Netanyahu Shares Weekly Shabbos Ritual: No Phones, Just Family and Torah

In a wide-ranging and unexpected conversation, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sat down with the Nelk Boys for The Full Send Podcast, revealing intimate details about how he and his family observe Shabbos.

The interview was recorded earlier this month while Netanyahu was in Washington, D.C., and was released Monday.

“Every Shabbos, we put our phones away,” Netanyahu shared. “We have a family meal, talk about the Torah — and no politics.”

The Nelk Boys — social media stars based in California — covered topics ranging from global affairs and antisemitism to personal faith, family life, and leadership.

The episode gave viewers a glimpse into the Prime Minister’s more personal side, with his Shabbos tradition standing out as a moment of calm in contrast to the intensity of political life.

  1. I don't believe much of what he says. He's the prime minister. He has to have a working phone on him at all times, even Yom Kippur. And no politics? Of course not. There's no discussion when everyone at the table agrees on the issues.
