Two small, seemingly unrelated items in the news this week tell you pretty much everything you need to know about the Arab-Israeli conflict.
The first had to with an archaeological discovery in Israel. Many years ago, Israeli antiquities experts acquired an ancient inscribed bulla—a stamp used for sealing documents—that was of unknown provenance. It was obtained from a Bedouin merchant, not dug up by archaeologists. Given its condition, and without being able to examine the soil where it was uncovered, it was impossible for experts to precisely date or identify the bulla.
Impossible, that is, until the advent of new technology. Last week, Prof. Yuval Goren of Ben-Gurion University announced that thanks to the latest laboratory testing methods, he and his colleagues had determined that it is one of the earliest known bullas—it was used in the court of the Israelite king Jeroboam II, in the 8th century BCE.
The partially-preserved inscription on the seal shows a roaring lion, with the Hebrew words “L’Shema, eved Yerov’am,” that is, “Belonging to Shema, the servant [or minister] of Jeroboam.”
Keep that in mind as I describe the second news item. This one has to do with a group of activists known as the Pro-Israel Bay Bloggers, who last week noticed that “The Palestine Project,” an anti-Israel website, has been engaged in some pretty sleazy sleight-of-hand.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo is lucky he’s a Democrat — otherwise Lindsey Boylan’s charge that he “sexually harassed” her might lead to political challenges and media shame.
“Yes, @NYGovCuomo sexually harassed me for years. Many saw it, and watched,” the former Cuomo aide, now running for Manhattan beep, tweeted.
It’s a serious charge, one Cuomo flatly denies. The details? Boylan won’t say. She cites no specific allegations and provides no evidence. She won’t even respond to requests for further comment. “I have no interest in talking to journalists,” she declares. “I am about validating the experience of countless women and making sure abuse stops.”
Clearly Boylan thinks it’s now OK to level a broadside against a famous man without having to back it up with . . . anything.
But don’t blame her: The left often embraces the idea that “believing the victim” means skipping things like evidence and context — and what the accused has to say. This has been the default on college campuses for years and was the standard they tried to impose at the Brett Kavanaugh confirmation hearings.
Faced with a blanket accusation, Team Cuomo leaked bits of Boylan’s work record, undermining her claims. An internal memo obtained by The Post shows she quit her job with governor after allegations of harassment by her. But if a Republican leaked such a defense, it would be offered as only more evidence of his willingness to treat women despicably.
You have to regard Boylan’s claims with skepticism, since she offers no details or back-up and won’t even discuss the matter. But will the left and the media be so skeptical next time it’s someone from the political right facing such charges?

On Tuesday morning, the Israeli Supreme Court rejected an appeal lodged on behalf of Malka Leifer protesting her extradition to Australia, and ruled that the extradition would go ahead.
After years of litigation, Leifer will be sent back to Australia to stand trial for sexual offenses.
In her ruling, Judge Anat Baron wrote that, “Since the initial petition for extradition to Australia, more than six years have passed, years during which the defendant used every possible procedure and claim to prevent her extradition. Let it be known to all who would seek to evade justice in Israel that they will not find a place of refuge here.”
Commenting on the Court’s decision, Justice Minister Avi Nissenkorn said: “I welcome the Supreme Court's ruling declaring that the extradition of Malka Leifer to Australia is to go ahead. After many torturous years, it is time to do justice to Leifer's victims. I intend to sign the extradition order without delay.”
A petition to have Leifer extradited to Australia to face charges of sexual offenses committed against minors (her former students) was first presented in 2014. However, the District Court that heard the petition ruled that Leifer was unfit to stand trial in view of her mental state, and therefore the proceedings were terminated in 2016.
However, at the beginning of 2018, the extradition request was reinstated, due to suspicions that Leifer was exaggerating her mental health issues and presenting her condition falsely. A number of expert psychiatric opinions were presented, resulting in the District Court ruling that Leifer was indeed fit to stand trial.
Leifer’s legal representatives appealed this ruling in the Supreme Court, which rejected it two and a half weeks ago. The District Court then ordered Leifer to be extradited, and this morning, the appeal on the extradition was rejected by the Supreme Court.

Coronavirus project manager Professor Nachman Ash met on Monday with Dr. Michal Shani, chairwoman of the Israel Association of Family Physicians, in order to jointly lead the public diplomacy efforts regarding the vaccines against the coronavirus.
Prof. Ash said during the meeting, "We see the family physicians as a significant player in front of the public who seek information about the vaccine."
Dr. Shani received an overview of the preparations for the administration of the vaccines and added, "The Association of Family Physicians is a full partner in informing and making the information about the vaccine accessible. The public mostly turns to family doctors and consults with us before receiving the vaccine."
"The vaccine is safe. Get vaccinated!" she added.
The participants at the meeting formulated the appropriate outline for the transfer of information to the medical staff and unanimously agreed on the need for transparency with respect to all information about the studies conducted, and on the efficacy and safety of the coronavirus vaccines.
The health maintenance organizations (HMO) will begin distributing coronavirus vaccines to Israeli citizens next Wednesday, December 23.
There are currently 313,000 vaccines from Pfizer in Israel, according to the Health Ministry's National Immunization Technical Advisory Group.
The advisory group has recommended that in the first stage only healthcare workers, the elderly, caregivers for the elderly, and adults over the age of 60 or 65 be given the vaccine. However, no final decision has been made on which groups to prioritize for vaccination.

If there is one thing that the Hunter Biden laptop episode has proved, it is that former directors of the CIA aren’t as adept at evaluating evidence as advertised.
Five former directors or acting directors of the CIA signed a letter asserting that the laptop, first reported by this newspaper in the weeks before the election, “has all the hallmarks of Russian information operation.”
More than 50 former senior intel officials, including former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, signed the letter, which was used by the Biden campaign and the media to discredit the damning e-mails about Hunter Biden’s business dealings.
The signatories should have thought better of their missive when they felt compelled to include the line, “We want to emphasize that we do not know if the e-mails, provided to the New York Post by President Trump’s personal attorney, are genuine or not, and that we do not have evidence of Russian involvement.”
That also should have tipped off reporters to the fact that the letter was rank speculation masquerading as informed analysis. But true to form, they happily ran with it instead.
In a complete reversal from the Cold War era, journalists in the Trump years have not only reflexively believed representations from national-security professionals about nefarious Russian plots, they have actively sought them out and promoted them.

Jill Biden on Sunday night responded to the controversy surrounding a recent Wall Street Journal editorial that argued she should refrain from using the title “Dr.” before her name.
“Together, we will build a world where the accomplishments of our daughters will be celebrated, rather than diminished,” Biden wrote on Twitter.
The editorial, written by Joseph Epstein, said it “feels fraudulent, not to say a touch comic” for the title to be used by Jill Biden, who has a doctorate in education from the University of Delaware.
“A wise man once said that no one should call himself ‘Dr.’ unless he has delivered a child,” Epstein wrote.
He also referred to the first lady-elect as “kiddo” in the first sentence.
The editorial had received backlash from many including the Biden transition team, who called the piece “sexist.”
″You and the @WSJ should be embarrassed to print the disgusting and sexist attack on @DrBiden running on the @WSJopinion page,” Biden spokesman Michael LaRosa tweeted at WSJ editorial features editor James Taranto.
“If you had any respect for women at all you would remove this repugnant display of chauvinism from your paper and apologize to her.”
A separate editorial penned by the Wall Street Journal’s editorial page editor, Paul A. Gigot, on Sunday claimed that the Biden team and the media were playing the “gender card to stifle criticism.”
“Why go to such lengths to highlight a single op-ed on a relatively minor issue?” he wrote.
“My guess is that the Biden team concluded it was a chance to use the big gun of identity politics to send a message to critics as it prepares to take power.”

Archaeologists said Monday that they have unearthed one of the largest oil lamp workshops discovered in Israel, dating back 1,600-1,700 years, in a discovery that also solves a more modern mystery: the lost location of a cistern with ancient artifacts that was found by a researcher more than 85 years ago.
According to the Israel Antiquities Authority, the workshop, in the city of Beit Shemesh — unearthed ahead of the construction of a new neighborhood — contained hundreds of ancient ceramic oil lamps, two of which bore the Jewish symbol of the menorah, as well as stone molds for the production of lamps, and terracotta figurines.
