Why are Chareidim in the US Covering Up the the Amount of Dead from the Virus??

by Rabbi Yitzchok Rudomin

How many Jews have died from the Coronavirus in the USA?

This is a question that is never openly asked and studiously avoided.

 Why?

If you live in America, as I do, it should be a very basic question, to know exactly what is going on around you. After all, doesn’t knowing this bolster the case of those who take it seriously, and counter the what-me-worry attitude of those who are ignoring social distancing?

I just read an article claiming that Orthodox rabbis cannot agree on how and if to resume prayer Minyanim.

Wouldn’t it help them decide if they could measure the scope of the tragedies around them?

It would bring home the level of severity of this health crisis for those slacking off, and bring us face to face with the enormity of the losses American Jewry has suffered and confirm our need to mourn for the victims, particularly in Orthodox-Haredi-Hasidic-Sefardi circles in the New York-New Jersey metropolitan areas that have tragically been hit hard, and still are suffering.

In Israel, the Jewish homeland where the situation was under control and is evidently improving, there is an exact count of Jews who have passed away from the Coronavirus. Reports say that of the almost 300 victims who have passed away, about 70% are from the Haredi sector.

2,000-year-old Rooms Found by the Kotel

A singular two-millennia-old subterranean system of three rooms has been uncovered near the Western Wall. The three-room complex — painstakingly chiseled by hand out of bedrock prior to the fall of Jerusalem in 70 CE — is the first evidence of everyday life gone underground in the ancient city.

“This is a unique finding. This is the first time a subterranean system has been uncovered adjacent to the Western Wall,” said Israel Antiquity Authority co-directors Dr. Barak Monnickendam-Givon and Tehila Sadiel in a press release Tuesday.

“You must understand that 2,000 years ago in Jerusalem, like today, it was customary to build out of stone [blocks]. The question is, why were such efforts and resources invested in hewing rooms underground in the hard bedrock?” said the archaeologists.

The purpose of the three-room complex, hidden for centuries under a large 1,400-year-old Byzantine structure’s white mosaic floor, is still being investigated, but it may have served as a basement pantry, living space, or even a place to hide during raids, excavation co-director Dr. Barak Monnickendam-Givon told The Times of Israel on Tuesday.

The rooms, uncovered by students of a pre-military preparatory program in Jerusalem working in cooperation with the IAA, are located under the “Beit Strauss” complex, a historical ancient building purchased by philanthropist Nathan Strauss, which was once a soup kitchen and today houses beautiful public toilets and serves as an entrance lobby to the Western Wall Tunnels.

The underground excavations there were renewed a year ago under the recently renovated and enlarged Beit Strauss building to connect the building to a new segment of the Western Wall Heritage Foundation’s Western Wall Tunnels tour, according to an IAA press release.

While the complex’s purpose is “still a mystery,” said Monnickendam-Givon, during the Second Temple era (and today), the placement of the subterranean system was considered a “prime location.” He does not rule out the idea that it may have been part of a much larger public structure that has since been obliterated.

'COVID-19 banished Jews from synagogue for talking on phone during davening'

Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky, the most senior non-hassidic, ultra-Orthodox rabbi in the world, has said that Jews have been “banished” from synagogues by the COVID-19 pandemic due to the offense given to God by using cell phones in synagogue.
In a letter published in the daily ultra-Orthodox Yated Neeman newspaper, the rabbi called for synagogue administrators to ban the use of cell phones in the prayer hall when prayer in synagogues is permitted again.
The letter was also signed by Kanievsky’s colleague in the leadership of the ultra-Orthodox community, Rabbi Gershon Edelstein.
Addressing all synagogue administrators in general, Kanievsky wrote that “For our many sins it has been many weeks since we were banished from our synagogues and study halls, like a servant who came to pour wine for his master and the master poured the jug on his face.”
Continued the rabbi “It appears that this is a sign from Heaven for the sin in which the sanctity of synagogues has been cheapened by having cell phones open and speaking on them while people are praying, and this is great disrespect for prayer and the sanctity of synagogues, and is in total opposition to Jewish law.”
Kanievsky said that synagogue administrators should therefore completely ban people from praying in synagogue while their phones are turned on, and said that they should warn worshipers about this issue.
He said that administrators in Israel and around the world should ensure that a cupboard or other storage facility outside of the prayer hall for worshipers to deposit their cell phones.

NY Family Flies Virus Body to Israel in Private Jet then Has Mass Funeral

What a bunch of chutzpedika ingrates.....come here with a contaminated dead body to infect hundreds of others ........

Seven members of a Jewish family from New York reportedly arrived Monday to Israel from the United States in a private jet along with the body of a family member who died of COVID-19, and immediately attended her funeral along with a hundred people, in violation of the requirement to self-quarantine for 14 days.

The family then continued to a synagogue in Holon where they met dozens of other relatives and friends, according to a report by Channel 12.

All arrivals to Israel currently have to isolate for two weeks before they are allowed to come into contact with other people.

New York is one of the world’s worst COVID-19 hotspots, and the city’s Jewish community has been particularly hard-hit by the outbreak. Many virus victims have been flown to Israel for burial.

However, in Monday’s incident, the body didn’t arrive alone. Seven relatives of the deceased 70-year-old woman arrived at Ben Gurion Airport after renting a private plane for almost $200,000.

She was then buried at Jerusalem’s Har Hamenuhot cemetery, alongside the family father. The funeral was attended by 100 people, including the new arrivals from abroad who defied government restrictions.

The family is wealthy and known among New York’s Jews for its philanthropy, the report said. It quoted a family friend saying that the family for 25 years has been “keeping afloat the Bukharan community in Queens, Arizona and other places.” The family deals with real estate and diamonds, he said.

Another friend said that if not for the coronavirus, thousands would have attended the funeral.

The family planned to return Monday night to the US. The report didn’t say whether that plan had gone ahead.

Israel Police said the case would be probed, adding that it acts upon alerts sent to it by the Health Ministry.

Israel Behind Cyberattack that Caused ‘total disarray’ at Iran Port

Israel carried out a recent sophisticated cyberattack on an Iranian port facility, causing widespread chaos, apparently in retaliation for an attempt by Tehran to target Israel’s water infrastructure, the Washington Post reported Monday.
The report, citing foreign and US officials, said Israel was likely behind the hack that brought the “bustling Shahid Rajaee port terminal to an abrupt and inexplicable halt” on May 9.
“Computers that regulate the flow of vessels, trucks and goods all crashed at once, creating massive backups on waterways and roads leading to the facility,” the Post reported, adding that it had seen satellite photos showing miles-long traffic jams leading to the port and ships still waiting to offload several days later.
Iran later acknowledged that an unknown foreign hacker had briefly knocked the port’s computers offline.

“A recent cyber attack failed to penetrate the PMO’s systems and was only able to infiltrate and damage a number of private operating systems at the ports,”  Mohammad Rastad, managing director of the Ports and Maritime Organization, said in a statement carried by Iran’s ILNA news agency.
The port is a newly constructed shipping terminal in the Iranian coastal city of Bandar Abbas, on the Strait of Hormuz.
But the damage was far more severe than Iran acknowledged and was apparently carried out by Israeli operatives, the Post said, quoting a security official with a foreign government that monitored the incident.
The official, who spoke on the condition that his identity and national affiliation not be revealed, called the attack “highly accurate,” the Post said.
“There was total disarray,” said the official. A US official with access to classified files also said that Israelis were believed to have been behind the attack. The officials said it was apparently carried out in retaliation for an Iranian cyberattack that targeted Israel’s water infrastructure.
There was no comment from the Israeli embassy in Washington or the Israel Defense Forces, the report said.
Israel was reportedly aghast at the Iranian attack on its water infrastructure.
A May 7 meeting of the high-level security cabinet, the first to be held in months, dealt in part with the Iranian attempt, Israeli television reported.
Quoting unnamed senior officials, Channel 13 news said on May 9 that the attack in late April was viewed as a significant escalation by Iran and a crossing of a red line because it targeted civil infrastructure.
“This is an attack that goes against all the codes of war. Even from the Iranians we didn’t expect something like this,” an official was quoted as saying.
The attack did minimal damage, though problems were reported at some facilities in local councils, the officials said.
Israel was weighing how and if to respond, the network said at the time.
According to the report, ministers who took part in the security cabinet meeting had to sign nondisclosure agreements.
Earlier that day Fox News reported that Iran was behind the attack, with hackers using American servers to carry out the breach.
A senior US Department of Energy official told Fox News that the Trump administration was committed to protecting allies from cyberattacks but would not comment on the specific incident, saying an investigation was ongoing.
There was no official confirmation of the report by Israeli or US officials.
The attack took place on April 24-25 on numerous water and sewage facilities across the country, according to the Ynet news site.
The Water Authority and Israel National Cyber Directorate confirmed an “attempted cyber breach on water command and control systems.”
“The attempted attack was dealt with by the Water Authority and National Cyber Directorate. It should be emphasized that there was no harm to the water supply and it operated, and continues to operate, without interruption,” it said.
Iran — whose regime avowedly seeks Israel’s destruction — and Israel have engaged in covert cyber-warfare for over a decade, including reported efforts by the Jewish state and US to remotely sabotage the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program.
Israel has also in recent weeks appeared to step up a bombing campaign on Iran-linked forces in Syria, concerned at Iran’s ongoing efforts to establish a potent military presence there from which to attack Israel. The Iranian-funded and -armed Hezbollah terror group faces off against Israel from Lebanon, and Iran backs Palestinian terror groups in the West Bank and Gaza.
The Islamic Republic is smarting from one of the world’s most severe COVID-19 outbreaks. Experts have recently warned that the coronavirus pandemic has created a perfect storm for cyberattacks, with millions of people working in unfamiliar, less secure circumstances and eager for information about the virus and with new organizational policies being implemented.

Trump Has Been Taking Hyroxchloroquine For a Week and He is Still Alive

President Trump on Monday announced that he has been taking the anti-malarial drug hydroxychloroquine to ward off the coronavirus.

“You’d be surprised at how many people are taking it, especially the frontline workers before you catch it. The frontline workers — many, many are taking it. I happen to be taking it. I happen to be taking it — hydroxychloroquine,” Trump said at the White House following a roundtable with reps from the restaurant industry.

“A lot of good things have come out on the hydroxy. I’m taking hydroxychloroquine. I’ve been taking it. I hope to not be able to take it soon. But I think people should be allowed to,” he said.

“A couple of weeks ago, I started taking it. I’ve heard a lot of good stories. And if it is not good, I will tell you, right. I’m not going to get hurt by it. It has been around for 40 years for malaria, for lupus, for other things.”

The president said that he asked the White House physician about the drug, which he is taking in pill form, and said he would like to take it and that the doctor agreed.

When asked about evidence if it works, Trump replied, “Here we go. Are you ready? Here’s my evidence. I get a lot of positive calls about it. The only negative I heard — was at the VA? People that aren’t big Trump fans.”

Americans Brought over 70% of Corona Virus to Israel

Not only do you guys refuse to make Aliyah , you are killing us!
The report below says that the arrivals from America were "super-spreaders" because they refused " to adhere to health ministry instructions"
I'll go out on a limb and speculate that it was the heimishe guys...
A unique study, the first of its kind in Israel, was carried out in which researchers used the unique genetic codes of coronavirus infections to trace their origin, Channel 12 News reported.
The study showed that the Israeli government’s decision not to ban US citizens from visiting Israel in the initial stages of the pandemic, a move criticized for being politically motivated, led to a significant increase in the spread of the coronavirus in Israel.
The study was based on the varying genetic codes of coronavirus infections, small mutations that provided researchers with a type of “bar code” that allowed them to trace how the virus spread.
The study proved that Israelis returning from the US or US tourists who arrived in Israel as the coronavirus was beginning to spread were far more responsible for the spread of the virus than arrivals from Europe – with about 70% of infections stemming from the US.

Newly Released Photos of Jews Being Humiliated And Led Off To Be Exterminated By Nazi Germany

We have made a selection of these pictures that have been made available by the Bundesarchiv.

Poland .. Jews Doing  Forced Labor in Litzmannstad Ghetto

Every branch of the German government was involved in the genocide. Over 200,000 officials were involved in the murders. Germany ran 42,500 concentration camps and other facilities involved in moving, detaining and killing Jews and other people. Some of the most infamous of the extermination camps were Auschwitz, Treblinka, and Belzec. Most were killed with poisonous gas. Others were shot or worked to death. Before the poor victims were killed, they were often made to work for the Nazis without proper food and rest. Nazi doctors also performed horrible experiments on them. After the war, Nazi leaders were put on trial by the Allies or these and other crimes. The trials took place at Nuremberg in Germany. Many were found guilty and imprisoned or executed. German war photographers took pictures of all that happened in the Third Reich that included the treatment of the Jews. We have made a selection of these pictures that have been made available by the Bundesarchiv.

Pompeo: US will ‘exact consequences’ if ICC continues to investigate Israel

Add caption
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the U.S. will “exact consequences” on the International Criminal Court if it “continues down its current course” of attempting to “assert jurisdiction over Israel.”

Israel has for years been accused of committing war crimes in Judea, Samaria, eastern Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip.

Last month, ICC lead prosecutor Fatou Bensouda ruled that Palestine is a state and the International Criminal Court has jurisdiction involving its cases. A three-judge panel must now affirm Bensouda’s decision.

Israel is not a member of the ICC, but the Palestinian Authority is, even though it is not a full member state of the United Nations.

Pompeo issued a statement on the matter on Friday, two days after a whirlwind visit to Israel to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, Benny Gantz and Israeli security officials.

Pompeo wrote that the U.S. does not agree that the Palestinian Authority qualifies as a “sovereign state.”

He also called the court a “political body, not a judicial institution.”

Senators and members of the U.S. House of Representatives from both parties called on Pompeo to protect Israel from ICC prosecution in a letter last week.

Inside Look at ‘nightmare’ NYC-run Adult-care Center

Out-of-state nurses brought to Manhattan to fight the coronavirus say they found hellish conditions at the city-run adult-care center on Roosevelt Island — from patients with horrific bed sores to feces-smeared walls.
“It was just heartbreaking,” said one of the RNs, a mom of four from Wisconsin who spent about 17 days at the Coler Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center.
“Patients were in deplorable conditions — very, very dirty, bed sores, terrible odors,’’ the FEMA-contracted nurse, 38, told The Post.
“During my shift, I was placing my initials on the adult diapers. When I would return the next day, the patients would have an additional adult diaper on over the one with my initials on it, saturated urine through both and through the sheets.’’
She and several other nurses, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said they tended to coronavirus patients in the facility’s long-term-care section.
The virus-sickened patients were already living at the site when the nurses arrived and not among the COVID-19 sufferers who were ordered sent to the facility by Mayor Bill de Blasio because of a shortage of hospital beds amid the pandemic. The patients brought in from the outside were put in a separate wing of the site that had been closed.

Beit Shemesh Resident Omer Yankelevich Sworn in As First Female Minister ...adds "Im Yirtzeh Hashem"

Incoming Diaspora Minister Omer Yankelevich (Blue and White) declared allegiance at the Knesset plenum, adding the words "God willing" to her proclamation.

Prior to making the declaration, Yankelevich received approval from Knesset Secretary Yardena Miller to add the two words to her pledge.

Yankelevich is the first ever female Knesset minister. She is married with five children and lives in Ramat Beit Shemesh.
New York Jewish Federation Director General (UJA) Eric Goldstein congratulated the new minister:

"I congratulate MK Omer Yankelevich on her appointment as the incoming Diaspora Minister in the Israeli government," said Goldstein. "We're aware of her long history of facilitating dialogue and building bridges in the Jewish community, and look forward to working with her to ensure a prosperous mutual future for the State of Israel and world Jewry," he concluded.

The World Bnei Akiva movement applauded her appointment: "The incoming minister is a daughter of immigrants who came to Israel, her mother from Latvia, her father from Lithuania."

World Bnei Akiva Secretary General Roi Abecassis said: "The coronavirus crisis [has produced] numerous challenges in our path. There are communities that have been badly hurt; some are facing financial difficulties and it is crucial to make sure the state pipeline isn't cut off to them. I am sure that Minister Yankelevich will be able to construct meaningful networks just like she did while leading a series of social ventures between various groups within Israeli society, as well as communities in the center of the country and in the periphery."

The Real Reason Pompeo Came to Israel During The Coroan Virus?

By Carolyn Glick
On Sunday, Saudi journalist Abdelhameed al-Ghoban gave an interview to the BBC in Arabic. His remarks, which were translated by MEMRI, were devoid of nuance.
"Today, the public is informed. There is a deluge [of opinions] against the Palestinian cause. It is no longer just public support for normalization and building ties with Israel. [Our] public has turned against the Palestinians in general. Unfortunately, the Palestinians have lost. The Palestinians have not contributed anything. We can say that they are emotional people whose behavior is governed by their feelings."
Al-Ghoban added, "It is in our strategic interest, and in keeping with our future economic interests, to maintain real relations with Israel. Israel is an advanced country and we can benefit from it."
Al-Ghoban's remarks are not a lone voice in the wilderness. During the Ramadan Muslim holy month, Saudi television networks broadcast two series that portray Jews and Israelis in a positive light.
Palestinian leaders are beside themselves at what they view as pan-Arab abandonment. In remarks to Israel Hayom this week, a senior Palestinian official bitterly referred to the mild criticisms of US President Donald Trump's peace plan and of Israel's plan to apply its sovereignty to its communities in Judea and Samaria and to the Jordan Valley as no more than "lip service."
Israeli leftist groups are hanging their hopes for torpedoing Israel's sovereignty plans on the European Union. France's plan, supported by Luxemburg, Belgium and Ireland to impose EU sanctions on Israel in the event it implements its sovereignty plan was widely reported this week.
But like the Palestinians, Israeli leftists are likely to be disappointed. EU rules require all decisions to be made by consensus. And there is no consensus on sanctioning Israel.

Kosher wine sold in a can for the first time

Bartenura Moscato is the super sweet, bubbly kosher wine beloved by Upper West Side Jews and hip hop stars alike. It made splashy headlines back in 2005 when the rapper Lil’ Kim mentioned it in one of her songs.
From there, other performers (including Canadian-Jewish rapper Drake) were turned onto the drink, and some have mentioned the sweet wine in their music, too. Since then the kosher wine’s popularity has exploded.
For those who have never tasted Bartenura Moscato, it’s sweet, smooth, and only slightly bubbly, like drinking alcoholic fizzy grape juice. It may not be considered the most sophisticated wine, but who cares when it’s delicious and makes some great sangria too?
Now, the beloved sweet wine is making its appearance in can form just in time for the pandemic summer of 2020. That means it will also go down in history as the first kosher wine in a can. Sweet.
Royal Wine Corp., who produces the wine, said the cans are already available in many stores and will be available everywhere by June. It’s sold in four-packs for $15. Good thing my local wine store delivers.
