Most Riot & Looting Cases From Last Summer in NYC Dropped By DA’s

It was a year ago that mobs of looters roamed the streets of New York City following the killing of George Floyd by a Minneapolis police officer. From the month of May to June mobs would walk the streets of New York City smashing and looting storefronts, with videos of the incident going viral.

Despite the lawlessness, the NYPD – who were vastly outnumbered during these unexpected events – made hundreds of arrests, with most taking place in Manhattan and the Bronx. Data reviewed by NBC New York showed that at one point, up to 118 arrests were made in the Bronx during the worst of the looting in early June.

Despite the heroic actions by the police, many, if not all of these criminals are still roaming the streets – despite their arrests at the time. This is due to the fact that since then, the NYPD says the Bronx DA and the courts have dismissed most of those cases – 73 in all. Eighteen cases remain open and there have been 19 convictions for mostly lesser counts like trespassing, counts which carry no jail time.

In Manhattan, the NYPD data shows there were 485 arrests. Of those cases, 222 were later dropped and 73 seeing convictions for lesser counts like trespassing, which carries no jail time. Another 40 cases involved juveniles and were sent to family court; 128 cases remain open.

This lack of accountability by the DA’s office has led to outrage by victims and store owners of the looting who see the situation as criminals who are getting off scot free.

A Tale of Two Cities in the One Town of Kiryas Yoel

The Satmar Rebbe, R' Aaron Teitelbaum, believes that he is the Rav of Kiryas Yoel, and so his Bais Din came out with a Fatwa that only Rabbanim affiliated with his faction can preside over Gitten & Kiddushin in Kiryas Yoel...and so if a Zalonie chooses to make a Simcha in Kiryas Yoel, the hall that he chooses will refuse to cater the event.

Not so fast...

The Zalonim don't recognise R' Aron as their rebbe, and don't recognise him as the Rav of Kiryas Yoel..
and so they counterattacked with a poster, that they, the Zalonim, have have many Wedding, Bar-Mitzvah halls that will accommodate Zalonim rabbis in Kiryas Yoel..no problem ...

Self Hating Jew Sarah Silverman Praises Ilhan Omar’s ‘Squad,’ Gets Invited to Join

After Jewish comedian and podcast host Sarah Silverman commended Ilhan Omar’s (D-MN) “squad” of lawmakers on Wednesday, she was invited to join the group as a “progressive Jewess.”

On Tuesday night, Omar tweeted a photo of the progressive group of House representatives, which includes Democratic Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY), Rashida Tlaib (MI), Ayanna Pressley (MA) and Cori Bush (MO). Fellow squad member, Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY), was not pictured.

Silverman commented on the image the following day, saying: “Love this group!! You give me hope! (Wish there was a progressive jewess in there … someday).”

When Omar responded, “You could run and join us,” along with a smiley face, Silverman replied: “my skeletons have skeletons.”

On June 10, the Minnesota Representative “clarified” her recent comments on Twitter comparing Israel and the US to Hamas and the Taliban, after facing criticism from a group of Jewish House Democrats and others in Congress.

Silverman praised Omar’s 2019 op-ed in The Washington Post written in response to outrage over the latter’s comments regarding US support for Israel, which were branded as antisemitic and led to a House resolution denouncing bigotry.

Satmar Ahronie "Der Blatt" Accused of Racism

A Yiddish-language newspaper, where New York City agencies frequently place ads, published a column with racist overtones, sources told The Post.

Der Blatt, a widely read paper for one faction of the Satmar Hasidic sect, ran a column by Rabbi Shmuel Teller in its June 4 edition discussing the political crisis in Israel.

The rabbi likened the situation to two Black men — one described as a “dirty person” — throwing a Jewish man out of his own home, sources said.

The rabbi described one of the men with a derogatory term meaning “blackest of the black” that would be akin to using the N-word in English, sources said.

One member of the Hasidic community said he was appalled by the rabbi’s column.

“As a Hasidic father who tries to imbue my children with respect to everyone, writings like these destroy all my efforts,” he said.

A message left for Der Blatt was not returned.

A woman who answered the phone at Teller’s house said she was his wife and that her husband did not speak English well enough to comment.

Der Blatt in November wrote about how it kept quiet about the planned wedding of a grandson of Satmar Grand Rabbi Aaron Teitelbaum, which saw thousands of people packed into a Williamsburg synagogue despite COVID-19 restrictions.

A spokeswoman for Mayor de Blasio could not immediately say how much the city spent to advertise in Der Blatt, but said it would stop doing so.

“We have zero tolerance for racism. Period. This column betrays the values of our city and as a result we will no longer advertise in the newspaper,” Avery Cohen said.

'Shabbos goy' reported to be Christian missionary

The ultra-Orthodox community in Jerusalem was shocked to find out this week that Jen Komo, an American woman who has lived in Israel for several years working in the community by providing alternative medicine services and helping transport pregnant women to the hospital on Shabbat, might be a Christian missionary.

A week ago, a Haredi man turned to the Yad L'Achim organization, which works to spread Jewish values and battles attempts to convert Jews, and explained that for weeks his wife seemed troubled and "not herself" and finally admitted she was considering converting to Christianity. When he pressed to find out more details, his wife shared that Komo pressured her to do so.

"Jen convinced me that I was living a lie and said that Jesus gave up his life for all of mankind and that all my sins would be forgiven as soon as I accept him as my messiah," the Haredi woman said. "She took advantage of my emotional state and past traumas to push, pressure and convince me to convert."

According to the woman, Komo also asked her to keep their meetings secret. "I was worried my husband would begin to suspect, and she suggested I tell him that I meet with her to study Psalms and the Bible."

Yad L'Achim said Komo might indeed be a missionary. After the organization began looking into the matter, it found a video of her from 2014 giving a speech at a missionary church in the United States about her work in Israel.

"That's what I do with these people. I love on them, I teach them, be an example. They don't know that I'm shining Jesus' love all over them and through them. But it works. It works, because he works," Komo said in her speech.

In a conversation with Israel Hayom, she defined all claims: "I am not a Christian missionary. I have maybe spoken with one or two women about Christianity, but they are adults, over the age of 18. The video you mentioned was recorded a long time ago. I am not interested in getting anyone to convert. In any case, I mostly speak about the prophets in the way they are described in the Bible."

Frisch Schoo Yearbook Has "In Memorian" Page for the Black Thugs Shot by Cops!

Seniors at the Frisch School in New Jersey were treated to a surprise in their yearbook this year. An “In Memoriam” page listed more than a dozen names of men and women described as being “just a few of the many, many black Americans who were wrongfully killed by police.” The page was written in the form of an open letter, signed by the student editors of the yearbook. It was addressed to people such as George Floyd, Michael Brown and Eric Garner, and ended with a call to the class of 2021: “Let’s change the world for the better.”

The reaction was immediate. “Right away, kids started ripping the page out,” one senior said. “Others were blacking it all out with sharpies.” According to the student, no one knew this page would be a part of the yearbook, but seeing the names of the signatories, no one was surprised either. “Everyone knows their politics. They are trying to speak for us,” he said with resentment, “but no one I know liked it.” He and his friends say they disagree with the letter and its claims. But perhaps more objectionable is the license given to a handful of students to use the class yearbook to voice their personal political views. “This was about them, not us,” he said.
