Candace Owens: Macron hired Israeli assassin to kill me

By World Israel News Staff

Right-wing podcaster and conspiracy theorist Candace Owens has accused French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron, of putting together a hit team to assassinate the 36-year-old American influencer.

In a post to her X account over the weekend, Owens claimed she had received a warning from a “high-ranking employee” of the French government that the French first couple had arranged for her assassination.

“URGENT Two days ago I was contacted by a high-ranking employee of the French Government,” Owens wrote.

“After determining this person’s position and proximity to the French couple, I have deemed the information they gave me to be credible enough to share publicly in the event that something happens.”

“In short, this person claims that the Macrons have executed upon and paid for my assassination. Yes, you read that correctly.”

Owens claimed that an elite French anti-terrorism police unit has been ordered to carry out the killing, adding that at least one Israeli has been assigned to the mission.

“More specifically, that the green light was given to a small team in National Gendarmerie Intervention Group. I am told there is one Israeli that is on this assassination [sic] squad, and the plans were formalized.”

The claim of an assassination plot comes months after the Macrons filed a 22-count defamation lawsuit in Delaware state court in July 2025, accusing Owens of publishing “verifiably false and devastating lies” that caused global harassment, damage to their reputation and financial harm.

Owens has repeatedly claimed that Brigitte Macron is a biological man, originally named Jean-Michel Trogneux, pushing a conspiracy theory popularized in France by far-right journalist Xavier Poussard.

In her post Saturday, Owens warned that the French government is also plotting to assassinate Poussard for his role in spreading false claims regarding Brigitte Macron. She also linked the assassination of right-wing influencer Charlie Kirk to France.

“Further to this point, this person claims that Charlie Kirk’s assassin trained with the French legion 13th brigade with multi-state involvement. Journalist Xavier Poussard’s life is also at risk. This is deadly serious.”

“The head of state of France apparently wants us both dead and has authorized professional units to carry this out.”

On Monday, Owens doubled down on her claims, adding that she has notified the White House of the “France and Israeli assassination plot.”

This is not the first time Owens has promoted conspiracy theories regarding Kirk’s assassination.

Owens has questioned whether the gunman, Tyler Robinson, was actually involved in the killing, or whether he acted alone, while hinting that Israel or pro-Israel organizations may have orchestrated the assassination.

The former Daily Wire employee’s comments stirred controversy online, and drew ridicule from some conservatives.

“This is the bats–t crazy town a few million people a day listen to,” National Review writer David Bahnsen responded on X.

“Bats–t crazy was two exits back,” wrote the Hudson Institute’s Mike Doran. “She just took the off-ramp to Camp Doolally. We’re now in weapons-grade whacko country. Someone call the IAEA. We’ve got radioactivity at levels no one’s ever seen.”

The New York Post‘s right-leaning editorial board released an op-ed mocking Owens’ mental health.

“She’s losing her last pinky-finger hold on reality.”
