Israel Ministry of Defense Taking Crucial Steps Towards Self Reliance

 JUST IN:

As the Gaza war rages on, Israel’s Ministry of Defense has taken a crucial step towards bolstering the nation’s self-reliance by placing a multi-year, $750 million order for ammunition with Elbit Systems.

Elbit Systems, a globally recognized supplier of cutting-edge military technology, intensified production on Monday at its factories across Israel, with thousands of workers transitioning to round-the-clock schedules to fulfill the Ministry of Defense’s order requirements, according to Arutz Sheva.

With billions of dollars already invested in homegrown defense capabilities, this latest deal is a clear indication that Israel is prepared to double down on its commitment to rely  less on foreign aid. While the US Senate may have recently passed a $95 billion foreign aid package, including $15 billion in military assistance to Israel, the aid comes with a heavy price.

The Foreign Military Financing (FMF) program, which accounts for the lion’s share of US foreign military aid, requires Israel to spend a staggering 75% of the funds on purchases from US defense contractors. This not only limits Israel’s ability to invest in its own defense industry but also leaves it vulnerable to the whims of the Biden Administration that grows more hostile to the Jewish State with each passing day.
