Israelis Running to shelters Wondering if the Lakewood "Atzeres" Brought a "Kitruk" on Jews Living in Israel

 Letter from a DIN reader

This Lakewood assifa is very disturbing on several accounts. We are in the middle of a multi front war which is the most existence threatening conflict since 1948.

Do we need a Kitrug from a chelek nikar of Klal Yisroel (Lakewood) against the biggest concentration of yidden and lomdei Torah in the world (EY)?

Is this what Kevod Shomayim demands?

Is this what Achdus is all about?

Is this part and parcel of one's avodah hours before Yomim Noraim?

Is this what I send my children & grandchildren to Lakewood for?

Was this place for which I spent my 75 years' life's kochos and my last penny worth all the effort?

Here is an old man wondering if all his life was misguided by some Roshei Yeshiva who don't realize the seriousness of our Matzav.

  1. The folks in Lakewood will justify this: you see, they deserved it for trying to draft Yeshiva boys!

  2. You Tzionim are still bellyaching over your perceived slight from BMG? Get over it already. BMG did not go through with joining Satmar's big public circus which was intended to shut down the major highway Route 21 that runs from Newark to Passaic. They had a tefillah event on private property instead. You are no Daas Torah & have no right to propose that retirees should be the only ones learning. You admit yourself that things need to be ironed out to protect the ruchniyus of bnei Torah in Tzahal. Sad that it's so simple to you to become the biggest advocate of the draft before that's accomplished.

  3. Only retirees shoulud be learning? You guys retire at 26 now? Wow, nice life if you can find someone to pay for it.

  4. I have reached the point where I realize that these "Gedolim" are very lacking in many areas. I truly hope that they will receive their come uppance after their 120. I know deep inside that THEY are the cause of both the shidduch crisis and the Divorce epidemic. They push kids into getting married, but are around when the marriage falls apart. They are not marriage counselors and it would be better if they would just butt out.
