“I don’t speak because I have the power to speak; I speak because I don’t have the power to remain silent.” Rav Kook z"l

Guys Come Home Before It's Too Late ...25,000 Calls from the US During June Alone to Nefesh B’Nefesh

Guys take pity on your children and grandchildren ... come home...
It's not an exaggeration ....
just where I live I used to see signs "for Rent" or "For Sale" all the time...
Today I have not found a sign or a poster anywhere ... in fact in my building was a poster with a phone number ...begging ..us if we know of any apt for rent or sale..
Across the street from my home, 12 apartment building are going up... all the apartments are already sold, just last month they were offering all kinds of discounts and incentives ... no more ...

If your married children want to stay ... leave them there ...do not listen to the rebbes .... they were absolutely wrong pre WW2 and they are wrong now ..
Sell your homes and business and come home...it's time..

Nefesh B’Nefesh, the veteran Jewish organization which has been encouraging aliya from western countries and the USA, reported unprecedented interest in options for aliya during the month of June. In the wake of the coronavirus, numerous people called the organization, which in a normal month receives several hundred to a few thousand calls. Many of those calling wanted to open aliya application procedures.

40 US Jews arrived in Israel Wednesday. In accordance with health regulations, they will spend two weeks in quarantine and then will be able to enter their new homes in Israel. Absorption Minister Penina Tamno-Shata told Arutz Sheva that “I am happy to welcome the arrival of new immigrants from America. They join the more than 7000 Jews who have immigrated to Israel in the past few months. Despite the challenges facing us due to the coronavirus pandemic, the state of Israel will always remain open to aliya at all times, whether during crisis periods or normal times. There is a significant rise in the level of interest, number of aliya applications and initiated procedures and at present the ministry of immigration and absorption which I head is preparing a broad national program for the large waves of aliya expected in the coming years.”
The director and founder of Nefesh B’Nefesh, Rabbi Yehoshua Fass, added that “in the past few months we have seen a tremendous leap in the number of calls to the Nefesh B’Nefesh hotline. The coronavirus crisis is not abating and thousands continue to express interest in immigrating to Israel. It is our duty to translate the interest of thousands into the immigration of thousands. Nefesh B’Nefesh is here to assist them together with all the national and governmental bodies.”

One Rebbe Dies and Now there are Nine!

This reminds me of the "makkeh tzfardeia" the plaque of frogs... according to Rashi there was only one frog ,but when some smart aleck hit it, it multiplied like crazy...

Death as they say is really part of life...
So usually when a Rebbe departs from this world, his oldest son becomes rebbe...or if there are daughters ..a son-in-law....

Except of course in Satmar, when the Beirach Moshe, the previous Satmar Rebbe appointed his younger son, R' Zalman Leib to replace him ...the oldest one, R' Aron Teitelbaum hauled his old feeble father to a court appointed psychiatrist to prove that he had gone insane.. and now we have two rebbes....

In Bobov, the eldest son of Reb Shlomo was Naftulchi, who succeeded him.... when Naftulchi died, he left no sons, but plenty of daughters, so his son-in-law Rav Unger crowned himself successor... until Ben Zion the younger son of Reb Shlomo crowned himself Rebbe since according to his Torah, he is the Yoirish... so now we have two Bobovers...One is Bobov 45 and one is Bobov 48.... (Bobov 45 isn't even on 45th street, he is on 51st Street)

When the Sanzer Rebbe from Boro-Park died, he left 9 sons... so I know exactly what you are thinking ...
Who is the oldest ... let's make him rebbe...
not so fast ....
At the leveyeh, when traditionally the successor is announced....
they announced that all 9 sons will be rebbes ...

So now there will be 9 new shuls with 9 new rebbes,.when their father was still alive ... he struggled with a minyan, but he didn't have to worry too much because between him and his children he had his very own minyan and didn't need any outsiders..
let's see what happens now...

I forgot ... there will be 10 rebbetzins now... which means 10 luckshin kugels ....

Monsey Rabbis Throw "Steinmetz Hashgacha Under the Bus

The Forshyer Rebbe just sent out a notice to his congregants that  he will not allow any "food with R' Yechiel Steinmetz's" Hashgacha in his shul....
The Forshayer is the same rabbi who continued with his Melave Malka, singing and clapping, while one of his loyal followers, who had just minutes before been stabbed in the head by a black assailant, was rushed to the hospital where he subsequently succumbed to his wounds. The Forshyer aka The Kossinyer Rebbe, defiantly kept his shul open during the entire Covid-19 pandemik. The rebbe is more concerned about some guy in his shul fressing a questionably Glatt kosher juicy steak than he is about the guy's life.
However, there was a meeting of local Monsey Rabbanim, who came to the conclusion that the Hashgacha of R' Yechiel Steinmetz or Steimets (there is a chilukei deos on how to spell his name) is worthless.. they didn't say what it was that Rav Steinmetz did wrong just that his hashgacha is worthless...
All this while restaurants are struggling to stay afloat.
This "Steinmetz" hashgacha is very popular in Monsey and has many restaurants with his hechshir. According to those who attended this meetings the rabbis pointed out that they had many lengthy discussions with him and asked him to correct many of the "violations" but he ignored their advice ..

So just like the BLM leaders brought gigantic companies down to their knees so will these rabbis now destroy the "Steinmetz" Hashgacha in one fell swoop...

Unless he served treif and there is no evidence that the restaurants under his hashgacha did ... he should be able to stay in business... after all he doesn't have to kow tow to R Rottenberg ..he can have his own standards ...but so far there is no further info..
We all know the Finkel Treif saga in Monsey awhile ago...
And I have a question.......
What is it with the heimishe hashgachas that have major Kashrus issues ....?
You hardly ever see this with the OU?
My advice... eat from OU hashgachas....

Pass me a Devil Dog or better yet pass me a Yankee Doodle...

Let them Eat Cake!

My Dear Readers,
Covid-19 has apparently dumbed down our community.

In the years past, people would ask our rabbanim serious "shaalis" especially when one met a Gadol Hador....
Now our holy community that finishes Shas every seven years and learns and finishes Mishna Berurah, want to know if they can bring home an "eyer kichel" for their lady that was slaving in the hot kitchen, doing homework with the kids, trying her best to get her brood of  screaming brats to sleep, while he was having a drink with his buddies..

Now I admit that I have been by Rav Chaim Kanievsky, after calling a friend of mine in the US who has "pull" there. And even after all the "protektzi," I still had to wait hours to finally get in there and was warned repeatedly to keep it down to three minutes....
So of course I prepped to get everything I wanted to say in the allotted time.....

So here comes a guy who probably was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and on silk sheets, waits who knows how long to get to see the Gadol Hador and guess what he asks him?

Please .... Please ... I got to get out of here... Please...

Thousand Satmar Chassidim Celebrate the "End of the Virus"

The Satmar Rebbe, R' Aron Teitelbaum, had announced that right after the virus dissipates he will make a grand seudas hoda'ah.
He wasn't kidding and kept his word....
A thousand Satmar Chassidim attended a royal banquet in honor of the "end of the virus." Not one of the guests wore a mask, and there was absolutely no social distancing....
The Seuda "officially" celebrated a Siyum Mishnayois, which ordinary kids do all the time at their Bar-Mitzvas.....and no one invited knew about that, they thought they were coming to the Seudas Hoda'ah....

I guess someone figured out that people were still getting very sick, and there isn't a day that someone doesn't die from the virus... people would realize how stupid and silly that would look like, so he quickly ordered banners that read "Siyum Mishnayois..

Yurzeit of the Ohr Ha'Chayim Hakodosh

I personally feel very connected to The Ohr Hachayim Hakodosh; I had the privilege to give a well attended Ohr Hachatim Hakodosh Shiur in Monsey for over 12 years .....

Rav Chayim ben Moshe Ibn Attar (1696-1743) was called "The Ohr Hachayim" after his sefer on chumash, ...he was one of the most prominent Kabbalists.

He was born in Morocco, and in 1733 settled in Ottoman Syria.
Rav Chayim married his cousin Fatzonia, but was not blessed with children, so Fatzonia encouraged him to marry a second wife, Esther.

In 1742 he tried to settle  in Yerushalyim .. but was forced to live in Akko instead,  due to an epidemic in Yerushalyim.
On the 15th of Ellul 1742, Rav Chayim finally entered Yerushalyim but sadly was niftar less than a year later.

Rav Chayim departed the world at Mincha time, Parshas Pinchos 15th of Tammuz and was only 47 years old.

It is related that during Shalosh Seudas, the Baal Shem Tov who lived in Europe, thousands of miles from Yerushalyim, sensed that the Ohr Hachyim had died, and exclaimed
" The light from the West has been extinguished."

During the period of Jordanian control of Har Hazeisim between 1948 and 1967, there was mass desecration of the Jewish graves. The Arabs even decided to build a road through this ancient cemetery which would pass directly over the grave of the Ohr Hachayim.
When the bulldozer came within inches of the grave, however, something strange happened. The engine sputtered and died. Another attempt the following day failed in a more spectacular way. As the bulldozer rushed towards the grave at full speed, it suddenly flipped over and plunged into the adjoining Valley of Kidron, killing its driver.
The Arabs thereupon abandoned their plans for desecrating this holy grave and rerouted their road to pass much higher on the mountainside. Visitors to the grave can clearly see how the original clearing went straight in the direction of the Ohr Hachayims grave.
Both of his wives passed away within a few years after R' Chaim's death, and were buried next to him.

His famous disciple was the Chidda.

Ke'dai to light a candle for his neshama...

When the Sixth Lubavitcher Rebbe Met Harav Avraham Yitzchok Kook

There is a Hebrew weekly Chabad newsletter called "kareiv eilecha" that is distributed in Israel, and in honor of the Rebbe's release of the Soviet Gulag on Yud Bais Tammuz, they dedicated the issue to his visit of Eretz Yisrael in 1929.

It is interesting to note that the rebbe visited Chevron just days before the pogrom of 1929 in which Arabs massacred sixty-nine innocent Jews, on August 24, 1929.

Harav Yosef Yitzchok Schneerson (1880-1950) was the sixth Rebbe of Chabad, known as the "Frierdiker Rebbe" or the Rebbe Rayatz,
He was the father-in-law of the last Lubavitcher Rebbe, R' Menachem Mendel z"l.

It was Harav Kook z"l that leaked the news that the Russian Secret Police arrested the Rebbe on June 27, 1927, in a telegram to The Joint ..on June 28.

“Grave news received, Rabbi Schneierson of Lubovitch (sic) arrested [in] Leningrad [by] Bolsheviks. Try utmost for deliveration (sic). Wire results.”

It was only two years later, that the Rebbe would visit the holy city of Jerusalem, occasioning a particularly emotional meeting with Rav Kook z"l to thank him for his efforts.

The photo below depicts the posters that Rav Kook posted in Yerushalyim upon the Rebbe's release

The Rebbe arrived in Yerushalyim after taking a train from Alexandria Egypt, in 1929.
And on Wednesday the 2nd day of Av 1929, in the afternoon he visited the Kotel.
On his way back from the Kotel he went to visit Rav Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld z"l.

The next morning, the Rebbe went with a large entourage to visit Harav Avraham Yitzckok Hacohen Kook.
According to the newsletter, after discussing some divrei Torah, the Rebbe hinted to all in attendance to leave him with Rav Kook alone so they could discuss the terrible circumstances that the Jews in Russia were in (don't forget this was a bad time for Jews in Russia which was then Communist).

Rav Kook wore a special kippa in honor of the rebbes visit, it was a kippa made from material of the "Zemach Tzeddik's (the third rebbe of Chabad.) coat. Rav Kook received it as a gift when he was just a teenager, and would wear it exclusively on the High Holy Days.

The Rebbe and Rav Kook met two more times during this visit. Harav Aryeh Levin z"l attended one of those meetings.

On Friday on the 23rd of August 1929, the Rebbe left Eretz Yisrael on a train to Alexandra Egypt the first leg of his journey to the USA, and just hours later Arabs murdered 69 of his fellow Jews in Chevron.... some of those murdered had met with the rebbe just  a few hours earlier.

The Rebbe and Harav Kook subsequently corresponded frequently. In fact, the Rebbe wrote Rav Kook a letter when the Rebbe arrived a month later in the  US  where he expressed his sentiments vis a vis the Chevron massacre, and blessed Harav Kook with a Happy New Year.

UN expert deems US drone strike on Iran's Soleimani the murderer of thousands an 'unlawful' killing

.
In a world gone insane, this yente is called an "expert." The US killed, Qassem Soleimani, the murderer of US troops and the murderer of thousands of women and children with a drone, yet Agnes Callamard from the UN, finds the execution of this animal "unlawful".
One of her complaints is that he was killed by a drone.... ok.. I get it, next time the US should execute an Iranian murderer when he is sitting with his family in a restaurant..... !
What makes her an "expert?"
I see that she conducted human rights investigations in Africa, Asia and the Middle East, and has yet to come to any conclusions from her findings.... but to stop a guy who is a threat to the world by killing him, that's "unlawful."

The January US drone strike in Iraq that killed top Iranian general Qassem Soleimani and nine other people represented a violation of international law, a UN human rights investigator said on Monday.
