Your question about the heter to bring soil from Eretz Yisroel is also relevant to the custom of pouring some holy soil into kevorim at burial in chutz. That should be questioned as well, since we had no access to Eretz for 2 millennia and would have been difficult to bring to Europe, so this must be of rather recent minhag. Its about soil. Bring some here ,or bring your dead body there , but a live body to dwell THERE is of little importance apparently.
