Lebanese terror outfit Hezbollah has changed its tune: After spending weeks trumpeting an apocalyptic end for Israel, the cadre of bloodthirsty cowards is begging the Jewish state to let up.
“We support the political efforts led by [Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih] Berri under the banner of achieving a cease-fire,” whined Hezbollah deputy leader Naim Qassem — for the first time not conditioning a truce on an end to the war in Gaza.
Turns out bravely attacking your enemies with uncanny precision and skill, rather than begging them for peace, is effective as a military strategy.
Who Knew?
A pager and walkie-talkie attack that blew up the Hezbollah communication network.
A subsequent rocket strike taking out the entire command of its elite Radwan unit, gathered to plan an Oct. 7-style invasion of Israel.
An airstrike on Hezbollah’s HQ in Beirut (hidden, in the obscene tradition of the region’s Islamist killers, beneath a civilian apartment block) that killed the group’s boss, Hassan Nasrallah.
A series of further strikes serially killed Nasrallah’s replacements and most of the rest of the Hezbollah command structure.
Plus an ongoing elimination of the vast Hezbollah rocket capacity (also hidden among civilians — these Axis of Resistance guys sure are brave).
If Qassem is suing for peace, it’s at least in part because he knows he’s next.
As do all other Hezbollah honchos.
Iran certainly signed off on Qassem’s plea for a cease-fire: Tehran is the puppet- and paymaster of Hezbollah, its mightiest proxy force, but the terror masters are now dreading Israel’s justified reprisal for the massive (but failed) Iranian ballistic missile assault on the Jewish state.
So there’s a double lesson here.
The first is that the strategy demanded by the Biden administration — under which Israel would somehow win peace by giving up on eliminating Hamas in Gaza, and not answering Hezbollah’s yearlong missile fire — is utterly absurd.
The second is that Iran can be cowed and constrained. Not through giving in to the regime’s demands, but by standing firm against them.
Don’t hold your breath waiting for Joe, Kamala and their Iran-worshiping inner circle to understand, though.
Biden reminds me of a guidance counsellor I met in high school. I was warned about him that as along as I did the opposite of what he told me, I'd be successful.
