New York Grand Jury Ends With No Charges Against Trump
The six-month jury meant to hear evidence against former President Donald Trump was set to expire this week.
The lengthy criminal investigation into Trump’s alleged manipulation of the value of his properties in order to secure tax advantages is apparently coming to a close without charges.
In February, the investigation saw the departure of two senior prosecutors who accused Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg (D) of stalling the inquiry.
Bragg says that even though the grand jury disbanded, other grand juries in New York would be available to take action if needed.
However, legal observers say any potential indictment of Trump is unlikely at this time.
Court Disses the DemonRats as they Lose Congressional Map Appeal in New York
The 4-3 decision is a major blow to Democrats who hoped to steal three additional seats.
The Court of Appeals heard arguments on Tuesday, where Republican voters claimed Democrats violated the state’s Constitutionally-mandated process for redistricting in order to gerrymander the maps to their benefit.
On Wednesday, Democrats attempted to defend their map as a lawful solution that was designed to protect minority voting rights.
In a majority opinion signed by the Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals, the court wrote that Democrats had done “exactly what they would have done had the 2014 constitutional reforms never been passed.”
In 2014, New York voters wrote anti-gerrymandering reforms into the state’s constitution.
The court’s ruling means an outside expert known as a “special master” will be hired to redraw the maps. Its final form will likely help Republicans take a small lead in national redistricting.
Mossad Arrests Iranian Terrorist on Iranian Soil
The Mossad recently thwarted an Iranian plot to assassinate an Israeli diplomat and a US general, and in a rare event, arrested the suspect on Iranian soil.
Mossad agents interrogated the suspect, Mansour Rasouli, who admitted he had been ordered to lead a plot to assassinate an Israeli diplomat in Istanbul, a US general stationed in Germany, and a journalist in France.
The suspect was recruited by the Quds Force, a branch of the IRGC responsible for overseas attacks. The hits were to be carried out by the European-stationed Quds Force Unit 840 via its connection to European drug cartels.
The suspect said he had received an advance of $150,000 to prepare for the attack and was promised another further $1 million if he successfully assassinated the targets.
The details of the affair were published over the weekend by the London-based Iranian opposition newspaper Iran International.
Israel did not comment on the report.

Reb Chaim Kanievsky's sons embroiled in bitter inheritance dispute After Lou Scheiner Offers $7 Million for Original Writings
כסף יענה את הכול
New York real estate magnate Rubin Schron is mediating over the late rabbi's estate worth an estimated tens of millions of dollars.
Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky, the de-facto head in Israel of the Lithuanian branch of ultra-Orthodox Judaism, who died last month, was considered by many as the greatest rabbinical scholar of his generation. His funeral was one of the largest ever seen in Israel and it now seems that many are prepared to pay huge amounts for the writings associated with his spiritual heritage, and this has sparked a dispute among his heirs.
US ultra-Orthodox businessman Eliezer (Louis) Scheiner, who owns (together with his partner Teddy Lichtenstein) a chain of dozens of nursing homes in Texas, Pennsylvania and Florida and lives in Monsey, New York has offered $7 million for the original writings of the commentaries published by Rabbi Kanievsky's on the Jerusalem Talmud, according to sources close to the matter.
In the past Scheiner was cited by the US media as an important donor to former US President Donald Trump. In Israel he is well known for his major donations to the annual event in Uman of the Breslov haredi community.
After the death of Rabbi Kanievsky, Scheiner approached his son Shaul and offered to buy the commentaries from the family. After negotiations with Shaul Kanievsky, they agreed a fee of $7 million. However, Shaul Kanievsky's brothers had no knowledge of the matter and only found out by accident.
This discovery has resulted in an acrimonious inheritance dispute conducted discreetly over the past few weeks. On the one side is Shaul Kanievsky who lives in the family home of his late father and is considered the leading figure among the late Rabbi Kanievsky's followers, while pitted against him are his two older brothers Avraham Yeshayahu, who was also close to their father and wrote several books with him and Shlomo, the head of the Kiryat Melekh Yeshiva who was less involved with his father's followers.
Shaul Kanievsky has told his brothers that their father intended for him to be his sole heir. His two older brothers were astonished by this news and insist that their father always said that his inheritance would be bequeathed according to Torah law. Rabbi Kanievsky had eight children - three sons and five daughters and according to Torah law his inheritance should be divided between the three sons.
The lack of faith between the parties has led to an order halting any sale of the late rabbi's commentaries and the sides have turned to New York based real estate tycoon and philanthropist Rubin Schron, a close confidante of Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky, to mediate.
Schron together with Charles Bronfman were the former controlling shareholders in Israel Discount Bank (TASE: DSCT).
The dispute has not only put the brothers at loggerheads but also two of the cousins who managed their grandfather's home for many years. On the one side is Aryeh Kanievsky, the son of Avraham Yeshayahu, and on the other side Yanki Kanievsky, the son of Shaul, who featured prominently in the Israeli media over the past two years when he was filmed encouraging his grandfather to oppose Covid restrictions in Yeshivot.
Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky lived modestly but his extensive writings and their value combined with the family home in Bnei Brak mean that his estate is worth an estimated tens of millions of dollars.
The Kanievsky family declined to comment on the dispute.

Dolev Vyacheslav (Vladi), a 23-year-old resident of Beit Shemesh, has been named as the security guard murdered on Friday night at the entrance to the city of Ariel.
Vyacheslav was murdered by two terrorists, who opened fire at his post, which he was sharing with his girlfriend.
Acting quickly at the start of the attack, Vyacheslav used his body to shield his girlfriend from the bullets, absorbing them instead of her.
He is survived by his parents and seven siblings.
Beit Shemesh Mayor Dr. Aliza Bloch is currently at the family's home, offering them support together with educational and welfare services from the city.
The terrorists, who were arrested Saturday, have been named as Yahya Mar'ee, 19; and Yousseff A'asi, 20. They arrived at the entrance to Ariel, armed with Carl Gustav submachine guns in a Suzuki with yellow (Israeli) license plates. Upon their arrival at the security post, the terrorists began firing at Vyacheslav and his girlfriend before exiting the vehicle and shooting Vyacheslav point-blank.
Several hours after the terror attack, the terrorists' vehicle was found, burned and abandoned in an open field between the Arab towns of Kafr Thulth and Saniriya.
Earlier Report
A security guard in his 20s was murdered in a shooting attack at the entrance to the city of Ariel in Samaria on Friday evening.
The security guard has been named as Dolev Vyacheslav (Vladi), a resident of Beit Shemesh and a former student at Ariel University.
An initial investigation of the attack determined that a vehicle with an Israeli license plate arrived at the post of the security guard of Ariel. Two terrorists then got out of the vehicle, opened fire at the security guard from close range and killed him, before making a U-turn and fleeing the scene.
Magen David Adom paramedics who were called to the scene provided him with medical treatment before pronouncing him dead.
Magen David Adom paramedic Tomer Fein said, "When we arrived at the scene we saw a man in his 20s, unconscious with gunshot wounds, he was not breathing and did not have a pulse. We performed medical operations on him, but he was without signs of life and we had to pronounce him dead."
A woman was standing next to the security guard who was killed at the security post where the attack took place. She was not injured, but was treated by Magen David Adom paramedics for trauma.
