DUMB CHAREDI MINISTERS: No Judicial Reform Without Draft Law

How dumb can someone possibly be? They are in this pickle because of the Judiciary! I guess their Torah learning didn't make them any smarter!

The leaders of the United Torah Judaism (UTJ) Charedi parties have suggested they will oppose PM Netanyahu’s judicial reform unless a draft law is passed.

The respective heads of the Knesset’s Ashkenazic-Charedi parties, Degel Hatorah and Agudat Yisrael, both expressed opposition to Justice Minister Yariv Levin’s call to progress on judicial reform, in an apparent attempt to use it as leverage regarding the ongoing Charedi draft dispute, according to Kan Reshet Bet.

On Tuesday, MK Moshe Gafni, who heads the Degel Hatorah party, said that his party “has paid the price” for advancing the judicial reform, warning, “We will block it from moving forward. This time, it won’t happen.”

Construction and Housing Minister Yitzhak Goldknopf, who heads Agudat Yisrael, also expressed opposition, saying: “We will not pass the reform before the Draft Law. If it is possible to pass the reform during a war – it is also possible to [pass] the Draft Law.”

The reform was put on hold after the October 7 massacre as Israel shifted its focus on the Gaza war.

Levin has pushed for moving forward with judicial reform, after the hurling of flares towards the Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s home in Caesarea, followed by government inaction.

“It’s time that we gave full support in order to rehabilitate the judiciary and the law enforcement system, and in order to put an end to anarchy, recklessness, refusal, and attempts to harm the Prime Minister,” he said.

He said that the flares are “another link in a chain of violent and anarchist actions, whose purpose is to bring about the murder of the Prime Minister and bring down the elected government through a violent revolution.”

  1. The Supreme Court is the Supreme Authority without limitations on its power. If it demands the Chareidim must be drafted, they must be drafted. The Knesset can opnly pass another Draft Law which will delay the draft until it is again struck down by the Supreme Court.
So you'd think, logically, the first thing to do is judicial reform to eliminate that roadblock.

    1. Completely concur. Here is the sad scenario where charedim even acc. to their own premises are absurdly out of whack, while nationalist shrills here are fully on target

  2. Deep State behind scenes pushes the charedi brokers to take this predictably continuous foolhardy inverted stance hence keeping the potential religious coalition at loggerheads, incapable of ever organizing collective wholesome progress

    1. Parasites are funny things. They feed off their host, eventually destroying it. Now, you'd think they'd show some moderation, keep the host alive so they don't have to move on and find a new one. No, they just suck the life out of it and then figure out what to do next.
Except there is no other host in this case.
