I don't understand. They are so Medayeik in the Beracha, but then they go ahead and read Hilchos Kashrus, which they totally ignore. Hashem is obviously not male or female, but in modern parlance, they are thanking Hasehm for a Torah in which He clearly identifies as a male (K'vyachol)and insists on certain rules. Where is their sensitivity?
Besides, the Shechina didn't give the Torah. The Shechina is a manifestation of Hashem's presence.
All that being said,it's nice that they believe in Hashem, want to daven, and haven't had the chutzpah to change the actual Sefer Torah.
