wikipedisa Barnea was born in Ashkelon and grew up and was educated in Rishon LeZion. His father, Yosef Bruner (Barnea), fled with his parents — Rabbi Yehuda (who later became an honorary citizen of Bnei Brak) and Bina (a relative of the Belz Rebbe and the sister of the Rebbe of Dzhikov).
