Israel to Deploy 250 Average-Speed Cameras in 2026 Will record the exact time your vehicle passes both points.
Drivers in Israel who have mastered the art of slowing down just before a speed camera and accelerating immediately after are about to face a new reality. The Israel Police has officially launched a massive tender to overhaul the national speed enforcement network, shifting from "point-in-time" cameras to a sophisticated Average Speed Enforcement (ASE) system.
How It Works
Unlike the current cameras that catch you at a single spot, the new system will monitor 125 specific road segments.
One camera is placed at the entrance of a segment and another at the exit. The system records the exact time your vehicle passes both points. If the time elapsed is shorter than what is legally required to cover that distance at the speed limit, a ticket is automatically generated.
A Multi-Million Shekel Overhaul
The project is estimated to cost hundreds of millions of shekels. The new network will consist of 250 cameras covering long stretches of highway where speeding is most prevalent. These cameras are highly advanced - capable of identifying license plates, vehicle types, and colors in all weather conditions at speeds up to 200 km/h.
Data-Driven Enforcement
The winning franchisee will manage the hardware, but the police remain the sole authority for issuing fines. The system will transmit three encrypted files to the police command center for every violation:
~ A wide shot of the vehicle.
~ A close-up of the license plate.
~ A data file containing the precise timestamp, location, and vehicle details.
The Safety Context
This move comes at a critical time. In 2025, road fatalities in Israel rose by 9%, with 428 lives lost. A 2024 State Comptroller report highlighted a desperate need for better enforcement, noting that Israel has only one police car for every 100 km of road, compared to the OECD average of one every 10 km.
By automating speed enforcement, the traffic police hope to free up officers to focus on more complex and dangerous violations that cameras can't catch, such as reckless overtaking, failure to yield to pedestrians, and road rage.
More Volunteers
In a parallel effort to increase road presence, the Traffic Police have begun deploying 234 new patrol vehicles staffed by volunteers and retired officers. This dual approach, high-tech automated cameras combined with increased physical presence, marks a major strategic shift in Israel’s fight against rising road accidents.
Brutal Iran Crackdown Escalates
Bill Ackman donates $10K to GoFundMe for ICE agent who fatally shot Renee Nicole Good
Billionaire Bill Ackman left a hefty $10,000 donation on a GoFundMe for the ICE agent who fatally shot Renee Nicole Good — and said he had intended to similarly support the slain mother’s respective fund, but apparently missed his chance.
A donation on the page set up for Jonathan Ross — who federal officials said was the Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer who fired fatal “defensive shots” at the anti-ICE protester and mom of three — boasts a top donation from a man named William Ackman.
After hours of online speculation, Ackman, 59, came forward and confessed to leaving the cash.
“I am big believer in our legal principal [sic] that one is innocent until proven guilty. To that end, I supported the @gofundme for Jonathan Ross and intended to similarly support the gofundme for Renee Good’s family (her gofundme was closed by the time I attempted to provide support),” Ackman wrote on X.
The GoFundMe supporting Good’s widowed wife and her children was closed by the organizer after it received more than $1.5 million in donations.
“The whole situation is a tragedy. An officer doing his best to do his job, and a protester who likely did not intend to kill the officer but whose actions in a split second led to her death. Our country is stronger if we work together to resolve the complex issues that are tearing us apart,” Ackman added.
Good was shot and killed after she tried to “weaponize” her vehicle against ICE agents and clipped Ross during an operation in Minneapolis, feds alleged.
Ross, who was previously injured during a vehicle-ramming attack on the job, fired one round through the windshield and the other two through the open driver’s side window, according to the harrowing video capturing Good’s last moments.
The GoFundMe for Ross, which claims to cover “any legal services this officer needs,” has garnered a little over $270,000 in donations and counting after Ackman plugged it in his X post.
The organizer for Ross’ GoFundMe — who doesn’t appear to directly know the agent — slammed Good’s viral charity as “media bs about a domestic terrorist.”
“I feel that the officer that was 1000 percent justified in the shooting deserves to have a go fund me,” they wrote.
In an update posted Sunday, the organizer said they will refund all donations if they don’t hear back from Ross’ family by March 9.
Ackman, a longtime conservative and the founder of Pershing Square Capital Management, boasts a staggering $9.3 billion net worth — making $10,000 approximately 0.0001075% of his total value.

Suspect Arrested After Arson Fire at Mississippi’s Largest Synagogue
A suspect was arrested Saturday night after a predawn fire heavily damaged Beth Israel Congregation in Jackson, Mississippi. The Jackson Fire Department ruled the blaze arson after investigating the fire, which was reported shortly after 3 a.m. No one was injured.
The fire destroyed the synagogue’s library and administrative offices, burned sacred religious items, and damaged multiple Torah scrolls. One Torah that survived the Holocaust was preserved because it was kept in a glass case. The fire broke out during Shabbat, and the congregation has suspended services indefinitely.
Federal authorities, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, are assisting in the investigation. Officials have not yet released the suspect’s name or said whether the fire will be charged as a hate crime.
The attack has shaken the Jewish community in Jackson. Beth Israel Congregation is the city’s only synagogue and was previously targeted in a 1967 Ku Klux Klan bombing. Local leaders and neighboring faith communities have expressed support as congregants assess the damage and begin recovery efforts.
The Curious Overnight Scripted Flip The Left’s Sudden Turn on Hamas
The shift did not happen gradually.
It happened overnight and it happened on script.
What had long been silence hedging or carefully managed ambiguity suddenly gave way to near identical language issued almost simultaneously by Democratic officials across New York.
Within hours the message was uniform and unmistakable. Hamas is a terrorist organization. Support for Hamas is antisemitic. The rhetoric is unacceptable. The speed and coordination suggested preparation not reflection.
The sudden message discipline was striking, reading less like organic outrage and more like coordinated talking points

Lakewood Asifa Addresses Growing Concerns Over AI With Roshei Yeshiva Have no clue what it is
First some comments
A second asifa addressing the growing impact of artificial intelligence was held Thursday night in Lakewood, drawing senior rabbinic leadership and continuing a discussion that began earlier this week.
The gathering focused on concerns surrounding AI-driven calling, texting, and content generation, and followed an initial asifah that drew dozens of leading rabbanim and roshei yeshiva, where the gedolim called for a yom taanis u’tefillah over the threats posed by AI. A date has not been set for when that will take place.
Thursday night’s meeting featured remarks from Rav Elyah Ber Wachtfogel, Rav Malkiel Kotler and Rav Yisroel Newman, who addressed both the technological and hashkafic implications of artificial intelligence.
During his remarks, Rav Yisroel Newman warned that artificial intelligence poses dangers he described as more severe than those associated with the general internet. Rav Malkiel addressed the use of AI in Torah learning, stating that Torah learned through AI-generated means would not warrant a bracha, characterizing such a bracha as a berachah levatalah.
The asifah was attended by a wide range of senior roshei yeshiva and rabbinic leaders, including Rav Mendel Slomowitz, Rav Michel Handelsman, Rav Aryeh Sherwinter, Rav Menachem Mintz, Rav Velvel Mintz, and Rav Dovid Mermelstein.

Israel’s Arkia Forges Deal With JetBlue on Flight Connections in US
Israel’s Arkia Airlines said on Thursday it signed a deal with low-cost US carrier JetBlue Airways that would allow its customers to connect on JetBlue flights in the United States and to Latin America and the Caribbean.
Privately held Arkia mainly flies domestically and to Europe, but it launched flights from Tel Aviv to New York a year ago in competition with its larger rival and flag carrier El Al Israel Airlines.
Under the so-called interline agreement, Arkia‘s flight schedule of up to seven weekly non-stop flights to JFK Airport will be linked with JetBlue‘s destination network.
“This agreement adds a significant layer to strengthening Arkia‘s long-haul operations and expanding the range of services for customers travelling to North America,” said Arkia CEO Oz Berlowitz.
Dave Jehn, a vice president at JetBlue, the sixth-largest airline in the United States, said the new partnership with Arkia “allows us to expand our global reach and provides customers with a wider range of destinations and seamless connections between flights.”
El Al also has an interline agreement with JetBlue but a codeshare deal between the airlines ended in October.

All I see in this board committee are Rabbonim who wouldn’t know AI from a hole in the wall.
I understand the need to control AI.
Of course their input is crucial but you need tech savy ehrliche people majorly involved, who actually know what they’re talking about!
I am trying to understand how the honored Roshei Yeshiva are Poskining the Sugya of AI without any first hand knowledge or use. Like any other technology AI is a Golem. It can be used by Hachamim for gathering and sifting through useful and correct information or it can be used by fools to lead them to incorrect information and mistaken conclusions. I have been using it daily for 3 months in my writing as a fact checker, a grammar checker, a source finder, a history savant, and it has helped me correct dozens of mistakes and improve my writing. Should we stop using cars and telephones because they can also be used for destructive purposes? One of the biggest Gaonim of the last Dor told me there is no such thing as a Maase Satan .. only people who misuse the Bria can Kavyachol turn Hashem’s world which is Kulo Tov into a Maase Satan. Let the Gedolim write guidelines for the proper way to use AI instead of trying to stop this ocean change in civilization
