First, for years, they said that the CI said that Bnei-Brak would never get bombed, and that's why no one went into the shelters during sirens Then, when Bnei-Brak was bombed, they changed and said that the CI never said that BB wasn't going to be bombed; he said there would be no injuries. Then when there were injuries, they said that the CI actually said that "he wasn't afraid of bombs" (R" Moshe Sterbuch's words) Now that everything has been debunked! Baruch Steinmetz comes along and says that "it was probably a rumor" Reb Baruchel don't come and lecture me about "belittling the Chazon Ish" when you yourself just made that up that "it was a rumor" !
I believe that the Chazon Ish did in fact say that and the biggest proof is that no Bnei=-Braker went to the shelters during the sirens! Until of course now that there were injuries! But the Yeshivishe Roshei Yeshivas and Gedoilim are holier than the Tanaim and Amoraim in Shas that had no problems telling their colleagues that they were wrong. Even the Ramban on numerous occasions, says that Rashi was wrong! The Orach Chayim Hakodosh says on the Mizrachi not only that he was wrong but that he made no sense! But the Litvishe tzaddikm would never say that the Chazon Ish was wrong, so they fabricate and twist the words of the Chazon Ish! Why can't they just say that he was wrong? The Litvishe velt because of their insecurities fear that by saying what is now obvious, that makes the Chazon Ish less of a tzaddik, so they permit themselves to lie and put words in the mouth of the CI , words that he never said!
This all is obvious fake news. Rav Feldman et al has said every tehillim is a shield. No bombs could every touch BB, thats why they dont join the army! no need.
I think that B Steinmetz brought up an important subject that should be addressed in a separate post.
I know many people who chose to live in Bnei-Brak, bought diras there precisely because of this very "havtacha" of the Chazon Ish, so to say that this was a "rumor" is being disingenuous. To be sure, the Gerer Rebbe said something similar to his Chassidim to encourage them to move to Arad, and he even went one step further than the CI and said that "there was no need to enter shelters during sirens in Arad. Of course, this was so reckless and irresponsible that the day after the bombing, Ger officially made a statement that everyone must seek shelter during sirens, and they never referred to the outrageous statement of the Gerer Rebbe. Charediem first make a narrative, and when the narrative proves to be faulty, they won't admit that they were wrong but double down and if anyone points out the facts that are in fact wrong, they say what B Steinmetz said ..."you are belittling a Talmid Chachem" The entire world, including the Chazon Ishnikers and the Gerer Chassidim are trying to put blinders on all of us, but we are all aware of their false narratives and excuses for their faulty predictions that לא היה ולא נברא
