Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance ripped the Biden-Harris administration Wednesday for cutting an anger-inducing plea deal that will spare three terrorists allegedly responsible for the Sept. 11 attacks from the death penalty.
“We need a president who kills terrorists, not negotiates with them,” Vance told a crowd of supporters at a campaign stop in Glendale, Arizona.
The Ohio senator referenced The Post’s exclusive story that revealed the Department of Defense- approved pre-trial agreements with Khalid Sheikh Mohammed — the accused principal architect of the al Qaeda attacks — and two alleged co-conspirators, Walid Muhammad Salih Mubarak Bin ‘Attash, and Mustafa Ahmed Adam al Hawsawi.
The plea deal lets the men live out their days behind bars.
“Just think about the point that we’ve gotten to: Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have weaponized the Department of Justice to go after their political opponents, but they’re cutting a sweetheart deal with 9/11 terrorists,” he continued, incorrectly identifying the DOJ as the prosecuting agency.
“We need a president who kills terrorists, not negotiates with them.”
The statement earned a hearty round of applause from the crowd, echoing sentiments from across the country, especially from the surviving loved ones of the Twin Towers tragedy who felt death was the only appropriate punishment for the perpetrators of the heinous attacks.
The plea deal wasn’t the only thing Vance blamed Harris for.
The “Hillbilly Elegy” author slammed her position as “border czar” during her three and a half years as vice president, during which time about 1.7 million migrants slipped past Border Patrol and are living in the US, according to data from the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability.
Vance also poked fun at Harris’ accent, which was mocked relentlessly on social media after she seemingly slipped into a southern drawl during a Tuesday rally in Atlanta, Georgia.
“Kamala Harris is a phony who caters to whatever audience is in front of her,” the Republican said, referencing the “fake southern accent.”
“Now, what the hell is that all about? Kamala Harris grew up in Canada. They don’t talk like that in Vancouver or Quebec or wherever she came from. Doesn’t matter. It’s the same new liberal policies, but a different accent [depending on] whoever she’s talking to.”
The quip comes on the heels of Trump’s own claims that Harris “became black” in recent years to appeal to a wider audience.
The ex-president accused Harris — who graduated from the historically black Howard University in 1986 and was a member of a black sorority — of being a “phony” and a “fake.”
“I’ve known her a long time indirectly — not directly very much — and she was always of Indian heritage and she was only promoting Indian heritage. I didn’t know she was black — until a number of years ago when she happened to turn black,” the 45th president told a black journalist conference in Chicago Wednesday.
“And now she wants to be known as black, so I don’t know is she Indian or is she black … but you know what, I respect either one, but she obviously doesn’t.”
