It may appear like it's a simple case of an Arab teenager stabbing him in the back. That's true and I don't intend to let this teenage monster off the hook. But there's a lot that you don't see.
Ari Fuld's death probably shouldn't come as such a shock and I was a big admirer of his. I cried a lot today for Ari and his family but I'm not surprised at this horrible tragedy. In fact, I'm surprised he lived as long as he did. As i see it, he had a Bulls-Eye target placed on his back for a long time. The reason is simple. He was one man doing a very dangerous job that the Israeli government abdicated years ago; advocating for Israel, defending the right of every Jew to live in the Jewish ancestral homeland and trying to deflect and protect the Israelis from a world of anti-israel hatred that has gone mad, ballistically mad.
The world is not the same as it was thirty or forty years ago. It's a much more violent place. Western Europe bursting with hundreds of thousands of young Arab immigrants combined with Islamic fundamentalism spreading terror around the Middle East and 8 years of an Obama/Kerry Administration fanning the flames of Israel-hatred have made defending Israel an impossible task at the UN or anywhere else. Enter onstage Ari Fuld, a passionate Zionist motivated by his love for the land, his love of Judaism, and his love for his people and he's ready to stand up and take on this violent Israel-hating world singlehandedly. This modern day courageous King David was an independent operator.
Let's be clear here, the Israeli government didn't walk away from Ari and they never abandoned him. They never even got out of the foxhole to back him up. In fact, they are still there. They still have their heads buried in the sand. But, it's not just Ari. Arab terrorism within Israel's borders ? What are you kidding me ? Who knew ?
The Israeli government has failed in protecting Israeli citizens from attacks within its borders. It's been over 50 years since the 67 war and the Israeli's still haven't changed any of the hate filled books that the Palestinians use to educate their children. The Israelis haven't done one thing about the hatred coming out of UNWRA education system. Jared Kushner and Trump are turning the screws from the White House, not one screw was turned from within Israel. We all know where the bad news coming out of Israel originates. It's from the international media organizations in Israel that distort every news item in a way that would make Hitler's Nazi propagandists proud. I'm not aware of Israel closing one office of an international media organization. The NGO's within Israel are at war with Israel. Not one NGO has been closed. Israel is too scared. The Israelis are scared to shoot a terrorist lying on the ground and now Israel has the best doctors at Ein Kerem Hospital working on saving today's teenage terrorist lest the NY Times write that Israelis are racists. All of Israel crumbles and trembles at the nightmare of that accusation. Israeli soldiers are rarely allowed to shoot anyone
Ari Fuld was stabbed by an Arab kid because there's not one deterrent that would discourage him from committing an act of terror. Threatening to tear down the home of a terrorist is apparently not that effective, certainly not when it's not always carried out. Dozens of innocent Jews have been killed in Jerusalem and the West Bank in the past few years alone.
An Arab teenager was able to take down a brave Zionist warrior today because truth be told no one had his back. In fact, no one has the back of any Jew in Israel.
My heart goes out to Ari's family. I can't imagine what they're feeling now. But the truth is that they should be very proud of who he was, they certainly have nothing to be ashamed of. I'm not sure the Israeli government can say the same. May Ari's very noble life and memory be a blessing.
