Who is this coming from Edom, with crimson-stained garments from Bozrah? This one, glorious in His apparel, striding forward in the greatness of His strength?
"It is I, speaking in righteousness, mighty to save."
Why is Your clothing red, and Your garments like one who treads in a winepress?
"I have trodden the winepress alone, and from the nations no one was with Me. I trod them in My anger and trampled them in My wrath; their lifeblood spattered onto My garments, and I stained all My clothing.
For the day of vengeance was in My heart, and the year of My redemption had come.
I looked, but there was no helper; I was appalled that there was no one to support Me. So My own arm brought Me salvation, and My wrath sustained Me."
Both the Radak, and the Mezudas Dovid say that this a prophecy of what will occur at end of days! And this pasuk is one of the most dramatic prophetic visions in Isaiah.
The figure (the RBS"O Himself) comes from Edom/Bozrah with garments reddened as though from a winepress, the imagery symbolizes divine judgment upon the nations and redemption of God's people,
The "day of vengeance" and the "year of redemption" are presented together as part of God's final act of justice and deliverance.
The question is why "like a winepress?"
Could Isaiah be referring to a nation that is considered the country that produces the world's finest wines, particularly in terms of prestige, quality and historical reputation?
Is Isaiah saying that at the end of days the RBS"O will begin the salvation with first annihilating France, and not with an army or with any help from the outside!
The RBS"O is saying that France will be destroyed without an army but from within!
Which is happening now
“France will be destroyed without an army”
ReplyDeleteOr with the army that famously waves a white flag when the 1st shot is fired!
