Menachem Yitzhak Crispin of Miami Killed in Motorcycle Accident

Menachem Yitzhak Crispin of Miami was killed in a serious accident on Friday afternoon while riding a motorcycle.

A truck driving in the center of Miami did not notice the motorcyclist, passed the intersection, and killed him.

Menachem Yitzhak, 24, is the great-grandson of Rabbi Meir Abuchatzeira l H’bba Meyer, son of Rabbi Aminadav Crispin of Kiryat Motzkin, and grandson of Rabbi Sabah Montreal.

Menachem’s father, Rabbi Aharon Crispin, served as a congregational rabbi in Miami. His parents live in Montreal, and his grandfather is a Chabad Hasid and Gism of Admorim Abuchatzeira.

“This is a very difficult tragedy,” friends of the family said to Behadrey Haredim.

The coffin for burial in Israel is expected to arrive tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.

Top DNC staffer apologizes for email on Sanders’ religion 

A top staffer at the Democratic National Committee has apologized after suggesting that the organization use Bernie Sanders’ religious beliefs against him in the Democratic primary.

One email among the thousands of internal DNC messages released this week by Wikileaks showed DNC CFO Brad Marshall questioning Sanders’ Jewish faith, and suggested that painting the candidate as an atheist “could make several points difference” in several late primary contests.

“It might may (sic) no difference, but for KY and WVA can we get someone to ask his belief. Does he believe in a God. He had skated on saying he has a Jewish heritage. I think I read he is an atheist. This could make several points difference with my peeps. My Southern Baptist peeps would draw a big difference between a Jew and an atheist,” Marshall wrote in a message to several DNC communications directors.

The message does not mention Sanders by name, but he was the only Jewish candidate, and the email came shortly before the Kentucky and West Virginia Democratic primaries.

‘Eternal God, we thank you for this blessed nation that for 240 years has translated into reality the biblical command to ‘proclaim liberty throughout the land for all the inhabitants thereof.’ We thank you for our constitutional government that has created and fostered the American ideals of democracy, freedom, justice and equality for all, regardless of race, religion or national origin.”

Those are the opening words of an invocation that was to have been offered at the Republican National Convention by Rabbi Haskel Lookstein. One of America’s most respected Jewish leaders, he’s rabbi emeritus of New York’s Congregation Kehilath Jeshurun.

Word that  Lookstein would speak at a convention honoring Donald Trump, prompted three petitions on the Web site Change.org, and he withdrew from offering a prayer in Cleveland. Change.org declared victory. No doubt his invocation would’ve been too much for liberals.

It strikes me as newsworthy. When else has a major religious leader been driven from offering an invocation at a national political convention because of the views of the candidate being nominated?

Lookstein had been invited to offer the prayer in Cleveland by Trump’s daughter, Ivanka. He had supervised her conversion to Judaism when she married Jared Kushner, an Orthodox Jew.

The victory over Lookstein is a tragedy not only for them but for many thousands of Jews who regard him as one of our most learned Modern Orthodox leaders. It’s an intervention by illiberal liberals.

All the more so because Lookstein isn’t political. He backed out, he told his congregation, precisely because “the whole matter turned from rabbinic to political, something which was never intended.”

A Brooklyn math tutor charged with repeatedly violating a six-year-old student is expected to go to trial in the fall.

Moshe Friedman was hired by the young boy’s parents to conduct in-home tutorials in 2013. Instead, for over 10 months, Friedman allegedly repeatedly assaulted and sexually abused the child.

Friedman, 30, was arrested in January 2015 for first-degree sexual conduct against a child and other shocking charges.

After several routine court appearances, prosecutors informed Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Raymond Guzman on Wednesday that they are ready for trial in the fall.

According to court documents, Friedman allegedly hit the child in the back of the head, causing his glasses to fall off and injuring his hand.

On another occasion, while the boy’s hand was in a cast, Friedman allegedly followed him into the bathroom and violated him, according to the criminal complaint.

Friedman allegedly sexually assaulted the boy, shoved a rag in his mouth and threatened him with a gun.

"You'd better not tell your parents or I'll kill you and your family," Friedman allegedly said to the boy.

If convicted on the top charge, Friedman faces up to 25 years in prison.

Friedman and his attorney Arthur Aidala both declined comment outside court.

 U.S. Muslim leaders hope to register a million voters from within their community to help combat what they say is the anti-Muslim stance of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

The United States has only about 3.3 million Muslims, but campaign organizers say Muslim voters could have an outsize impact in swing states that are key to the November general election, such as Virginia and Florida.

“We want the Muslim community to understand that if you give up your rights voluntarily, no one will come and give it back to you,” said Osama Abu Irshaid, a member of the board of the U.S. Council of Muslim Organizations, which is spearheading the drive.

Imams have been asked to encourage their congregations to register to vote. Organizers have sent canvassers to college campuses, bus stations and gas stations in Muslim neighborhoods.

The campaign began in December and is part of an effort among U.S. Muslims to combat an “unprecedented rise in Islamophobia,” said Nihad Awad, executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR).

CAIR’s database showed that 300,000 Muslims had registered since November, he said.

In particular, it asserts, theHuffPost engaged in a concerted campaign to help US President Barack Obama get elected, and subsequently to assist him to push through the JCPOA by purposely deceiving the public about its true nature.

To this end, according to the report – compiled by Jon Sutz of the New York-based websiteSavetheWest.com – the HuffPost,

 PUBLISHED EDITORIALS AND “NEWS” STORIES THAT CONTINUED ITS LONG-STANDING PATTERN OF INCITING HATE AGAINST ISRAEL AND JEWS, USING CLASSIC ANTI-SEMITIC LIBELS AND STEREOTYPES, WHILE WHITEWASHING AND EVEN LEGITIMIZING ISLAMIST TERRORISTS, WHO’VE SWORN TO WIPE ISRAEL OFF THE FACE OF THE EARTH. The report — whose title is a reference to the scandal surrounding Obama’s JCPOA adviser Ben Rhodes’ admission of deceit in relation to the deal — says that the HuffPost boasts 130 million readers per month, calling itself the “largest news site in the US.” In addition, according to one internet traffic analysis source, the outlet is now the most popular political website in the world.

The report quotes the HuffPost’s claim that it “has in place rigorous editorial policies and standards…to ensure that we maintain the highest level of journalistic integrity…Too many reporters have forgotten that the highest calling of journalists is to ferret out the truth, consequences be damned…There is an objective reality, and it is the media’s job to present it unequivocally.”

The stated purpose of the report is to provide the facts to Americans who are unfamiliar with the ins and outs of the Iran deal, and the way it was portrayed in the media. “Without this knowledge,” it says,”one cannot truly grasp the magnitude or implications of what HuffPost did, and failed to do.”

Crane Crashes On To Tappan Zee Bridge All Lanes Closed Indefinitely

DEVELOPING: At least two people were hurt Tuesday after a construction crane collapsed onto the Tappan Zee Bridge north of New York City, local media reported.

Paramedics rushed two people from the scene on stretchers, Fox 5 reported. Crews closed all lanes on the bridge and traffic reportedly backed up for miles.

Helicopter video showed the collapsed crane stretching across all six lanes of the bridge, which spans Rockland and Westchester counties.

Workers had been building a new bridge to replace the older span over the Hudson River. Emergency crews rushed to the scene.

The crane collapsed around noon Tuesday, the Rockland County executive's office reported.

In March, a 90-foot tugboat sank after it hit a construction barge near the bridge site, killing three crew members.
