First this stupid self-hating Jew flies to Israel and takes a Tour Bus to try to get Jewish Soldiers to fight with his group of haters. He confuses the city of Nehalim in Judea & Samaria with an Arab Village near Ramalla with a similar name, "Nahalin" and the takes a selfie in the bus stating that "he was detained!"
He is an unmitigated liar, as he needed to first coordinate with the proper authorities as one does in any other country, and because he didn't, for his own protection he and the other woman rabbis were asked politely to turn around until proper coordination was arranged!
In a video right below this he say that he was "released"
This is so funny and is totally absurd
Here is what actually happened.
First, there is no place called “Nehalim” in the West Bank. Nehalim is a Jewish moshav in central Israel. The village Lander was actually in is Nahalin, just outside Bethlehem. He could not even get the name of the place right. That is how bad he is at this.
He was there with about 80 to 90 activists from Rabbis for Human Rights and a group named T'ruah, political advocacy organizations that are hostile toward Israel and move in the same activist networks as Jewish Voice for Peace and the BDS movement. And this was not just Lander being a farmer quietly picking his olives as he claimed. He was there on an organized international delegation, with buses, activists, and cameras, with a carefully designed plan to harass Israel. He had said in advance that one of the goals of the trip was to "shed a light” on what is happening in that area. So he was seemingly going there to seek out confrontation.
What happens is these activists use complex situations to promote a carefully packaged propaganda.
Here's what's really going on.
Almost all of Nahalin's land is in Area C, under full Israeli control. Harvesting on that Area C farmland is done by coordination with Israel. The IDF says farmers in that area have to submit a request in advance so the harvest can be coordinated for security and public order, and in this case no request was submitted. The area was also declared a closed military zone that morning. So Brad Lander did not have permission to be there, let alone harvest there.
And this is where the truth gets more complicated than Brad Lander wants it to be and where his whole performance trick falls apart.
Most olive groves in the West Bank need no coordination at all, and Palestinians harvest them freely. The area Lander picked is specifically under Israeli control and one with an extremely complicated arrangement. You really have to seek out these complicated cases. And that is the activists’ system. Complicated cases that almost nobody in the American public would take the time to understand. Post a simple video obscuring facts and make Israel look bad.
That complexity and the lies built around it are exactly what this movement runs on.
The strategy is to exploit the fact that nobody understands how a complicated arrangement works between Israel and the Palestinian government. Show up uncoordinated in a friction zone in Area C. Wait for the army to show up and enforce the rule of law that they agreed to with the Palestinian leadership. Turn on your cameras, film the enforcement, and present your propaganda: “Look, Jews with guns stopped us innocent people from picking olives!”
I assume Brad Lander is not an idiot and understands this. He is a former New York City Comptroller and a policy man. So he likely knows what he’s doing and is counting on his DSA comrades to not appreciate these facts or the truth.
By the way, does Brad Lander’s stunt sound familiar?
It should. His comrade Ro Khanna did the same exact thing this past July. Ambassador Leiter called Khanna’s stunt a cheap, anticipated provocation. Khanna later admitted he skipped coordination on purpose.
And there is a bigger question underneath their stunts.
What exactly does Brad Lander think he is doing in someone else's country? He is not even a congressman. He flew to a foreign country, joined an uncoordinated provocation inside a closed military zone, broke that country's rules, and was then released with a warning while claiming to be the victim.
Brad Lander, channeling Greta Thunberg, was likely looking for better footage, but ran into a problem. He couldn’t find a real confrontation with Israel. So what did he do? He gave us the next best thing: a photo from inside a luxury bus, Knicks cap on, while the "detainees" behind him sit in padded seats scrolling their iPhones.
Israel really needs to think about a way forward. Should they allow anti-Israel activists like Ro Khanna and Brad Lander back in the country to harass Israel and make it look bad on the global stage?
