Israel's "Deep State" Doesn’t Get Any Deeper Than This
The extent to which Israel is ruled by unelected officials is difficult to convey to outsiders. It sounds too fantastic. So fantastic in fact, that it may be best described as “legal surrealism.”
Our rulers sound like they speak the language of politics and law, but much of what they say makes no sense at all. Consider the case of Benjamin Netanyahu’s testimony in his own trial.
Though Israel is in a state of war on several fronts, the judges presiding in that trial are forcing him to testify three days a week, every week, because, they have argued, it is “in the public interest” to bring the trial to a speedy conclusion. So, determining the exact number of cigars that Mr. Netanyahu received as gifts from friends has come to take precedence over his running of the war.
The judges know, of course, that they will pay no price for their risible definition of “the public interest,” which the public itself would undoubtedly have rejected. Because Israel’s deep state has achieved the dream of bureaucrats since the dawn of bureaucracy: the complete divorce of authority from accountability. The judges know that if their lopsided priorities hinder the war effort, it will be the prime minister, not those who coerced him, who will pay the political price.
At this late stage in the game, one may speculate that this is exactly the point of their whole exercise. Because the Netanyahu trial is not a real criminal procedure. It is a means for doing what elections could not: removing him from power. It is an arena of the struggle for supremacy between democracy on the one hand and the administrative state on the other.
The exacting schedule that the judges have imposed on the prime minister is less a reflection of any tangible public interest, and more part of a trap that our clever jurists have laid down for Netanyahu. You see, they have invented something they call “essential incapacitation.”
Contrary to the explicit meaning of incapacitation clauses in the laws of Western democracies, including those in the United States and Israel, this helpful little judicial gadget extends the idea of medical incapacitation to the realm of scheduling conflicts. According to this new abracadabra, if Netanyahu argues appearing in court three days a week impairs his ability to run the war, then the attorney general can declare him “essentially incapacitated” from preforming his duties, and thus overrule the results of a legal election.
BBC Translating an Arab Hate ...Substitutes her actual words “jihad against the Jews” as “fighting Israeli forces”
The BBC is facing backlash after translating the Arabic phrase “jihad against the Jews” as “fighting Israeli forces” in a recent report.
Critics accuse the network of whitewashing extremist rhetoric and misrepresenting the explicit antisemitic intent behind the statement.
The controversy has reignited concerns over the BBC’s coverage of Israel and its handling of Middle East conflicts.

Washington Post Reporter Quits After Bezos Orders Opinion Page to Defend Free Markets, Personal Liberty
Washington Post opinion editor David Shipley resigned Tuesday after the paper’s owner, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, announced that, going forward, on the opinion pages, “We are going to be writing every day in support and defense of two pillars: personal liberties and free markets.
he added, “but viewpoints opposing those pillars will be left to be published by others.”
“I am of America and for America, and proud to be so. Our country did not get here by being typical,” Bezos continued. “And a big part of America’s success has been freedom in the economic realm and everywhere else.”
He stressed that “Freedom is ethical — it minimizes coercion — and practical — it drives creativity, invention, and prosperity.”
Of Shipley, Bezos said, “I offered David Shipley, whom I greatly admire, the opportunity to lead this new chapter. I suggested to him that if the answer wasn’t ‘hell yes,’ then it had to be ‘no.’”
“After careful consideration, David decided to step away.”
Yeah, that’s a shame.
“I’m confident that free markets and personal liberties are right for America. I also believe these viewpoints are underserved in the current market of ideas and news opinion,” Bezos said in closing. “I’m excited for us together to fill that void.”
One crybaby Post staffer has already threatened to quit: “I still have not felt encroachment on my journalism on the news side of coverage,” wrote someone who works at the Post named Jeff Stein, “but if Bezos tries interfering with the news side I will be quitting immediately and letting you know.”
Yeah, you let us know, Jeff. We’ll all be right here on the edge of our seats waiting for you to let us know.
A crybaby Post subscriber who does legal analysis for cable news is so offended by the idea of defending free markets and personal liberty, he canceled his subscription.
This looks to me like a Trump-style move to rid his failing newspaper of the Woke Parasites eating it alive. Maybe this will get more of them to self-deport quit in a huff like Jennifer Rubin did (nobody misses her). That way there’s no severance or lawsuits.
All of this leaves me with questions… How serious is Bezos? If we will finally have an establishment media outlet recognize that individual liberty and free markets are worth defending, that would be a sea change within an overall media institution that seeks to enslave us with a “benevolent” centralized government only interested in “fairness” and “equity” and the “greater good.”
What is his definition of personal liberty? Does Bezos recognize that forcing an individual to use certain pronouns is fascism, or does he believe “personal liberty” means some pervert must be addressed using the pervert’s preferred pronouns?
Let’s say, though, that Bezos gets it, which would be fantastic. Is this new editorial policy enough of a shift towards sanity to save the Post, or is it too late?
My guess is that it’s too late, which is a shame if Bezos is indeed sincere.

We Cannot Keep up with Trump & Musk ... here are some Quick Bites!
Billionaire tech mogul and administrator of the federal Department of Government Efficiency Elon Musk defended Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, criticizing the ongoing corruption trial of the Israeli leader.
On Monday night, Musk retweeted a link to a YouTube clip of a two-year-old documentary on the ongoing criminal trial against the prime minister, which combines three separate accusations, spanning Cases 1000, 2000, and 4000.
The clip was tweeted last week by Fox News host and conservative pundit Mark Levin, who captioned the link “The legal war against Netanyahu.”
Musk retweeted the link, adding, “The deep state is everywhere.”
The Netanyahu trial — which includes charges of bribery, fraud, and breach of trust over the prime minister’s alleged efforts to speed up already approved regulatory changes in exchange for favorable coverage by the Walla news site, plans to curtail the free distribution of a newspaper in exchange for positive coverage by a rival paper, and help businessmen in exchange for large gifts — was kicked off following the November 21, 2019, indictment of the prime minister.
While the trial began in May 2020, it has been repeatedly delayed due to the COVID pandemic, Israel’s political crisis from 2019 to 2022, and the war in Gaza.
Critics have accused prosecutors of attempting a putsch, arguing that there is no legal precedent for considering desirable coverage bribery, and dismissing claims of positive coverage by either outlet cited in the corruption investigations.
Musk, who met with Netanyahu earlier this month, was defended by Netanyahu from accusations of anti-Semitism in January, after some interpreted his hand gesture at a Trump inauguration event as a Nazi salute.
“Elon Musk is being falsely smeared,” Netanyahu tweeted.
“Elon is a great friend of Israel. He visited Israel after the October 7 massacre in which Hamas terrorists committed the worst atrocity against the Jewish people since the Holocaust.
“He has since repeatedly and forcefully supported Israel’s right to defend itself against genocidal terrorists and regimes who seek to annihilate the one and only Jewish state.”
In other Netanyahu related news, WIN reported on Tuesday that the leader of Germany’s largest political party and the candidate most likely to replace outgoing Chancellor Olaf Scholz came under fire this week after he invited Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to visit the country.
On Sunday, an alliance of the center-right Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and Christian Social Union (CSU) won a combined 208 seats in the 630-member German parliament, defeating the center-left SPD, which plummeted to third place, behind the rightist Alternative for Deutschland (AfD).
The election has positioned CDU/CSU chairman Friedrich Merz as the natural candidate for the chancellorship, though he will face tough coalition talks to secure a majority as long as he adheres to his pledge not to form a government with the AfD.
Hours after his victory, Merz spoke by phone with Netanyahu, who congratulated him on his victory and on becoming chancellor-designate.
During their talk, Merz invited Netanyahu to visit Germany, pledging to ensure that the Israeli premier would not face prosecution under the International Criminal Court arrest warrant issued last year over the war against Hamas.
“Chancellor-designate Merz thanked the Prime Minister for the conversation and said that he would invite him to make an official visit to Germany, in overt defiance of the scandalous International Criminal Court decision to label the Prime Minister a war criminal,” the Prime Minister’s Office said on Sunday.
A day later, Merz confirmed to reporters that he had indeed invited Netanyahu to visit Germany in defiance of the ICC arrest warrant.
“I think it is a completely absurd idea that an Israeli prime minister cannot visit the Federal Republic of Germany,” Merz said.

Megyn Kelly Destroys Rachel Maddow: ‘Sanctimonious Fraud’ Smears MSNBC Over Joy Reid Firing
Megyn Kelly unloaded on Rachel Maddow, calling out the MSNBC host for her self-righteous meltdown over the network’s long-overdue firing of Joy Reid—ironically the most racist figure on the channel. Maddow, ever the opportunistic activist, used her Monday night show to paint MSNBC as a hotbed of bigotry, whining about “diversity” while conveniently ignoring the fact that her own bloated salary might be a factor in the network’s budget cuts.
Kelly didn’t hold back on her SiriusXM show Tuesday, torching Maddow’s over-the-top virtue signaling.
“She oozes sanctimony,” Kelly said bluntly. “She threw her own network under the bus because they finally got rid of the most blatantly racist host on television.”
Maddow, with her signature mix of smugness and faux outrage, ranted about MSNBC cutting both Joy Reid and other nonwhite hosts like Alex Wagner and Katie Phang. “It’s unnerving,” she lamented, pointing out that both of MSNBC’s minority primetime hosts were losing their shows.
CBS Lies About Hunter Biden and Covid Exposed!
Fired CBS News reporter Catherine Herridge posted photos of the confidential files seized by the network — which “included sensitive reporting about COVID-19 origins and Hunter Biden.”
The award-winning investigative journalist — who was dismissed last February as part of wider layoffs by embattled parent company Parent Global — stirred a firestorm in her bid to regain the materials before the network gave back the items weeks later.
“Exactly one year ago, @CBSNews returned my investigative reporting files,” Herridge wrote on X on Wednesday.
“Today, I am releasing photos of the records for the first time so you can see the sheer volume involved.”
One photo showed stacks of folders next to a Home Depot-labeled box.
Herridge wrote that the material encompassed four large moving boxes weighing over 100 pounds in total that were seized by the network.
Herridge referred to CBS News’ actions as a “journalistic rape” and “an attack on investigative journalism.”
“I hope no investigative reporter has to suffer a similar injustice in the future,” she added.
A CBS News spokesperson declined to comment.
Karoline Leavitt tears into 'hysterical' New York Times reporter
Donald Trump's press chief Karoline Leavitt tore into a New York Times reporter for trying to draw parallels between her boss and Vladimir Putin.
'Having served as a Moscow correspondent in the early days of Putin's reign, this reminds me of how the Kremlin took over its own press pool and made sure that only compliant journalists were given access,' New York Times journalist Peter Baker wrote on X Tuesday.
The 27-year-old Leavitt responded to Baker's X post with a clown emoji.
'Give me a break, Peter,' she wrote. 'Moments after you tweeted this, the President invited journalists into the Oval and took questions for nearly an hour.
'Your hysterical reaction to our long overdue and much needed change to an outdated organization is precisely why we made it.'
Then Leavitt made sure to hit the Times reporter with a personal jab.
'Gone are the days where left-wing stenographers posing as journalists, such as yourself, dictate who gets to ask what,' she wrote.
Baker's barb came following Leavitt's announcement that the government will now choose which reporters can access the White House briefing room and travel with the president.
Since the early 1900s the White House Correspondents' Association (WHCA) has decided which publications get presidential face time.
The WHCA is comprised of many mainstream outlets, and it has elections among its members to rule on access for journalists covering the president.
But that all went out the window on Tuesday, and now the Trump administration will decide who gets to most closely cover the commander in chief, Leavitt said.
'A group of DC-based journalists, the White House Correspondents' Association, has long dictated which journalists get to ask questions of the President of the United States,' Leavitt announced. 'Not anymore.'
'Today, I was proud to announce that we are giving the power back to the people. Moving forward, the ‘White House Press Pool,’ will be determined by the White House Press Team,' she continued, adding legacy outlets will still be allowed to participate.
Baker, the NYT's top White House reporter, lashed out at the administration again in another post, saying its clear they are sending a message that those who ask questions that Trump doesn't like will be barred from covering the president.
Typically the pool is comprised of a reporter from each of the three wire services - the Associated Press, Reuters and Bloomberg - a television crew and correspondent, a print reporter, a radio reporter and five still photographers, which also includes the AP.
There are 13 press seats available on Air Force One - and media outlets pay for their flights on board the presidential aircraft.
Nobody took the seats of the AP reporter and photographer who were booted from Trump's Presidents' Day weekend trip to Mar-a-Lago and Miami over the 'Gulf of America' drama.
How Biden’s Arms Embargo Threatened the Lives of Israelis
Finance Minister Betzalel Smotrich on Wednesday revealed how the arms embargo imposed by the Biden administration on Israel harmed Israel’s war efforts and also spoke at length about the hostage release deal.
Speaking at an economic conference in Eilat, Smotrich said: “Despite our immense joy and excitement about the return of every hostage, this deal is appalling—the release of hundreds of murderous terrorists who, according to all statistics, are likely to return to kill Jews, the rehabilitation of Hamas leadership both in the country and abroad, and the IDF’s exit from the Netzarim Corridor.”
He added: “It has to be said that due to the US embargo that did not allow us to receive bomb kits, we had to use mechanical kits from the Yom Kippur War, some of which did not explode – and now Hamas is using them. But the dangerous thing about the deal is the message that anyone who wants to defeat the State of Israel and bring it to its knees only needs to abduct Jews.”
“There have already been many reckless deals in which we released terrorists and afterward paid for it in a river of blood. But in phase two, there is a red line that has not yet been crossed and must not be crossed – political arrangements shaped against the backdrop of a gun to the heads of the hostages.”
“If we, chalilah, do this, the next phase will be a Palestinian state and the expulsion of Jews from Yehudah and Shomron because otherwise, we won’t get the hostages back. There will be a massive, emotional, very painful, and very real campaign – and everything will be true, but the State of Israel cannot agree to this. The only way to correct the dangerous message of the deal – is to ensure that we return to fight and Hamas is completely destroyed.”
“This way the message will be that whoever abducts Jews – is destroyed, even if along the way he had tactical successes because our Jewish hearts could not stand by. This is why we remain in the government,” Smotrich emphasized.
“Trump will never sign a surrender to Hamas; he sees it as a humiliation for himself. It may be that if we surrender, he will say ‘You are fools,’ but he himself will not sign and certainly will not provide guarantees for it. If the U.S. gives guarantees to Qatar and Egypt, the U.S. will not be able to violate them because there is a clear principle of credibility between states. The U.S. knows how to support us in actions we want under the current administration, and there are things it will not do.”
Smotrich explained how he plans to bring the hostages home: “On the day we return to fight, and I say responsibly that we will return to fight – much more quickly, strongly, lethally, and completely differently than in the past – we need to apply sovereignty over 10% of the northern perimeter and establish some settlement blocs there. Then we need to tell Hamas every 48 hours that if the hostages don’t return, we will apply sovereignty over another 5% of Gazan land. I have discussed this with Netanyahu more than once or twice, and he mentioned it on one occasion himself.”
It should be noted that the Biden administration also placed IDF soldiers at risk by freezing a large shipment of 134 D9 bulldozers which Israel ordered and paid for.
The bulldozers are mainly used for flattening buildings in the Gaza Strip, the majority of which were booby-trapped by Hamas terrorists. Sadly, many IDF soldiers lost their lives in explosions in the Gaza Strip.
Iran Panic.... Fearing Imminent attack by Both Israel and the USA
The air crackled with tension over Iran on Tuesday as reports emerged that the Islamic Republic has thrust its air defense systems into high alert, positioning them around its secretive nuclear facilities, in a move that signals mounting fears of an imminent strike.
With the world watching, Tehran’s military machine hummed to life, its missile batteries primed and radar screens aglow, as officials whispered of a looming threat from a united front of Israel and the United States. The stakes? Nothing less than the survival of Iran’s nuclear ambitions—and perhaps the regime itself.
The dramatic escalation unfolded against a backdrop of simmering hostility, with Iran’s leadership racing to shield its most prized and contentious assets: the nuclear sites at Natanz, Fordow, and beyond. Satellite imagery, scrutinized by Western intelligence, revealed a flurry of activity overnight—additional air defense launchers rolling into place, their barrels trained skyward, and soldiers scurrying under floodlights to fortify positions.
“The entire country is on high alert,” a senior Iranian official told state media. “We will not allow our sovereignty to be violated.”
Speculation erupted over what sparked this sudden mobilization. Sources close to Tehran pointed to a chilling confluence of events: Israel’s relentless aerial dominance over weakened Iranian proxies, the fall of Syria’s Bashar al-Assad—a key ally—and President Donald Trump’s hawkish return to the White House, vowing to crush Iran’s nuclear dreams. Just weeks ago, Israeli jets pummeled Iranian missile factories, leaving craters where defenses once stood. Now, whispers of a “significant strike” on Fordow and Natanz—rumored to be in Israel’s crosshairs as early as this spring—have set Tehran ablaze with paranoia.
“They know we’re coming,” an Israeli defense official reportedly said, speaking on condition of anonymity. “Their S-300s couldn’t stop us last time, and they won’t now.”
The air defense systems in question—Russian-made S-300s and homegrown arrays—are Iran’s last line of protection against Israel’s cutting-edge arsenal. Yet experts say they may be no match for a coordinated onslaught, especially if backed by U.S. intelligence and mid-air refueling.
"If Secular Studies Law Passes In Britain, Jews Must Leave Country" R' Avrohom Gurwicz
Rabbi Avraham Gurwicz, head of the Beis Yosef Yeshiva in Gateshead, England, and one of the senior Roshei Yeshiva in Europe, recently sent a letter to the Jewish residents of London in light of the looming education decree in the country. The government is demanding the inclusion of secular studies and other subjects that contradict the Torah in the curriculum of boys’ and girls’ educational institutions of all ages.
The law, which is primarily directed against the Orthodox Jewish community, has already passed its first and second readings in the British Parliament. It stipulates that all educational institutions will be required to include secular studies, some of which directly oppose the sacred Torah. The new law carries criminal sanctions that will be imposed personally on yeshiva students. It may also interfere with the Orthodox educational frameworks that have so far operated under the definition of “home schooling,” posing a significant threat to the existence of the yeshivos in the United Kingdom.
The private bill recently submitted on this matter, which has already passed its first and second readings, is expected to be brought to a third vote in the London Parliament in the coming weeks. If, Heaven forbid, the law is approved, it will be brought before the House of Lords for a final decision.
In light of this, the Rosh Yeshiva writes that if the law passes its third vote, those who fear Heaven will have no choice but to migrate to a place where they can serve Hashem and educate their children in the traditional way passed down through generations.
This is the content of Rabbi Gurwicz’s letter:
This is not going to end well for NY !!Hochul Vows to Defy Trump Administration’s Order to Halt Manhattan Congestion Pricing Toll
Governor Kathy Hochul has vowed to defy the Trump administration’s directive to halt Manhattan’s controversial congestion pricing toll, calling it an overreach by federal authorities.
In a strong statement made Wednesday, Hochul said the state would not comply with the order, issued by the Department of Transportation (DOT), which demands that tolls on Federal-aid highways in the Central Business District Tolling Program (CBDTP) area cease by March 21, 2025.
The Trump administration’s letter, dated February 20, was sent just days after Hochul submitted a document to President Trump highlighting the success of the tolling program. Despite her efforts, the administration remains resolute in its stance against the toll, arguing it places unnecessary financial strain on commuters.
“The Trump administration is once again trying to overrule the will of New Yorkers,” Hochul wrote on social media, referring to the decision. “They’re about to find out what happens when you piss off 6 million New York commuters.”
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) has stated that it will continue collecting the $9 toll until a court orders otherwise. The program has raised nearly $49 million so far, with much of the revenue aimed at addressing the city’s transportation and environmental challenges.
While the dispute continues to escalate, Trump has repeatedly criticized the congestion pricing plan, promising to end the toll if re-elected.
