$kverer Rebbe Endor$e$ Governor Kathy Hochul for Re-Election

The $kvere Kehilla of New Square has officially endorsed New York Governor Kathy Hochul for re-election, throwing its support behind the Democratic incumbent ahead of the November election.

The endorsement follows years of cooperation between the Hochul administration and New Square leadership, including the governor’s assistance with major community development projects and her continued engagement with local elected officials and askonim.

One of the most significant examples of that relationship came this past August, when Governor Hochul visited Kiryas Skvere in Sullivan County for a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the community’s new shtetl and affordable housing development.

As previously reported by Monsey Scoop, community leaders expressed their appreciation to Hochul for helping secure the necessary approvals and moving the development in the Town of Bethel forward. The project is designed to provide much-needed affordable housing for growing Skvere families.

During that visit, Hochul met with New Square Mayor Izzy Spitzer, Assemblyman Aron Wieder, Sullivan County law enforcement officials, and leading Skvere askonim, who thanked her for her administration’s cooperation throughout the development process.

Hochul has also maintained close ties with New Square leadership on issues affecting the broader Orthodox community. In June, the governor attended a major meeting with Orthodox elected officials and community leaders in Wesley Hills, where she discussed security funding, housing, infrastructure, and other community concerns.

During that gathering, Mayor Spitzer publicly thanked Hochul for her longstanding relationship with New Square and her continued responsiveness to the community’s needs.

The endorsement carries political significance given New Square’s history of strong voter turnout and its influence in Rockland County elections. The Skvere Kehilla previously backed Hochul during her successful 2022 gubernatorial campaign.

Hochul is seeking another four-year term in the November 3 election, facing Republican Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman.

  1. Skvere (and Satmar) would have endorsed Adolph for a few extra Shekels. I'm not sure what religion they claim to be, but every year these people are less and less Jewish and move further away from any kind of reality, It's all about the Benjamins.
