Note: Read from Emailim Batorah below on the protests!
Secular protesters have blocked Rabbi Kahaneman Street in Bnei Brak in response to the Haredi demonstrations and road disruptions.
The counter-protest adds another layer of tension as the draft crisis spills into the streets.
Police remain on alert as both sides face off.
Clashes have broken out at the entrance to Bnei Brak between Haredi protesters and demonstrators protesting draft evasion.
The confrontation comes as tensions over the military draft continue to escalate on the streets.
Police are at the scene as the situation develops.
Dozens of people are now walking on foot with children and suitcases because of the protests and road blockages.
The disruptions are now directly affecting daily life across the city.

The chilonim started the fight. Israel won't be successful in wars if they continue to fight Torah. You know this and every PC Dati Rabbi knows that deep down.
3:38
Chilonim started the fight?
Let's go along with that assertion, so are you saying that a "Ben-Teirah" is allowed to pick up his hands and beat the daylights of another Jew?
רשע למה תכה רעך
Why is he on the street to begin with? Why isn't he in Bais Medrish?
the Chareidoim don't have work to go to. The Chilonim on the other hand do. So Kuk V'Chomer, they should beat the crap out of the Chareidim, using their oiwn logic and laws.
The Chareidim don't even know how to fight...too long spent studying whilst the Chilonim learn how to defend themselves and defeat others. And you, little shmock @3:38, prove the point that too much time avoiding work numbs the inbred excuse of a brain that you have. Your deranged kind would rather fight other Jews then fight to defend their own country. Pathetic. You make me embarrassed to come from a Chassisishe family
Why don't you also blame Israel for starting the October 7 war while you're at it?
Let's say you're right. You are because if Ben Gurion hadn't shown mercy to the Chazon Ish and created draft exemptions, we wouldn't be in this mess now.
Let's look at the hypocrisy.
The easy one: We can block highways and terrorize you in your nieghbourhoods. How dare you do the same thing to us on our streets?
The religious one: given the choice between a factional Torah society and a united non-Torah society, the Navi says God prefers the latter. Leave Ephraim alone for he's united. David HaMelech suffered casualties in war because of infighting. Achav HaMelech didn't because his people were united and treated each other respectfully.
The traditional one: Chareidim are always crying about "the status quo!" Don't change davening arrangements at the Wall. Status quo! Don't change our benefits and handouts. Status quo.
Okay, Ben Gurion approved less than 1000 draft exemptions when he met with the Chazon Ish. I fully support "the status quo!" and let's return to that immediately!
