FBI ENTERS NEW SQUARE TERROR CASE, New Square will pray for Chaim Aaron Rottenberg on Sunday!

From the Journal News:
NEW SQUARE — The FBI is working with Ramapo police on an investigation into an attack that left a Hasidic dissident with third-degree burns over half his body, authorities said Friday.
"They will assist us and will not take over the case," said Ramapo Detective Lt. Mark Emma. "If they determine federal crimes have been committed, they will make a determination on whether to pursue them."
Police and the FBI will not only investigate the attempt to burn down the home of Aron Rottenberg, 43, but also months of vandalism, harassment and threats in the Hasidic Jewish village, Emma said.
FBI spokesman Tim Flannelly declined to comment, saying the bureau's policy is not to discuss whether there is an investigation. A spokesman for U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara also declined to comment.
If federal authorities do decide to pursue a case, they would likely look at potential violations of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, said a former federal prosecutor .
"I think if they have jurisdictional grounds, this would be something they would look at," said Kenneth P. Thompson, who, as an assistant U.S. attorney in Brooklyn, prosecuted five New York City police officers in the 1997 assault of Haitian immigrant Abner Louima.
Since September, scores of New Square residents have protested several times outside the homes of Rottenberg and others who have chosen to worship at places other than the synagogue of New Square's Grand Rebbe David Twersky.
Windows have been broken in their homes and cars, and their children have been threatened with expulsion from local religious schools, according to police reports. They also said they received threatening phone calls.
The incidents began after Rottenberg and some friends started praying regularly at Friedwald House senior residence outside of New Square rather than Twersky's synagogue.
On May 22, Rottenberg was burned when an incendiary device exploded as he wrestled with 18-year-old Shaul Spitzer outside Rottenberg's home.
Spitzer is a butler at Twersky's home and the cousin of the village's deputy mayor. Spitzer was also burned during the incident and is at a New York City hospital. He has been charged with arson and attempted murder.
The religious component of the alleged crime could make it a federal case, Thompson said.
"If it's a federal crime to burn down a church, a synagogue, a mosque because of someone's religion," he said, "why wouldn't it be a federal crime to burn down someone's house because of their religion?"
Emma said the investigation focuses on Spitzer but that earlier reports of vandalism were also part of the probe. Rottenberg's lawyer, Michael Sussman, who has called for a federal investigation, wrote a letter to Ramapo police chief Peter Brower on May 30 accusing the police of aligning itself with Twersky. Sussman wrote that the department had a report of a prior act of vandalism at Rottenberg's home but made no arrests. "We can't let him run our investigation," Emma said. "We will continue with our goal to get Spitzer convicted of the crimes he's been charged with." Rockland Legislator Joseph Meyers, D-Airmont, threw his support behind a federal investigation into New Square. Rep. Elliot Engel, D-Bronx, who represents parts of Rockland, called the attack on Rottenberg "horrific." "Justice must be vigorously pursued in this case," Engel said. "It is essential that this crime be thoroughly investigated to determine the extent of culpability."No other political leaders have called for federal intervention. U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer, D-New York, declined comment.
Meanwhile New Square will "Davin" for Rottenberg!

NEW SQUARE — The Hasidic Jewish community plans a prayer session Sunday night for the man severely burned during an attempted arson allegedly by a follower of the grand rabbi.
Prayers and speeches will be offered for Aron Rottenberg at the community's synagogue, a large white stone building down Truman Avenue from Rottenberg's house.
Rottenberg, 43, a plumber who is married with children, remains in Westchester Medical Center with third-degree burns on 50 percent of his body.
He was severely burned on May 22 about 4 a.m.
Rottenberg and other residents say they had been targeted for protests and vandalism since September when they broke Grand Rabbi David Twersky's rules by praying outside the New Square synagogue at a local nursing home.
Shaul Spitzer, 18, is charged with felony counts of attempted murder and arson, along with assault.
During a struggle behind his neighbor's house, an incendiary device exploded, burning Rottenberg and Spitzer, Ramapo police said.
Spitzer is hospitalized in New York City with third-degree burns on his hands.
The prayer session is the first public event acknowledging Rottenberg's injuries.
Twerksy has spoken against violence and wished a recovery to those injured. Rottenberg's family blames the rabbi for not stepping in to stop the months of harassment that preceded the attack.
"New Square residents are continuing to pray for speedy recovery of those hurt and to remain the community known internationally since its inception for acts of charity," said Hank Sheinkopf, spokesman for the Committee of Friends of New Square, a group of concerned residents.

Recent New Square Terror Attacks!

A report from today's Journal News
Windows were shattered, cars were vandalized and groups of men protested outside Aron Rottenberg's house well before he was badly burned confronting a man with an incendiary device.
Rottenberg and his friends called Ramapo police eight times in the fall, claiming they were being tormented for opting to pray outside of the Hasidic congregation, a Journal News review of police records shows.
But although patrols were increased, detectives did not get involved until last month — when windows were smashed on the family's Truman Avenue home.
That probe was still going on when Rottenberg was seriously burned early May 22. He remains at Westchester Medical
Center, where he underwent additional surgery Tuesday.

The suspect, 18-year-old Shaul Spitzer, is charged with
attempted murder and arson.Spitzer, a butler at the home of New Square Grand Rabbi David Twersky and cousin of the village's deputy mayor, was also burned during the incident and is at a New York City hospital.

Detective Sgt. John Lynch of the Ramapo police said he became aware of the other incidents — most of which he described as minor — only after the Rottenberg house
was vandalized May 14.
"A call like a broken window, a standalone case like that is not going to make it to the detective bureau," Lynch said Wednesday. "We have approximately 55,000 calls a year. In the real world here, if there's no forensic evidence or need for a further investigation, the investigation is conducted by the police officers handling the incident."

New Square is run by the Skver Hasidic sect, whose leadership and rabbinical court issued a letter in November warning that it was a serious violation not to worship in the main synagogue and that anyone who prayed elsewhere must be stopped from using the communitiy's facilities.

But the first signs of internal strife came two months earlier, in mid-September, shortly after Rottenberg and some friends started praying regularly at the Friedwald House senior residence outside the village.
On Sept. 13, he and two other men reported that windows on their cars had been smashed.
Five weeks later, on Friday, Oct. 22, another friend, Jacob Surkis, reported that the license plates were stolen from his van. He told police that whoever stole his plates was trying to "make his life difficult" because of his decision where to pray
That same day, Rottenberg called police to report harassment and suspicious activity around his house. He said there was a knock on his upstairs bedroom window at 4:30 that morning and when he looked outside, he found a block of wood that he assumed had been used to reach the window.
He claimed that three days earlier, someone had left a message on his phone at 5:11 a.m. advising him not to send his 15-year-old daughter to school so she would not be embarrassed.
When he opened his front door at 8:45, her school desk and other belongings were on the front porch.
He told police he stopped sending her to school at that point and asked if they could increase their patrols in the village, with emphasis on his neighborhood — especially early Saturday mornings..
"Rottenberg advises that there is a small group of men who have decided to attend schul (sic) outside of the village and that all of these men have been tormented ever since," police said in an Oct. 22 report. The next night, as many as 50 men gathered outside Rottenberg's home and he called police. The group dispersed when cops arrived and the officers warned Rottenberg to stay out of harm's way and not confront the group.

Police suggested Rottenberg videotape such gatherings in case suspects ever needed to be identified.

Rottenberg asked the officers to speak with Mendel Berger, who lived around the corner, suggesting that Berger held somesway over the group and could get them to stop. But Berger told the officers he wanted nothing to do with the situation.

An hour later, the block was filled with hundreds of community residents who had blocked the road with metal barriers. Most were there protesting Rottenberg, his wife told police, but there was also a group supporting him. The officers eventually got the crowd to leave the area.
Rottenberg's wife called police just before 1 a.m. Oct. 29 to report that someone had smashed a rear bedroom window.

She said people in the community were trying to force the family to move out.
That Sabbath, a friend, Mordechai Surkis, stayed at the house while the Rottenbergs were away.
An officer was patrolling Truman Avenue just after 3 a.m. Oct. 30 when Surkis approached to say that a window in the house had been broken. The officer reported that he had seen a group of about a dozen Hasidic teenagers just before Surkis came outside, but that the group had left the area.
The next day, Jacob Surkis told police that his car windshield was smashed on Washington Avenue.
That was the last report to police until May 14, when three windows were smashed at the Rottenberg house around 3 a.m. Detective Sgt. Lynch said police do not believe that Spitzer was involved in that incident and that they have two teen suspects and expect to make an arrest.
The May 14 vandalism prompted the family to install video surveillance cameras and — for the first time — led to an
investigation by Ramapo detectives. Lynch said detectives get called in only when crimes have patterns or when there
are higher level felonies involved.
"In some cases, the challenge is the lack of evidence, the lack of witnesses," Lynch said. "The fact is we don't have enough evidence or witnesses to prosecute offenders in some of the cases. I mean — the police officers weren't present when these crimes occurred."

"Der Blatt" A Satmar Paper, Smudges the picture of Netanyahu!

This week as I do every week, I bought the Satmar Newspaper, Der Blatt.
Every single week, all Satmar Newspapers, Dee Zeitung, Der Yid, and Der Blatt bombard their readers with hate against the State of Israel. Those who read Yiddish, will find their editorials and articles filled with vile & hateful stories against their fellow brothers and sisters. Their opinions are no different than what you read  in Al Jazirah, or what we read in the German Newspaper "Der Sturmer" during the Nazi era.

My dear readers, when we read this in the Arab Media we all shout Anti- Semitisim, so why is it that we allow these Jewish gangsters to fill their pages with Loshon Horah on a weekly basis? Why do we continue to fund their institutions when they pray for the downfall and the disappearance of the Jewish State, which would inevitably cause the annihilation of the Jewish People as we know it, G-D forbid? We all know that their schools breed generations of haters .
Just last week I posted an article from their Web Site Jewsagainstzionism.comPlease see my post Dus Iz Nies

But this week, Der Blatt, took it to another level . They actually blotted out the picture of the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, but left in the picture of President Barak, a President  that wants Israel to commit suicide. Failedmessiah  reported it today and its imperative to let the Jewish People know what they are up against.
Here is a loose translation from a paragraph gleaned from their filthy newspaper, from page 57
"Professor" Netanyahu lectures Obama
Since Obama became the President and brought in his Liberal leanings in American politics, the State of Israel moved in the opposite direction leaning sharply to the right. Most Israeli citizens believe the false claims that Obama is a hidden Muslim , and nearly all of them believe the theory that whether Obama is a Muslim or not, he is ready to sell the State of Israel for a pot of lentils."
President Obama is convinced that the Arab World is ready for democracy, but that the State of Israel with its instigation against the Palestinians would rather be prepared for new war then a new peace."
Dus is Neis: This disgusting article continues to spew lies and hate against Netanyahu , while praising the President whose record so far with Israel is the worst since the creation of the State. In these few lines that I gleaned, there are no less than 3 blatant lies.

  1. Netanyahu never lectured the President, he was actually very respectful, he pointed out that Israel cannot go back to the 67' borders because that would be indefensible. He also explained that Israel can never allow all the Arabs to return because that would in effect destroy the Jewish State as we know it. (This is something that both the Arabs and Satmar would agree would be a good thing)
  2. The Blatt wrote that "most Israeli citizens believe the false claims that Obama is a hidden Muslim, the truth is that only 39% of Israelis believe he is a Muslim : politico.com   By the way 24% of Americans believe that Barack Hussein Obama is a Muslim Foxnews poll
  3. The lying Blatt writes "State of Israel with its instigation against the Palestinians would rather be prepared for new war then a new peace." When did the State instigate anything against the Palestinians?  Which country would tolerate thousands of missiles flying in their heartlands? Which country would not want to protect their citizens from such an onslaught. How long would Satmar tolerate missiles flying into Williamsburg from Crown Heights? Years ago when the Lubavitchers sent Sheluchim into Williamsburg on Yom Tov, the Satmars beat the hell out of them.

As I have written may times before, how many Jews will become frum because of this article? So why are they backing Obama over Netanyahu?
Some bloggers have suggested that the reason Der Blatt smudged out the face of Netanyahu is because one should never look at the face of an Evil person, and since Netanyahu is "evil" they blotted his face out. But that is not true, because Der Blatt, and Dee Zeitung have published pictures of Hitler and Eichman and other evil pictures in the past.
My theory is very simple.... they must back Obama because he will keep them on the  programs, even at the expense of the Jewish People.
The Yiddish caption underneath the picture reads:
"The Media points out how Netanyahu turned his face away from President Obama, as one of the most undiplomatic photos in the history of diplomacy"
    But these are the facts:
Netanyahu did not turn his face away from the President but was actually turning to face a reporter that was asking him a question, it was Obama who turned his face away showing his disinterest in the whole process. Der Blatt quotes from the Anti-Semitic Media, and makes it look like it was a fact.. What Chutzpah!
Read here what the media sympathetic to Israel actually wrote:
President Obama’s speech on the Middle East at the State Department last week, his icy glares at Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the Oval Office last Friday, his address before the AIPAC conference on Sunday, and his subsequent press briefings have all made clear that he is not sympathetically inclined toward Israel, nor does he consider Israel an ally worth defending.
Obama’s advocacy of the 1949 armistice lines as a starting point for negotiations demonstrate his lack of support for Israel’s right to defensible borders. His non-response to the Hamas-Fatah unity deal demonstrates that there is nothing the Palestinians can do that will make him accept the reality that their commitment to Israel’s destruction, rather than Israel’s continued control over Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria, is the reason there is no peace between them and Israel.
And yet, disturbingly, major Jewish American organizations took it upon themselves this past week to defend Obama to their members and to the general public. The most prominent example of this was the Anti-Defamation League’s press release following Obama’s State Department speech. After Obama endorsed the Palestinian position that negotiations must be based on the indefensible 1949 armistice lines, and did so in the face of explicit Israeli entreaties that he abstain from doing so, the ADL released a statement applauding Obama.
ADL leaders Abe Foxman and Robert Sugarman congratulated Obama for his support for Israel. Among other things, their statement said, “This Administration has come a long way in two years in terms of understanding of the nuances involved in bringing about Israeli-Palestinian peace and a better understanding of the realities and challenges confronting Israel.”
Why on earth did the ADL feel it necessary to defend the indefensible? Why, in the midst of an open fight between Obama and the Israeli government, did the ADL feel it necessary to side with Obama against the government of Israel?
In his speech before AIPAC on Sunday, Obama did not repudiate his attachment to the Palestinians’ negotiating position. He did not mention any objection to the Palestinian demand to overrun Israel with millions of foreign Arabs. He did not announce any steps the U.S. will take to end its support for the Hamas-controlled Palestinian Authority, despite the fact that continued funding is outlawed by U.S. terror finance laws.
Moreover, Obama’s speech to AIPAC included a barely-veiled threat against Israel when he asserted, “There is a reason why the Palestinians are pursuing their interests at the United Nations. They recognize that there is an impatience with the peace process – or the absence of one. Not just in the Arab world, but in Latin America, in Europe, and in Asia. That impatience is growing, and is already manifesting itself in capitols around the world.”

    Sarah Palin and Esther Hamalkah

    Editorial of New York Sun
The growing signs that Sarah Palin may enter the race for president are igniting warnings that she takes inspiration from Esther. The signs that she might run include reports that she has purchased a house that could serve as a base for a national campaign, that she has given her approval to a film that depicts her years as governor of Alaska and that will debut at Iowa, and that she’s launching a “One Nation” bus tour. One of the warnings about her that crossed our screen was a blog post by Andrew Sullivan, who writes that Mrs. Palin “is running against the media; she is running as a victim; she is running for revenge.” He adds: “I, for one, feel nothing but a chill go up my spine.” And then: “Queen Esther is coming. Look busy.”
What’s with this angst over Esther? She is, after all, one of the great heroes in the Jewish story. It was Esther who, at great risk to herself, exposed to King Ahasureus the plot of Haman to kill the Jews of Persia and thus saved her people. When Benyamin Korn first reported in the Sun that Mrs. Palin used the biblical Book of Esther as bedtime reading material for her eight-year-old daughter, it caused something of an internet sensation. Mrs. Palin, Mr. Korn reported, wants her daughter to emulate Esther, “who,” as Mr. Korn put it, “risked everything to save the Jewish people from Haman’s plan for genocide.” It’s lost on no one that once again the threat of genocide hangs over the Jewish people from Persia, whence Iran openly threatens to wipe Israel off the map. If Esther is a heroine who resonates for Mrs. Palin, what it shows is how deeply rooted is her understanding of our modern world.
So what about it could possibly cause a chill in a sage of the left? Maybe they fear that by expressing admiration for Esther Mrs. Palin is suggesting that the leftist leaders might be comparable to Haman. We don’t believe that is what Mrs. Palin is suggesting. But surely the story of Esther will give her comprehension the current tyranny at Iran is comparable to the tyranny from which Esther delivered the Jews. So her admiration for Esther does not send a chill down our spine. It engenders in us a sense of encouragement that here is a leader who understands the long history and the current emergency. We do not suggest she is the only one. We do suggest she is one with a much deeper comprehension of the current world than the capital gives her credit for — a circumstance she shares with a certain Jewish woman of long ago.

TSA Agents Pat Down Child, Little Old Lady; Ignore Man Dressed In Arab Garb!

The Hill reports: "I walked through … right behind me there was a grandmother — little old lady, and she  was patted down," Rep. Paul Broun (R-Georgia) said on C-SPAN's "Washington Journal."

"Right behind her was a little kid who was patted down. And then right behind him was a guy in Arabian dress who just walked right through. Why are we patting down grandma and kids?"

Skverer Rebbi Condemns The Violence & Wishes the Victim Well

    Updated May 27, 2011
From Failed Messiah a recording in yiddish by the Skevere Rebbi who under tremendous pressure had to cave in an issue a statement
Skeverer Rebbi finally telling students not to resort to violence!
In this statement the Rebbi does ask that violence never be used, and wished a "Refuah Shlimah" for all those who need it,

Lipa Shmelter visits Chaim Aaron Rottenberg

    Journal News:
The Skvere Rebbe has not expressed any sympathy for Aron Rottenberg. He has not even asked his followers to pray for Rottenberg's recovery. This dynastic leader goes on with his regal life as if nothing has happened, as if a man is not lying in a hospital bed fighting for his life with the skin and flesh burned from half his body, simply because he did not want to pray at the Rebbe's synagogue.

Yet under the direction of the Skvere Rebbe a man was harassed, threatened and attacked. And then he and his family were almost murdered.

That harassment and those attacks are crimes. They are violations of Aaron Rottenberg's civil rights and the civil rights of his wife and children. Their attempted murder is hate crime, and the attempted arson of the Rotenberg home is no different than the burning of a black church or the firebombing of a synagogue.

These are federal crimes. They cry out for federal investigation.

And that investigation if faithfully conducted will, I believe, lead to the conviction and imprisonment of New Square's rabbinic and governmental leadership, including Rabbi David Twersky, the not so grand rabbi of the cult and criminal enterprise known as New Square.

Rottenberg's wife, Ruth Rottenberg, told reporters in her home Wednesday that the family had been harassed since her husband started attending prayers at a nearby nursing facility around the High Holidays in the fall. She said he believed prayers were too long in the main synagogue.

Their 15-year-old daughter was soon kicked out of school, she said, and their home and car windows were smashed. A week before the attack, an anonymous phone caller said their house "won't be worth a penny," she said.

Calls to the police went nowhere."It sounded like this was acceptable, to police, to everyone," she said.
Rottenberg's civil rights were violated in an ongoing campaign that culminated in the attempted murder of his entire family and himself.

Ramapo police and the Ramapo government appear to have been complicit in this and, at the very least, their indefensible inaction allowed the hatred of Rottenberg to grow and fester, and made the hate crime against him and his family possible.

The crimes against the Rottenbergs cry out for federal investigation.

The federal government should immediately launch an investigation of Ramapo's police and government.

But Pinches Dirnfeld is also right.

The Rebbe of Skvere knew about the violent and harrassing acts leading up to this week's attempted arson and murder. Yet he never condemned that violence and harrassment. Indeed, his rabbinic court sent out notices ordering residents to harrass the Rottenbergs.

And then early Sunday morning the Rebbe's personal butler donned a mask and (according to some, with several other men) went to the Rottenberg's house and tried to burn it down while the family slept.

But because of the family's vigilance and Aron Rottenberg's bravery, the house and Rottenberg's family were spared.

Rottenberg now fights for his life in a hospital.

His attacker, the Rebbe's butler, Shaul Spitzer, is recovering from less serious injuries and is free on $300,000 bond. Many believe he will flee the country as soon as he is well enough to travel, and that Skvere and its Rebbe will help him.

Congress raves over Israeli prime minister! But Anti- Israel Orthodox Rabbis & the Arab World Condemn him

The United States Congress gave the Prime Minister a standing ovation and loved every single word he said, but our own Jews will make a sick and ridcules statement at a time when the Jewish people need all the praise they can get.. instead of keeping their mouths shut, they continue to shame all of us with their stupid remarks.
Here first read from the Washington Times:
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu received a rapturous reception worthy of a rock star from lawmakers on both sides of the political aisle on Capitol Hill on Tuesday - a stark contrast to last week’s tense White House visit.

His speech to a joint session of
Congress was repeatedly punctuated by sustained applause, laughter and more than two dozen standing ovations. It also received some high praise from bipartisan admirers.

“For someone who has listened to a lot of speeches I have to say you’ve made the all-star team,” Senate Majority Leader
Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat, told Mr. Netanyahu at a press conference afterward.

Once again, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has angered American Orthodox Jews by drawing on Biblical themes to support his Zionist ideology, and by blurring the boundaries between the Jewish people and the Zionist state.

In front of the oval office on Friday, he said to President Obama, “It’s the ancient nation of Israel. And, you know, we've been around for almost 4,000 years. We've experienced struggle and suffering like no other people. We've gone through expulsions and pogroms and massacres and the murder of millions. But I can say that even at the nadir of the valley of death, we never lost hope and we never lost our dream of reestablishing a sovereign state in our ancient homeland, the land of Israel.”

We, as Torah Jews, object strongly to Netanyahu’s identification of his modern Zionist nation with the Jewish people. The true Jewish people has been around for almost 4,000 years and has never lost hope – but that hope was never the hope of reestablishing a sovereign state on our own as the Zionist movement has done. Indeed, religious Jews throughout the ages never even considered such an option, since it is forbidden by the Torah. Our hope was and is only for G-d’s final redemption with the coming of the messiah.

Netanyahu further stated, “A peace based on illusions will crash eventually on the rocks of Middle Eastern reality…the only peace that will endure is one that is based on reality, on unshakeable facts.” Actually, the entire Zionist project is based on illusions and was doomed to failure from day one. Over a hundred years ago, when Herzl convened the first Zionist congress, the greatest rabbis warned that his plans would only bring danger and destruction for the Jewish people.

Netanyahu went so far as to openly deny the Jewish people’s age-old hope when he said regarding the peace process, “We don't have a lot of margin for error…Mr. President, history will not give the Jewish people another chance.” To his heretical mind, the false Zionist redemption is the only redemption the Jewish people will ever have.

In a speech to Congress on Tuesday, he said, “I recognize that in a genuine peace, we will be required to give up parts of the Jewish homeland. In Judea and Samaria, the Jewish people are not foreign occupiers…This is the land of our forefathers, the Land of Israel, to which Abraham brought the idea of one God, where David set out to confront Goliath, and where Isaiah saw a vision of eternal peace. No distortion of history can deny the four thousand year old bond between the Jewish people and the Jewish land.”

ronically, this statement itself is the real distortion of history. Netanyahu has conveniently skipped the millennia of exile that separate Abraham, David and Isaiah from the present day. He denies the fundamental Jewish belief that our exile was a Heavenly decree, which will end with the final redemption of the world, when there will be peace among all of humanity. During exile, Jews may live all over the world, including the Holy Land, but only without Jewish sovereignty.

“Netanyahu does not trust in G-d; he uses G-d for his agenda,” said Rabbi Leopold Klein, a spokesman for True Torah Jews. “He doesn’t believe in the Torah or the Prophets either. He takes all that is holy to us and uses it whenever it’s convenient for him.

“As American Jews, we declare that the State of Israel cannot – and should not – claim to represent worldwide Jewry, nor should it be identified as a Jewish State, because confusion between Judaism and Zionism jeopardizes the safety of Jews living all over the world,” Rabbi Klein concluded.

Yeshiva Boy in New Square attempts to burn down house with family sleeping inside

Reports are still very vague and sketchy, but reports are coming in that a young yesivah boy of New Square attempted to burn down a house in New Square this morning. There were 4 people sleeping in the house. The owner of the house refuses to pray in New Square and prays in Friedwald, a nursing home outside the community. This was done to teach him a lesson. The victim Chaim Aaron Rottenberg had to be hospitilized with 3rd degree burns. There is confidential information that the surveillance video tapes were handed over to the Chassidishe Sheriff Koenig, if that's in fact true, then according to people close to the investigation those tapes "may very well disappear."

Chaim Aaron Rottenberg in burn unit

Here read report from The Journal News:

A Truman Avenue man suffered severe body burns early this morning when he fought off a village resident armed with a incendiary device during a fight over a simmering religious controversy, Ramapo police said.
Ramapo police said they later arrested 18-year-old Shaul Spitzer of Adams Lane on felony charges. He had serious burns to his hands and arms and has been hospitalized, police said.
The victim, 43, whose name is being withheld by the Journal-News, suffered burns to 50 percent of his body and remains hospitalized.
Police charged Spitzer with felony counts of first-degree attempted arson and first-degree assault, police said.
Other charges are possible, including attempted murder or possibly murder if the victim dies at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, police said.
Police said they are aware that the Truman Avenue family had been targeted before with violence and protests by religious zealots because the victim prayed outside the community's main synagogue used by the Skver Hasidic grand rabbi, the worldwide community's dynastic leader.
Police investigators said today that they have no evidence of any connection between today's attack at 4:12 a.m. and past incidents gainst the family and other dissidents in the community. The vacant upper floor of a Bush Lane house caught fire recently where another dissident family lived.
"I know there is a history there and we're aware of problems within the community," Ramapo Police Detective Lt. Mark Emma said today. "We have no evidence there is a connection. We're still investigating."
The Truman Avenue family installed surveillance cameras because of previous incidents at the house.
Just after 4 a.m. today, a young man living in the Truman Avenue house woke up his father after hearing people out on the porch, police said. Four people were in the house.
The family members began watching a security camera monitor when they saw a man later identified as Spitzer throw something onto their rear deck, Emma said.
Emma said the item turned out to be a rag soaked in flammable liquid.
The father and a son went outside, where the father confronted Spitzer, Emma said.
"Somehow — we're not sure yet — the victim's clothes caught on fire," Emma said. "He has severe burns to his face, arms, and chest."
The victim's son rolled his father on the ground to put out the flames, Emma said.
"The suspect fled the scene, but we were able to track him down" at 8:30 a.m., Emma said.
Rockland Paramedics Inc. and police found the victim sitting on the front steps of his house.
The suspect was taken to Nyack Hospital for the burns and later transferred to Cornell Medical Center in New York City, Emma said.
Ramapo police were later assisted by the Rockland Sheriff's Office Bureau of Criminal Investigation fie unit and the Rockland County Computer Crimes Unit.
