As a new feature, inspired by my brother, I will begin to feature real "Gedoilei Hador" who quietly but purposefully supported the return of Jews to their homeland ......
Some of these greats you may know by name and may even have heard about, but what you don't know is that they supported Aliyah going against the Chareidie "staying in the galut mentality"....and going against the accepted norms of the "gedoilim" of their day ...
At the end of the day ... these "chalutzim" and pioneers of Jewish thought won the debate ...though the Chassidish/Yeshivash sheep will not admit it even with "reality" smacking them in the face..
One on those greats was none other than Rabbi Yeshayahu Shapira, a brother of the famous Piaseczna Rebbe, Rav Kalonymous Kalmish Shapira hy”d,the Aish Kodesh, who was brutally murdered in the Holocaust.

Rav Yeshayahu was born in Poland in 1891 and was the youngest son of Rav Elimelech of Grodzisk a Chassidic Rebbe that died when Yeshayahu was only one year old. He was then raised by his maternal grandfather who ingrained in him Chassidus and a love of Eretz Yisrael.
When he was just 23 years old, he made a trip to Eretz Yisrael which changed his life because it was there that he met Harav Avraham Yitzchok Kook z”l who made a tremendous impression on him and that meeting changed his understanding of the mitzvah of “Yishuv Eretz Yisrael,” and "Religious Zionism" as he knew it.
When WW1 broke out a few months later, he returned to Poland to be with his family but began to teach the ideas of Religious Zionism to the various Chassidic communities.
In 1917 he joined the First Mizrachi Convention and called upon all Orthodox Jews to sell their businesses and possessions and go and live in Eretz Yisrael. He became convinced that agriculture and farming were the surest of ways to reclaim the land of Israel and to bring about the redemption.
In 1920, Rav Shapira came on Aliya and immediately took over as head of the Immigration and Labor Department at the World Mizrachi Headquarters in Jerusalem.
In this capacity, he initiated the building of the Rosh Pina – Tangah Road and the cleaning of Solomon’s Pools outside of Bethlehem. Because he personally participated in these efforts, he soon became known as the Pioneer Rebbe, Ha'Admor Ha'Chalutz.
In 1921, he took part in what was to become the foundation meeting of Ha’Poel Ha’Mizrachi.
Rabbi Shapira was one of the chief instigators behind the creation of a Religious Zionist Labor movement to answer the needs of those religious youth who wished to fuse their lives which were dedicated to Torah with the ideology of Labor.
He devoted most of his time to buying land for settlement and continued to represent Ha’Poel Ha’Mizrachi.
In 1924, Rav Shapira traveled back to Poland to try and influence some of the Chassidic community to come to Eretz Yisrael.
To that end he was largely successful in convincing two fairly young rebbes, Rabbi Yehezkel Taub, the Yabloner Rebbe and Rabbi Israel Hoffstein, the Koznitzer Rebbe,to move to Israel with their Chassidim.
They bought land with the help of Rav Shapira and founded the settlements of Nahalat Ya’akov and Avodat Yisrael, which later merged into Kfar Hasidim. He went on to found Kfar Ata ...
He wrote many essays and articles, particularly on economic problems of settlement and cooperation, and was beloved for his devotion and modesty. He died in Jerusalem in 1945, and unfortunately never lived to see the establishment of the Jewish state of Israel in 1948.

THANKS SO MUCH, IT MEANS A LOT ESPECIALLY IN THESE DIFFICULT TIMES!

ReplyDeleteIt's important to publicize those who were pro religious Zionists and were moser nefesh for it .
The numerous rabbis and ordinary men & women who dedicated their lives for this movement were largely ignored to the point that we have no idea of their numbers and who they were. The Jewish books largely ignore them and their history. We have been told the lie that only few rabbis supported it, when in fact the opposite is true.
Mossad Harav Kook published a multi volumed encyclopedia of personalities; rabbis, men , women of all kinds who were connected to Yishuv Eretz Yisroel , including some who died for it.
I have 3 volumes, 2 which I was lucky to pick up at Mossad Harav Kook in Jerusalem. They're out of print but I've seen them advertised online at high prices.
Hopefully, if there are enough requests, the Mossad will republish them.
"Entziglopedia Shel Hatziyonit Hadaatit".. by Yitzchak Rafael & his wife , Geulah bat Yehuda... She is the daughter of Rabbi Maimon-Fishman who himself wrote Lemaan Tziyon Lo Echshe…. An autobiographal sefer of pro-Zionists rabbonim & gedolim whom he personally met in Europe prior to his Aliyah .

ReplyDeleteHas Gov. Murphy lost his mind?

Or was he terrorized that Agudah Fresser shlock shammass Avi THE FERD Schnall was threatening to sit on him?
Murphy released a 100 page guide to open schools in which every single safety precaution is voluntary, disguised by code words such as "where possible" or the even more lame "should be encouraged" / "should be considered".
We know that the goyishe schools will exercise all or most of the precautions. Why are Yiddishe kinder the only ones to be made korbanos thanks to Philly's deadly fantasies with anti-vaxx & pro-corona, hijacking most of the oylam through Agudah-Torah Ohn a Mesorah?
@ Bim-Bam....
ReplyDeleteAn idea to fund the re-publishing Mossad R'Kook's books would be to donate to them , instead of donating to Holocaust memorials all over the world which are being defaced and vandalized.
Incidentally, the Wash. D.C. Holocaust Museum sends schnorr letters to collect millions. They publish some kind of newsletter or magazine and a shocking column was written by one Amy something or other, opining that Israel is an occupier and she supports BDS.
This was at the 2nd of such column to appear in this rag.
Imagine... The Museum allows such trash from douche bags to desecrate the memory of our families.
There are other such organizations that are turning against Israel. If you're a member of AIPAC, for example, rip up your membership card.
AIPAC now babbling that Israel should not annex any territory.
The only organization that fully supports Israel & Trump is the ZOA, Zionist Organization of America
, of which I'm a member. Morton Klein is a proud Jew. Where is everybody else?
