Yad L'Achim: Dramatic rise in women seeking rescue from Arab villages

In the wake of the anarchy and pogroms in Israel's mixed cities that erupted during IDF Operation Guardian of the Walls, the anti-assimilation Yad L'Achim organization reports a dramatic rise in the number of Jewish girls living with Arab husbands in Arab villages or neighborhoods asking to be rescued and seeking to open a new page in their lives.

Liel (not her real name) told the hotline operator at Yad L’Achim: "When I saw him lose control and curse the yahud [Jew], I reached the conclusion that even Israeli Arabs can't be trusted. I am calling you in the realization that I made the biggest mistake of my life."

Shachar (also a pseudonym) decided on the spot to end her relationship, which was moving quickly to deeper levels of commitment. "He promised that he would convert, but since the outbreak of riots I suddenly saw in him a side that I hadn't known. I heard him speak only against the Jewish people and I understood that he had no intention to converting. I am so happy and thank Hashem that I caught myself in time, while I still have a chance to back out."

Bruria, one of the social workers at Yad L'Achim relates: “As a rule, there are three main responses among the women in our care to what’s been happening: denial, differentiation (my Arab husband is different from the others, it won't happen to me) and dawning realization. This is a very complicated period for women who live in Muslim society with their children, especially since the military operation wasn’t just between Gaza and Israel, but had fallout in mixed cities inside Israel that is still being felt."

Yad L'Achim notes that while the women face difficult existential problems, the ones who are really suffering and likely to be confused about their identity are the children of mixed couples.

Avivit, for instance, reported a decline in her son. "He speaks Arabic and was suddenly exposed to the violent dialogue that bubbled forth on the Arab street. He has no filter. He is exposed to the incitement of his father against me and sees me as the enemy. I’m afraid of losing him.”

Yad L'Achim agreed only to say that that the call from Avivit was dealt with in the best way possible and that she and her children are well. However, it warrants being publicized so that others will read her conclusion: "I plead with Jewish women not to get swept up. It will end badly."

Yad L'Achim emphasizes again that no call from a Jewish girl in distress who is seeking to return to her people will go unanswered. This message is even more important these days, when women feel that their lives are on the line.

Lapid After Being Heckeled by the Right "'You reminded us why it is time to replace you.'

Opposition Leader and Foreign Minister-designate Yair Lapid excoriated right-wing lawmakers slated to head to the Opposition Sunday, after members of the pro-Netanyahu bloc jeered Lapid and Prime Minister-designate Naftali Bennett.

In place of his planned address, Lapid said asked for forgiveness from his elderly mother, who had travelled to the capital to be present during the planned swearing in of the government after the Knesset votes in the national unity government.

Lapid expressed outrage at the jeering by right-wing and haredi lawmakers, saying their behavior exemplified “why it’s time to replace you.”

“Mr. Speaker, Knesset Members, I’m skipping the speech I planned to deliver today because I’m here to say one thing - to ask for forgiveness from my mother.”

“My mother is 86 years old and we don’t ask her to come to Jerusalem lightly but we did it because I assumed that you would be able to get over yourselves and behave with statesmanship at this moment and she would see a smooth transition of government.”

“When she was born there was no State of Israel, Tel Aviv was a small town of 30,000 people and we didn’t have a parliament. I wanted her to be proud of the democratic process in Israel. Instead she, along with every citizen of Israel, is ashamed of you and remembers clearly why it’s time to replace you.”

Bennett thanks Netanyahu, rightist MKs jeer

The Knesset convened for a special session Sunday afternoon to vote on the national unity government proposed by Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid.

The session began at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, with prime minister-designate Naftali Bennett addressing the Knesset plenum before the legislature votes on the planned government, which, if approved, will become the 36th Government of Israel.

Right-wing and haredi lawmakers jeered and attempted to shout down Bennett as he spoke, with several rightist MKs, including Shlomo Karhi and May Golan, being ejected from the plenum for repeatedly interrupting Bennett’s address.

At the beginning of his speech, Bennett thanked Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for his service as premier.

“Thank you, Mr. Prime Minister, for your service over the years and your accomplishments for the State of Israel. As Prime Minister, you worked for many years to strengthen the country and its security.”

Bennett compared his critics on the Right to Second Temple-era zealots, and said he was “proud to sit with people who have very different opinions” from his own.

"It is time for leaders of the nation to say, 'Stop, stop this madness.' Even if you are not in the government, we will look after your voters."

“The government that will be formed represents many Israelis, from Efrat to Tel Aviv.”

“The new government will pursue practical solutions. After two and a half years of paralysis, we will remove obstacles and make progress."

"Here are just a few things the government will promote immediately. We will take responsibility for the education of the children of Israel from birth...we will add daycare centers to the Education Ministry."

"For years we've talked about dropping the age of exemption for haredi youths. Now we'll do it, dropping the age from 24 to 21."

Bennett also vowed to shutter multiple ministries established in recent years, including the Water Ministry.

"Justice Minister-designate Gideon Sa'ar will return balance between the judiciary and the legislature, including splitting the role of the Attorney General."

The prime minister-designate also alluded to efforts to combat illegal Arab construction in Area C of Judea and Samaria, vowing to promote Israel's "national interest" in the area.

"We will guarantee the national interest in Area C."

"We understand the need and distress of the Arab population," Bennett continued, promising improvements for the Arab sector, in particular the Bedouin population of southern Israel, pointing to planned infrastructure works for the Negev.

"I also want to appeal to the haredi public, even though the haredi lawmakers did not choose to join our government - which is their right. Nevertheless, we will work on your behalf, to solve problems which have developed in the haredi sector, we will respect Torah scholars."

"We will improve the housing crisis which has plagued the haredi sector. The construction rate simply has not kept up with the growth rate."

“The government will also deal with the biggest threat, the Iran nuclear project, which is at a critical state.”

"The resumption of the deal with Iran is a mistake, a mistake which will once again give legitimacy to one of the most violent and dangerous regimes in the world."

Turning to the Gaza front, Bennett vowed an 'iron wall' against any new escalations by Hamas.

"If Hamas chooses violence against Israel, it will encounter an iron wall."

Bennett thanked President Joe Biden for his "forthright position" during last month's conflict with the Gaza Strip, and "his years of support" for Israel. He added that the new government will pursue strong relations with both the Republican and Democratic parties in the US.

Schumer The Jewish Senator Looking to Flood Federal Courts With Muslim Judges

The US Senate on Thursday approved President Joe Biden's nomination of Zahid Quraishi, a magistrate judge in New Jersey, to the federal bench, making him the first Muslim federal judge in US history.

The Democrat-controlled Senate voted 81-16 to confirm Quraishi, 46, who is the son of Pakistani immigrants and a former federal and military prosecutor.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York noted on the Senate floor that while Islam is the third-largest religion in the US, no Muslim has ever served on the federal bench.

"We must expand not only demographic diversity but professional diversity, and I know that President Biden agrees with me on this and this will be something that I will set out to do," Schumer said.

Ahmadinejad: Highest-ranking Iranian intelligence official was an Israeli agent

Former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is claiming that the highest-ranking Iranian intelligence official in charge of countering Israeli spies in Iran was himself an agent of Israel.

In a video interview published on Friday and quoted by Iran International, Ahmadinejad attributed the success of Israel's intelligence operations in Iran to the high level of Israel’s influence and infiltration in the Iranian intelligence and security agencies.

He implicitly acknowledged that Israeli spies were involved in two explosions in the Iranian uranium enrichment facility in Natanz, and that Israel had been closely monitoring nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh's moves for a long time before killing him in November 2020.

Ahmadinejad spoke of "a corrupt gang at the high level of the Islamic Republic's intelligence agencies."

"This corrupt gang should disclose its role in the assassination of Iranian nuclear scientists and the explosions at the enrichment site in Natanz. They stole important documents from Torquzabad and the Iranian Space Agency. These are no jokes. Extremely important documents have been stolen and the country's security has been compromised," he claimed.

"They carried out a major operation in Torquzabad (near Tehran). They gave several vanloads of documents to Israel. It was not just one piece of paper. There were several vans. How did they manage to get several vans out of the country with all the checkpoints in this country?" he continued.

Ahmadinejad added that the Iranian intelligence agencies "concealed the news from the people, and we found out about it only when the documents reached the enemies and they revealed the matter." Ahmadinejad added that "The documents at the Iranian Space Agency were in a safe that belonged to the agency's chief. The agents pierced the roof, went in through the hole, opened the safe and took the documents."

He also attributed the killing of Fakhrizadeh to the activities of the same gang of intelligence operatives. "The Intelligence Minister, Mahmoud Alavi, even said the Ministry knew about the time and place of the operation beforehand, but it was never known who neglected the intelligence information and cooperated [with Israeli agents]."

Ahmadinejad is notorious for his calls for Israel to be wiped off the map and for his Holocaust denial while serving as Iran’s President.

In 2019, Ahmadinejad insisted he is not an anti-Semite and is merely opposed to the “Zionist government”.

Despite the comments, Ahmadinejad did not distance himself from his past anti-Semitic statements or Holocaust denial, which he said was his “proudest moment” as president.

New Era: After 12 years, Netanyahu to be replaced as PM today

Barring any dramatic last-minute changes, Benjamin Netanyahu's historic 12-year run as Prime Minister of Israel will end today.

Parties in the incoming coalition will meet in the Yamina party's room in the Knesset at 2:00p.m., after which they will hold separate meetings at 3:15p.m.

The Knesset plenum will meet at 4:00p.m., to be followed by a toast to be held in the Chagall State Hall with the Speaker of the Knesset-elect.

At 9:00p.m., there will be a celebratory meeting of the incoming government on the occasion of the formation of the 36th Government of Israel, held in the Jerusalem Hall in the Knesset.

Statements will be delivered at the beginning of the meeting by the Prime Minister-designate Naftali Bennett (Yamina) and the Alternate Prime Minister-designate Yair Lapid (Yesh Atid). Netanyahu will also deliver his first speech as chairman of the opposition.

Netanyahu entered office as prime minister on March 31, 2009, and has served continuously since then. He also served as prime minister from 1996-1999, making him the longest-serving prime minister in Israeli history.

Netanyahu is the only Israeli prime minister to sign peace agreements with more than one Arab state, having signed the Abraham Accords with the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Morocco, and Sudan in 2020.

The new government is considered to be historic, as it includes an Arab party, the United Arab List, for the first time. In addition, Naftali Bennett will be Israel's first religious prime minister.

Just Like Yona..Diver is SWALLOWED whole by Whale and survives 30 seconds inside it's mouth - before it spits him out in a jet of water

A lobster diver was swallowed whole by a hungry humpback whale - but lived to tell the tale because the creature didn't like how he tasted, and spat him back out.

Michael Packard, 56, had been a commercial lobster diver out of Provincetown, Massachusetts for 40 years and was going on a routine lobster dive off the coast of Cape Cod last Friday morning when he said he 'felt a huge bump and everything went dark.'

At first, he said he thought he had been attacked by a shark, but when he realized he did not feel any sharp teeth and was not in pain, he began to figure out what had happened.

I realized, oh my God, I'm in a whale's mouth ... and he's trying to swallow me,' Packard told WBZ-TV following the encounter. 'And I thought to myself OK, this is it - I'm finally - I'm gonna die.'

Packard, who is an experienced diver, started to think about his wife and his 12 and 15 year old sons, and began to struggle inside the beast's mouth until, he said, he saw a light and the whale started shaking his head side-to side.

'I just got thrown in the air and landed in the water,' Packard recounted to the CBS affiliate. 'I was free and I just floated there. I couldn't believe... I'm here to tell it.'

He estimates he was in the whale's mouth for about 30 seconds, but continued to breathe because he still had his breathing apparatus in.

Packard was rescued by his crewmate Josiah Mayo who was aboard their boat 'The J n' J.'

Mayo watched in shock as the water beside the boat erupted as the whale surfaced - and Packard flew out of the mammal's mouth.

He plucked Packard out of the water, according to the Cape Cod Times, and used his radio to call authorities on the shore.

The Provincetown Fire Department later confirmed that a call came in about a diver who had suffered serious injuries to his legs 'after interacting with a whale.'

At first Packard said, he thought he had broken his legs in the incident, but doctors later told he he just had soft tissue damage and bruises, and he was released from a local hospital later that day.

In a following Facebook post, Packard thanked the Provincetown rescue squad for its 'caring and help'

Experts say it is extremely rare to be swallowed by a humpback whale, Peter Corkeron, a senior scientist at the New England Aquarium estimating there is a one in 1 trillion chance someone would be eaten by a whale.

When a humpback feeds, he said,  'they do what we call gulp feeding, and they an open their mouths up incredibly widely,' which Jooke Robbins, the director of Humpback Whales Studies at the Center for Coastal Studies, said could limit their forward vision.

'Based on what was described, this would have to be a mistake, and an accident on the part of the humpback,' Robbins concluded.

'He was just unlucky enough to be in the wrong place at the wrong time,' Corkeron conceded.

The humpback likely hoped it would get a mouthful of sand lance fish, which live in the waters off Cape Cod.

Experts say whales are generally placid around humans, and show little aggression towards them.

But they have warned divers to stay at least 100 feet away from the powerful animals at all times, because even an accidental brush with one can be very dangerous - as Packard discovered.
