Rav Aharon Feldman spoke Monday night during a public asifah in Beit Shemesh that addressed the issue of giyus.
The asifa, organized by the Ezram U’maginam organization, drew a diverse and mixed crowd and was headlined by Harav Feldman alongside Rav Yehoshua Eichenstein, Rosh Yeshiva of Yad Aharon and a close talmid and confidant of Harav Aharon Leib Shteinman zt”l.
During the event, a man from Beit Shemesh began shouting harsh accusations at Rav Feldman, including calling him a liar. Many in the audience who have children on the front ,supported the individual who made a lot of sense.
As tensions rose and members of the audience began yelling at each other, Rav Feldman intervened and asked everyone to calm down!
This asifa" demonstrated to the Charedie world, that we are not on the same page and those who have sons, siblings and husbands serving in the IDF are no longer taking these Chutz-Leaartz self-righteous leaders seriously and will confront them!
What right does an American Rabbi have to interfere in Israel? Problems in general should be handled by the local rabbinate. It would be inappropriate for an American Rabbi to interfere, just as it would be inappropriate for an Israeli rabbi to interfere in Baltimore.
ReplyDeleteHe made aliyah in 1961 and lived there for 40 years. He has children in Israel, and I believe he goes back for Yomim Tovim and summers.
ReplyDeleteHe lives now in Baltimore and came here to speak Loshon Hara on the Jewish State.
DeleteYes he has children in Israel, but it is meaningless to him!
Meraglim also lived in Chutz Le'areetz!
Was DIN one of the mechutzofim in that rabble shouting at an elderly Rosh yeshiva?
ReplyDeleteMr Nice how stupid are you? There was no Jewish state for the meraglim to talk about if you don’t see the difference between Jewish state and Israel the land than please don’t ever open up a Gemara again

DeleteBefore I open a gemarrah, I open a Tanach, and in that Tanach I learned that most of the Governments in Eretz Yisrael were run by Oivdei Avoda Zara yet never did any Rabbanim or Neveiim State that the "government was illegitimate"
We B"H have a Jewish State and an Army to protect just like every Jewish Government since Moshe Rabbeinu !
The State is the home of the majority of the Jewish people. This Zionist State has more Moisdois HaTorah than any other country in the world! This Zionist State has more Torah learned it it than anytime in the entire Jewish History, we don't need anyone from Baltimore to come and lecture us about what we do or should do!
I don't see anything in the article about how exactly he "bad-mouthed the Jewish state". Not stating an opinion, just wondering.

DeleteThe entire "asifa" was about "gius"!
This was in Ramat Beit Shemesh Alef where we mourned just in the past 2 years the murder of 14 chayilim who were residents of Beit Shemesh, those Chayilim lived in the immediate vicinity of this orgy of Losho Hara!
This travesty took place in the Gra Shul on Luz and the Rabbi of that shul is a smiling extremist by the name of Rabbi Elimelech Kornfeld who happens to be the son-in-law of R Feldman!
Incestuous indeed!
Thanks for the clarification.
DeletePerhaps his Peleg friends should ccome to The US. and speak out against the danger of Yeshivos that send Bachurim to Shmad in the colleges
ReplyDeleteYeshivas don't send people to colleges as far as know. The parents do, and the bachur himself, if he so chooses. There are a lot of good frum college graduates around, earning an honest living for their family, paying schar limud, and giving tzedakah. I've been around and never heard of someone who was shmaded in a college.
ReplyDeleteINTERESTING:Though i personally disagree, vehemently with the Chareidy position on (not)serving in the military DIN takes Rabbi Feldman to task about living overseas and coming to Israel to opine.
ReplyDeleteAs others have pointed out, Rabbi Feldmam lived iin Israel for forty years and his kids, grandkids live there.
On the other hand he apparently is comfortable with the Lubavitcher Rebbe being against giving land for peace though he never lived here.
I believe that the Lubavitcher Rebbe, not only was allowed to opine but as a Jewish leader HAD to state his view. Additionally every Jew has a right to opine on ISRAEL because its our country.
So DIN stop picking and choosing and learn to be objective

DeleteThe Lubavitcher Rebbi's opinion about Israel though he never lived there was accepted because the Rebbe loved every single Jew!
Rav Feldman though he lives 6 months in Har Nof, and even though his children and grandchildren live in EY, in his mind he is in Chutz Le'aartz all the time. There isn't a protest against Israel that he doesn't put his name on.
Just recently he shlepped to Lakewood for an asifa against the State of Israel!
No one would say that Rav Feldman "Loves every Jew"
and Rav Feldman is not a "Jewish Leader" he is a leader of a building in Baltimore!
I am not "choosing and picking" between Jewish Leaders, R' Feldman is not considered a "Jewish Leader" and except for a couple Yeshiva Bochrim, he is basically unknown!
Your assertion that " every Jew has a right to opine on ISRAEL because its our country." does not apply to Rav Feldman because he does not believe that Israel is HIS country! He has said that many times and repeated that again Monday night in Beit Shemesh!
