Clashes in RBS Bet: Violent Protest Over Draft Arrests Shuts Down Major Roads, Trash Fires Lit, Ambulance Blocked
A major protest is currently underway in Ramat Beit Shemesh Bet following today’s arrest of army draft evaders. Extremist demonstrators have blocked multiple roads, set trash cans on fire, and caused widespread traffic disruptions.
Shderot Nahar HaYarden is blocked at several points, including near Rabbi Yehuda HaNasi, Lev HaRama, and Pinchas Ben Yair. Police have sealed off entry and exit to RBS Bet in both directions, resulting in severe congestion throughout the area.
In a particularly troubling consequence of the chaos, an intensive care ambulance en route to a medical emergency is now stuck on Rav Herzog due to the roadblocks.
Police are attempting to regain control amid shouts of “Nazis” from protesters.
Roads currently affected include Herzog, Ma’apilei Egoz, and all access to Nahar HaYarden. Heavy traffic is reported throughout the area.
