Pay Child Support or lose your US Passport


 The Trump administration is reportedly preparing to expand enforcement of a federal law allowing the government to revoke U.S. passports from individuals owing more than $2,500 in unpaid child support. 

According to U.S. officials cited by the AP, the U.S. Department of State will soon begin proactively revoking passports using data shared by the U.S.

Department of Health and Human Services, rather than waiting for people to apply for renewals or consular services. The policy stems from a 1996 federal law but marks a significant escalation in enforcement.
