to Congress. The bill, as signed, would not necessarily be changed.

The bill authorizes direct checks of $600 for people earning up to $75,000 per year. The amount decreases for higher earners and people who make over $95,000 get nothing.

There’s an additional $600 per child stimulus payment.

The bill also creates a new $300 weekly unemployment supplement and replenishes a forgivable loan program for small businesses. It includes protections against evictions and money for COVID-19 vaccine distribution and cash-strapped transit systems. But the legislative package also includes measures unrelated to the pandemic, such as creating new criminal penalties including prison time for violating copyright laws with online streaming.

379,000 Israelis vaccinated; 98,916 over the past day.

 

Israel continues to lead the international community in coronavirus vaccinations. A little over a week after the mass vaccination campaign began, approximately 379,000 Israelis have received the treatment, with 98,916 individuals vaccinated over the last day alone.

Health Minister Yuli Edelstein tweeted this morning: "Beginning of the second week of the vaccination campaign - 100,000 vaccines administered daily and a total of 379,000 people vaccinated to date."

"The Ministry of Health, medical clinics, hospitals, and Magen David Adom deserve all the credit. And most of all - thank you, citizens of Israel, for coming out to vaccinate. We will continue as we've begun and even boost the pace of vaccination," Edelstein added.

Prime Minister Netanyahu has set a goal of 150,000 daily vaccinations over the coming week. "I talked to heads of companies supplying us with the vaccines over the weekend and told them our goal was to reach 150,000 vaccines a day by the end of the week. It's fantastic that we're on pace to set a world record. I asked them to try and get the speed of delivery up to the national vaccination rate, and they said they thought it was possible," he said.

The Ministry of Health, for its part, said it considered the target rate feasible and one that could even be surpassed. It also announced the expected opening of some-250 vaccination complexes in the coming days.

UAE officials considering to let UN agency for "Palestinian refugees" "gradually disappear."

 Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are working together to terminate UNRWA, the United Nations' agency for “Palestinian refugees”, i24NEWs reported Sunday, citing the French newspaper Le Monde.

The US, which was previously UNRWA's largest contributor, cut a full $300 million in funding to the agency in 2018, leaving it and asking other countries to help fill the gap.

After the US decision to pull the funding, UNRWA has relied on oil-rich Gulf kingdoms, including the UAE, Qatar and Saudi Arabia to plug the budgetary hole. However, according to Le Monde, the UAE has not transferred any funds yet this year.

According to the report, Emirati officials are considering to let the agency to "gradually disappear."

The agency did not return i24NEWS' request for comment.

Created in 1949, UNRWA supplies aid to more than three million of the five million registered “Palestinian refugees” in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and territories assigned to the Palestinian Authority.

However, it is also notorious for its anti-Israel activities. During the 2014 counterterrorism Operation Protective Edge, Hamas rockets were discovered inside a school building run by UNRWA.

Likewise, a booby-trapped UNRWA clinic was detonated, killing three IDF soldiers. Aside from the massive amounts of explosives hidden in the walls of the clinic, it was revealed that it stood on top of dozens of terror tunnels, showing how UNRWA is closely embedded with Hamas.

Israel has long regarded UNRWA as an impediment to a peaceful resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian Arab conflict.

280,000 Israelis vaccinated in first week

 

Health Minister Yuli Edelstein delivered an update Sunday morning on the first week of Israel's vaccination campaign.

"We continue to increase. We are finishing the first week of vaccinations with an incredible number of 280,000 people vaccinated, 68,000 of them over the weekend," the minister noted.

"We continue to provide vaccinations for you, we continue to protect Israel," he added.

Israel will begin its third lockdown tonight at 5 PM in the hope that the vaccination campaign will result in this being the last lockdown.

Data from the Health Ministry show that during the day that ended last night at midnight, 2,630 new coronavirus infections were diagnosed in Israel. During the day, the results of 64,662 tests were obtained. The rate of positive tests was 4.1 percent.

399,642 people infected with the virus have been diagnosed in the State of Israel since the beginning of the pandemic. 3,210 people have died from the disease so far. There are currently 35,525 active coronavirus cases in Israel.
