Fly repeatedly lands on Michael Bloomberg’s face during DNC speech

Mini Mike couldn't swat the mini fly! Bad Oman ...
Twitter was abuzz Thursday night after an insect twice landed on Michael Bloomberg’s face during his speech at the 2020 Democratic National Convention.
The flying bug, presumably a fly, first came to rest above the billionaire’s right eye before briefly stopping above his upper lip as the former Big Apple mayor ripped President Trump’s business acumen.
Some Twitter users considered the unexpected bug landing the highlight of the night.
“The fly on Bloomberg’s face stole the show tonight,” wrote one user.
Another said: “The fly on Bloomberg’s face has been the most interesting part so far!”
A third person, apparently unmoved by either 2020 presidential candidate, declared, “I would vote for the fly on Mike Bloomberg’s face.”
Despite the bug, Bloomberg continued his speech unimpeded.
The media mogul, 78, had a brief run for president this year, but dropped out of the race after several weak performances in the Democratic debates.

20 Yeshiva Bochrim Missing In Catskills. ....Updated.... Found

A search has been launched for a group of Yeshiva Bochrim missing in the Catskills Mountains.
The group of around 20 boys from Camp Adas Yereiyim were hiking in the area of Biscuit Brook, located on Frost Valley Road in Claryville, NY, when they went missing. They were last seen with a staff member at around 1:00PM. Other groups from the camp had hiked there today and returned safely.
A group of around 40 trained search & rescue volunteers from Rockland Chaveirim were dispatched to the scene to assist the NYS Forest Rangers and Catskills Hatzolah who are mobilizing on the scene.
Biscuit Brook is located in the “Big Indian Wilderness” section of Catskill Park. There is no phone service in the entire area.

UPDATE:
After missing in the Catskill Mountains for nearly 13 hours, a group of around 20 Bochrim were Bichasdei Hashem found.
The group of boys from Camp Adas Yereiyim were hiking in the area of Biscuit Brook, located on Frost Valley Road in Claryville, NY, when they went missing. They were last seen with a staff member at around 1:00PM on Thursday. The group eventually somehow split into two groups, and wandered on various marked hiking trails in the “Big Indian Wilderness” section of Catskill Park – a large area that has no phone service whatsoever. The NYS Forest Rangers, NY State Police and Ulster Counter Sheriff Department mobilized at Biscuit Brook, and requested Hatzolah for assistance. Catskills Hatzolah mobilized with dozens of volunteers as well as around 10 Hatzolah volunteers who are trained in searches using ATV’s. Rabbi Joel Gold, Chaplain of the DEC Police was on the scene coordinating between Hatzolah and the authorities.
Additionally, a group of around 40 trained search & rescue volunteers from Rockland Chaveirim were dispatched to the scene to assist.
Both missing groups – one with 8 boys, and one with 13 boys – were eventually located by the Forest Rangers. One of the groups had walked nearly 20 miles before they were found at 1:00AM. Thankfully, the boys were just tired and hungry, but otherwise in good spirits and in good health.
One group was picked up by Fleischmans Hatzolah, and a second group was picked up by Catskills Hatzolah.
The boys were thankful to the dedicated Forest Rangers who walked in the dark for hours until they located them and led them to safety.

Why Is Agudath Israel Defending The Democrats?

Agudah Leaders Endorsing de Blasio

 Yaakov Dovid Homnick
It was dismaying after Tisha B’Av 5780 to see that Rabbi Avi Shafran and Agudath Israel were still engaging in their misguided behavior from 1980. “Misguided” is being charitable; the alternative is too awful to contemplate.

Flash back to 1977, when the late Rabbi Sholom Klass – publisher of The Jewish Press – presciently decided that Ronald Reagan would win the presidency in 1980. Reagan had run in the 1976 Republican primary against sitting President Gerald Ford and fallen just short. Rabbi Klass became one of the few newspaper editors in the country to run Reagan’s syndicated column in every issue, jumping in early to get behind his candidacy.
In 1977, I was 19 and working for Agudath Israel as the editor of the Zeirei Forum, replacing Dovid Zwiebel in that role. That was the moment when the Left really went all in to fight the Torah on moral issues. In Dade County in Miami, they were rolling in the first ordinances to protect “gay rights.” The Supreme Court of New York forced women’s tennis to allow “Renee Richards” – Richard Schweitzer before his surgery – to compete in tournaments.
Rabbi Yisroel Belsky, z”l, supported me when I tried to publish an article about this in the Forum, but Rabbi Avraham Pam, z”l, blocked it on the basis that it was not a subject for yeshiva students.

The Abrahams That Love the Benjamins

Four brothers in Rockland County were arrested after allegedly running a $19 million fraud scheme that targeted online retailing giant Amazon, sources told NBC New York.

The four men — Yoel Abraham, Heshl Abraham, Zishe Abraham and Shmuel Abraham — were picked up in various homes throughout the area as early as 6 a.m. Wednesday by federal investigators from Homeland Security, as well as the NYPD.
Law enforcement sources said that at one time, the alleged fraud ring was being run out of the basement of a home in Monsey. A woman at the home who identified herself as Mrs. Abraham confirmed the arrests of her sons Wednesday afternoon, before threatening to call police as NBC New York asked her about the allegations.
A federal complaint alleges that the four Abraham brothers opened vendor accounts and engaged in a scheme to defraud an online retailer, which sources identified to NBC New York as Amazon. The feds said the brothers manipulated invoice and billing procedures, using a practice called over-shipping.
The complaint says that in 2018, they agreed to ship a case of disinfectant spray for $94. Instead, they allegedly shipped 7,000 individual toothbrushes for $94 each. They billed Amazon $658,000 for that order.
Later that year, in July, a vendor bought one bottle of designer perfume for $290. Instead of sending that product, the crew allegedly shipped 927 units of a plastic beard trimming tool for $290 dollars each — coming to a total of almost $270,000.
According to the complaint, on or about May 1, 2018, one of the defendants said “I’m so in the mood to f--- (Amazon)," and asked, "did anyone try to over ship and make a million profit in a week?"
The case is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York.
In response to the case and the arrests, Amazon said it was "grateful" to work with the law enforcement agencies "on their vigorous prosecution" of the brothers.
"While our proactive controls ensure the vast majority of sellers in our store are honest entrepreneurs, fraudsters attempt to violate our policies, victimize our customers, and damage our store, and we look forward to working with law enforcement agencies to hold these bad actors accountable for their illegal activities," the company said in a statement.

‘America's Got Talent’ Contestant Catches Fire During Terrifying Act

America’s Got Talent contestant Jonathan Goodwin was on fire on Tuesday night — literally. As part of his AGT quarterfinals performance, Goodwin doused himself in oil and attempted to escape shackles in under 20 seconds, all while fire closed in on him. Unfortunately, the daredevil wasn’t able to unlock himself in time, and he went up in flames, prompting judge Howie Mandel to call for a medic. Eek!
Goodwin has spent the past few weeks of AGT wowing the judges with his stuntman abilities, but last night, he ratcheted up the pressure with an entirely new act. “Of all the stunts in my book, this is the one my mom didn’t want me to try,” he explained to the judges before his performance. With some help from Heidi Klum, the contestant covered himself in gasoline, locked his wrists into police-regulation handcuffs, and secured his head into a box meant to impair his vision.
“When my head is locked in the box, I cannot reach the red handle,” he told Klum, pointing to a lever above the lockbox. “And in order for me to survive tonight, I need to reach the red handle.”
The judges shifted nervously in their seats as the AGT team prepped Goodwin. “Do they have a medic here?” asked Sofia Vergara. “I don’t want to see this.” Same!
Producers lit the fuse coiled around Goodwin, but it began to ignite much faster than originally planned. “Oh, no!” yelled Mandel. “That’s going too fast! That’s going to be faster than 20 seconds.”
The fire quickly made its way to the contestant, and his lower body went up in flames. “Call somebody!” said Mandel as the fire raged. “No! He’s on fire! Somebody move in! Why is everybody just standing?”
His entire body soon became engulfed in flames, but Goodwin, ever the pro, eventually made his way out of the restraints and pulled the red handle. The exasperated stuntman concluded his performance with a bow, and later, what I can only imagine was a very long shower.

NYC plans to ax 400 first responders "People Will Die"

No Police Protection and now no EMTs .... NYC going to the dogs...

“People will die” if City Hall follows through with a plan to lay off nearly 400 EMTs and paramedics, the head of the union representing those workers told The Post.
Oren Barzilay, head of EMS Local 2507, said FDNY brass told him that 10 percent of the city’s 3,700 EMTs and paramedics will be cut under Mayor Bill de Blasio’s plan to slash 22,000 municipal workers.
“The response times will go through the roof. That would put people at risk. People will die,” Barzilay warned.
De Blasio has said the reductions will come in October if the city doesn’t get state or federal aid to fill a major budget deficit caused by the coronavirus. Earlier this month he ordered agencies to come up with lists of cuts, according to Politico.
The number of EMTs and paramedics has already dropped from 4,100 before the pandemic. Four of his members died from the virus and three others committed suicide, Barzilay said. They were on the frontline of the crisis, rushing patients to hospitals around the five boroughs.
During the pandemic, his members responded to 7,000 emergency 911 calls, nearly double the normal amount.
“We were the only ones going into homes to save lives. That’s what we did. This is the thanks the men and women from EMS are now getting,” Barzilay fumed.
“COVID is not over. What happens if there is a surge?” he asked.
Reps for FDNY and City Hall did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Another union source said the cuts are nearly inconceivable.
“I don’t know where they would trim EMS, we are understaffed,” said Anthony Almojera, vice president of EMS Local 3621.
“The city has asked for a list of where they can cut by the end of August. This is expected to be acted upon by the end of September. There’s been some tough conversations about EMS workers and uniformed firefighters … demotions,” an FDNY source said.
A high-ranking FDNY insider confirmed “hundreds of EMTs” will be laid off as part of cuts.
City Hall Bill Neidhardt said no pink slips have been sent and the cuts are not final.
“To be clear: City Hall does not want these layoffs to happen, but this is the hole we are in without a stimulus or borrowing authority.
“Our EMTs and firefighters save lives every day and we are working with their unions to find personnel savings to avoid layoffs, but unfortunately all agencies will face layoffs. Without a stimulus or borrowing authority, EMTs and firefighters will have to find personnel savings,” the spokesman said.

Amy Nguyen a Vietnamese Joins The Tribe After 30 Years of Searching

Naming Ceremony

“I’m so thrilled to be a part of B’nai Israel and to have finally found my place with the Jewish people, after nearly 30 years of asking and searching.”

These are the first words Amy Nguyen wrote after completing her long and transformative journey to Judaism.
But despite her single-minded determination to become an official member of the Jewish people, the journey certainly had its fair share of potholes. She’ll tell you that, after decades of spiritual searching and more than two years of learning how to be a Jew, the last three. months were in many ways the hardest.
In early March, her conversion studies complete, Nguyen stood before three rabbis at the Beth Din of America in New York and answered their questions. As soon as she learned she had cleared that hurdle, she began planning the final step in her journey: the ancient rite of a convert immersing in the waters of a mikvah.
Frustrating? Yes. But, she now believes, they were three months well spent. “After a while, it became so clear to me that I needed that time with my parents so they could understand why I am becoming a Jew.”
