The story going around years ago, I forget if it was the Belzer or the Gerrer but there was a couple of new flip phones coming out and which brand the Rebbe endorsed, all his Chasidim would immediately have to dispose of their old phones and go out to buy this one. And it then turned out that the Rebbe bought a lot of stock in the company he endorsed just before he endorsed it. These guys have always been money grubbers. You think you just got to hand a kvittel to the Rebbe back in Europe? Only if there was a certain sum of zlotys accompanying it. Want a bracha? Pay up!
