Problem: One of the Sons is none other than Harav Shaul alter Shlitah, the Rosh Yeshiva of Sfas Emes. The Gerer fired him because he felt threatened by him as Harav Shaul Alter is a huge Tamid Chachim and has a huge following.
When he fired him, thousands of Gerer Chassidim left Ger to follow their Rosh Yeshiva. The Gerer Rebbe went Ape-Sh_T , and threw out all of Rav Shaul's followers from his moidois.
No Problem. Rav Shaul's followers opened up new Shuls all over the world and new Moisdois!
But then the Peni Menachim's wife died, he was the previous Gerer Rebbe and the uncle of the present Gerer Rebbe.
What to do??
If he didn't go to be "menachem ovel" that would look very petty and would be the talk of town!
So some genius came up with a solution, the rebbe would be menacheim avol only one son!
Just that you guys know all Rav Shaul's siblings back Rav Shaul 100% and all the gedoilim came to be menachim ovel Rav Shaul!
This fight that the Gerer Rebbe started when he fired his Rosh Yeshiva was all "le'shem shmayim!"
This is a prime example of Sinas Chinum amongst Chareidim!
Can you explain why none of the sons of the previous Gerer Rebbe were chosen to be Rebbe?

ReplyDeleteAll the children of Eimre Emes (Rev Avraham Mordcha z"l) became Rebbes of Ger.
His eldest son, R' Yisrael Alter, the Bais Yisrael.He had no children so when he was niftar,
his brother R' Simcha Bunim the Lev Simcha became rebbe.
Even though he had children, Ger decided to allow
his brother R' Pinchas Menachem, the Pnei Menachem to Become Rebbe
When he passed on, it went back to the rebbe who had children which was the Lev Simcha, the present rebbe is a son of the Lev Simcha.
But this rebbe is not known as a talmid chachim, so the chassidim, those who appreciate a talmid chachim, natuarly gravitated to the Rosh Yeshiva, R Shaul Alter who was the son of the Pnei Menachim.

Why didn't the other sons insist that they all sit together?

Still, this does not stop his followers to constantly harass the Rosh Yeshiva Rav Shaul.

1- he was never fired, he was running his own show within her for years until he finally left in his own.
ReplyDelete2- there weren’t thousands of followers that left with him, 95+% stayed with the Rebbe. Merely a few hundred went with him. And yes at that point he needed Moisdos for his followers since they were not welcome anymore in ger.
Please have facts straight.

He was most definitely fired, as he was given an ultimatum either he changes to the new " Ger Derech" to learn bekias only, or take a walk! That is being fired!
"95+% stayed with the rebbe?" Are you nuts? If only a small part went with R' Shaul Alter why is Ger going crazy? Why don't they just let him be? Why are they physically fighting him?
The reason is that R' Shaul Alter poses a huge threat to the Gerer Rebbe!
