I enjoyed the Belgian carnival that featured anti-Semitic floats. ...... but Then I searched for homes in Israel.
I probably spend an unhealthy amount of time thinking about the Holocaust.
Partly as a consequence of covering Jewish news in Europe at a time of rising anti-Semitism, Holocaust associations often come to mind in my daily life — on crowded trains, for example.
But I never thought I’d have a conversation end with these words:
“I have to hang up now, the Gestapo is coming.”

In unprecedented move, Israelis advised to avoid all travel abroad over virus
In a dramatic statement Wednesday, Israel’s Health Ministry urged Israelis to seriously consider refraining from traveling abroad, as the country looked to isolate itself from the novel coronavirus outbreak rapidly spreading across the globe.
“If you don’t genuinely have to fly — don’t do so,” the ministry said in a travel warning. In making the announcement, Israel became the first country to urge its citizens to refrain from international travel entirely because of the outbreak, which started in China in December and has since infected over 80,000 worldwide and claimed well over 2,000 lives, almost all of them in China. The move comes after a series of additional countries announced they had identified cases of the virus on their soil over the past two days, including Brazil’s announcement of the first confirmed case in Latin America and uncontained outbreaks in Germany, Italy and other European countries.

Rabbi Elya Brudny Branded a "Zionist" Because He Supports Voting in the WORLD ZIONIST CONGRESS
First of all what's so bad being called a "Zionist" Chas Ve'Shalom?
So let's start from the beginning.....
As we previously discussed, Rav Malkiel Kotler is a supporter of the late R' Shmuel Auerbach's fanatical position that it is a mitzvah to disrupt the lives of people going to work, going to school, going to a shiur, visiting the sick, by tying up traffic in the Chareidie areas like Bnei-Brak and Yerushalayim.
Over the last few months many frum news outlets have asked frum people to vote in the next World Jewish Congress elections.
One must first register as a member which is $7.50, and that makes one eligible to vote .
The reason why Rabbanim want us to become members and vote has absolutely nothing to do with Zionism.

Uh Oh! 83 people in Long Island being monitored for possible coronavirus exposure
Dozens of Long Island residents are being monitored for potential exposure to the deadly coronavirus, health officials announced Wednesday.
Eighty-three Nassau County residents have been asked to undergo a two-week voluntary quarantine from the date that they traveled to China or had contact with someone infected with the virus, news station WPVI reported.
“We’re monitoring this situation in Nassau very, very closely and have been right from the beginning to respond to any cases should they emerge in our county,” Nassau County Executive Laura Curran said at a press conference.
The group is required to report their temperature and any symptoms every day to local health officials, WPVI reported.
No one has been diagnosed with the virus, but tests for one resident are pending, officials said.
“Should someone need medical care, we’ll evaluate it and we have protocols in place to safely get them medical care,” Nassau County Department of Health Commissioner Dr. Lawrence Eisenstein said.
News of Nassau’s quarantine comes a day after federal officials warned that it’s only a matter of time before the infection spreads through local communities.

Mubarak: "What does the Lubavitcher Rebbe Want From Me?"
Yisrael Katzover, a senior journalist who covered the IDF for several decades for numerous Israeli newspapers and media channels was interviewed by Chabad many years ago about his many encounters throughout the years with the Lubavitcher Rebbe to receive advice and instructions about his work. One of the stories he told was a fascinating encounter with former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, who passed away on Tuesday.
“I visited Egypt 11 times and I had meetings with Hosni Mubarak many times during these visits. During my first visits – before Mubarak became ill – when we would come to Egypt with the [Israeli] prime minister, the defense minister, with others, he would take the journalists to a side room, sit with them and engage us in very interesting, open and personal conversations.”
“I remember one of these conversations. We were fix, six journalists and he hurried through the conversation that day for some reason. At the end of the meeting, he called me aside and asked me to go with him to another room.”
“We went into a room and he said to me: ‘I know what you’re writing, I know what your opinion is – I hear you at meetings. I have a special question for you. Can you explain to me what the Lubavitcher Rebbe wants from me?'”

Trump mocks 'crazy, chaotic' Democratic debate and takes aim at Joe Biden, 'Mini Mike' Bloomberg, and 'chocker' Elizabeth Warren
Donald Trump mocked Democrats' Debate night of finger-pointing, shouting and chaos as he returned to the White House Wednesday, scoffing:
'Just give me an opponent.'
He took aim at a series of his potential rivals to call them 'crazy,' and say: 'Would be over for most.'
The tweet reflected his public confidence that he can beat any of the Democratic field in November, and came after just over two hours of the CBS hosted debated which quickly devolved into angry personal exchanges with a total loss of control by moderators Gayle King and Norah O'Donnell.
'Crazy, chaotic Democrat Debate last night,' Trump said, not long after touching down from India at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland.
'Fake News said Biden did well, even though he said half of our population was shot to death.
Would be OVER for most. Mini Mike was weak and unsteady, but helped greatly by his many commercials (which are not supposed to be allowed during a debate).
'Pocahontas was mean, & undisciplined, mostly aiming at Crazy Bernie and Mini Mike. They don’t know how to handle her, but I know she is a "chocker".
'Steyer was a disaster who, along with Mini, are setting records in $'s per vote.
Just give me an opponent!'
The only two to escape his verdict were moderates Pete Buttigieg and Amy Klobuchar, for whom he has notably failed to come up with lasting nicknames.

Philip Haney, Whisleblower Who Warned Congress About the Obama administration's Lies on Muslim Terrorists Was Not A Suicide But Was Murdered
Police backtrack on Obama-era DHS whistleblower's initial 'suicide' reports after his body was found by a California highway - as they reveal the FBI is examining documents and a laptop found near the scene
Philip Haney, who spoke out against his own agency during the Obama administration, was found dead in Plymouth, about 40 miles east of Sacramento, last Friday.
His body was found in a park and ride area near Highway 16 and Highway 124.
The Amador County Sheriff's Office initially said the 66-year-old was found with what appeared to be a 'self-inflicted gunshot wound'.
They also said a firearm had been found next to Haney and his vehicle.
The sheriff's office have since described those initial reports as 'misinformation' and said they have asked the FBI for assistance in investigating Haney's death.
'Unfortunately, there was misinformation immediately being put out that we have determined Mr Haney's death to be a suicide. This is not the case,' the sheriff's office said this week.
'We are currently in the beginning phase of our investigation and any final determination as to the cause and manner of Mr Haney's death would be extremely premature and inappropriate.
'No determination will be made until all evidence is examined and analyzed.'

"Four Winters " A Film About the Brave Partisans That Fought the Nazis and Polish Murderers
Four Winters debuted at the New York Jewish Film Festival last month and will be wending its way around the festival circuit in the weeks to come.
It’s an unusual Holocaust documentary, in that it focuses not on concentration camps but on Jewish resistance, on young partisan fighters hiding out from Nazis in Eastern European forests and engaging in guerilla warfare. It’s surprising, moving, horrifying …and sometimes shockingly funny.
Filmmaker Julia Mintz never set out to do a Holocaust movie.
“I’d been raised on Anne Frank and Auschwitz and Jews being led like lambs to the slaughter,” she told me in an interview. “But I stumbled on an article about a Jewish partisan and learned that there were 25,000 people living in the woods and fighting. I had no idea there was a resistance movement. It fascinated me. I’d never even worked on a Jewish film, let alone made one, but I needed to know more.”

Egypt declares three days of mourning for Mubarak
Former Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak, who ruled for 30 years until he was ousted in a popular uprising against corruption and autocracy, died on Tuesday at the age of 91.
A partner of the West in fighting Islamists, Mubarak presided over an era of stagnation and repression at home and was an early victim of the “Arab Spring” revolutions that swept the region.
He died in intensive care a few weeks after undergoing surgery. Egypt’s presidency and armed forces mourned him as a hero for his role in the Yom Kippur War and the former air force officer will be given a military funeral.
Three days of public mourning were declared and state television played clips of Mubarak with a black ribbon at the corner of the screen. He is expected to be buried on Wednesday.

Sanders: I'd consider moving embassy back to Tel Aviv .... Bloomberg: "You Can't Move It Back."
Democratic presidential hopeful Senator Bernie Sanders said on Tuesday that, if elected president, he would consider moving the US embassy in Israel back to Tel Aviv from Jerusalem.
"The answer is it's something we would take into consideration," said Sanders at a Democratic primary presidential debate in South Carolina, when asked to comment on concern among American Jews that he’s not supportive enough of Israel. He then proceeded to once again criticize Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.
"But here's the point, I am very proud of being Jewish. I actually lived in Israel for some months. But what I happen to believe is that right now sadly, tragically in Israel through Bibi Netanyahu, you have a reactionary racist who is now running that country," he added.
Former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg also weighed in on the issue and said, “You can’t move the embassy back.” Instead, he said, “The answer is to obviously split it up.”

Reb Chaim Kanievsky: "Berland is Crazy"
In a rare and unusual recording that was published by BeChadrei Charedim news site, Hagaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky is heard making an extremely strong statement against the leader of the Shuvu Banim group, Rabbi Eliezer Berland.
The recording came about after a student of Rabbi Berland got into a verbal fight at a Kollel where he learned and sent a question to Hagaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky regarding the correctness of the words of the other student. Rabbi Kanievsky replied:
"The other student is correct. This Rabbi Berland is crazy.”
Rav Kanievsky is known to weigh each word carefully as thousands listen to him and follow his opinions closely.
The news site uncovered a second incident in which Rav Kanievsky called Berland a Rasha and told a fellow rabbi not to go anywhere near Berland.

Lost 1,000-year-old Tanach found on dusty Cairo synagogue shelf
In July 2017, Israeli historian Yoram Meital stumbled upon a handwritten 1028 CE biblical codex that was lying abandoned on a dusty shelf in a Cairo synagogue.
Wrapped in simple white paper of the sort one finds on tables in cheap eateries, at 616 pages, the Zechariah Ben ‘Anan Manuscript is one of the era’s most complete and preserved examples of the “Writings,” the third and concluding section of the Hebrew Bible.
It had been lost to scholars for almost 40 years.
Discovered by Meital in the Karaite Moussa Der’i Synagogue, the Zechariah Ben ‘Anan Manuscript (ZBAM) was previously documented in various publications by modern biblical scholars, from a 1905 Jewish Quarterly Review article by leading expert Richard Gottheil through to microfilms of the manuscript done by a team of Israelis from the Institute of Microfilmed Hebrew Manuscripts in June 1981.
The scholars left notes within the texts, and even published their findings. Then, as the Jewish community increasingly lost its members, the priceless manuscript, too, disappeared.
After decades of trips to Egypt for his academic publications as a professor at Ben-Gurion University, in July 2017 Meital was in Cairo as a private scholar taking part in a Jewish community project headed by the Drop of Milk organization to document the city’s many synagogues — and seeking fodder for an upcoming book.
