Nearly a third of Jewish Americans say they have hidden their religious identity or avoided carrying items that would identify oneself as Jewish in public due to threats of anti-Semitism, according to a poll released Wednesday.
A study by the American Jewish Coalition (AJC) found that 31 percent of the respondents said they had "avoided publicly wearing, carrying, or displaying things that might help people identify [them] as a Jew."
Twenty-five percent of those surveyed also told pollsters that they at least sometimes "avoid certain places, events, or situations out of concern for [their] safety or comfort as a Jew."
The survey's results come as the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) says the rate of anti-Semitic incidents has doubled in the U.S. since 2015.
There continues to be "an alarmingly high number of anti-Semitic acts," ADL national director Jonathan Greenblatt said in April.
“We’ve worked hard to push back against anti-Semitism, and succeeded in improving hate crime laws, and yet we continue to experience an alarmingly high number of anti-Semitic acts,” Greenblatt said at the time.
Early numbers for 2019 suggest that the problem is continuing, as the ADL recorded roughly the same number of anti-Semitic attacks in the first half of 2019 as it did in the first half of 2018.
AJC's poll contacted 1,283 Jews living in the U.S. over the age of 18 between Sept. 11-Oct. 6. The margin of error is plus or minus 4.2 percentage points.
DIN,don't get me wrong i do love Israel with all my heart and soul, but unfortunately the sad truth is that Israel right now is the most dangerous place in the world for Jews, more Jews have been murdered in the holy land in just the last ten years than in all the world since world war two, thousands of civilian men women and children have been butchered in their homes while sleeping on busses while going to work they have been blown to pieces while sitting in pizza shops and yes even butchered in their shull's while praying.
ReplyDeleteA jew driving his car in our capital of Jerusalem and making a wrong turn and ending up in East Jerusalem has a very good chance of not coming home alive, you don't have this situation any place in the world not even in the most backward and antisemitic country.
Therefore as long as Israel is ruled by pathetic self hating leftist cowards who will not do what needs to be done to protect it's country and citizens,we should not encourage anyone to make aliyah.
Would you encourage someone to move into a house where the owner has murderous poisonous killer snakes roaming all over the house,of course not.
Israel has millions of poisonous murderous enemies of the Jews roaming freely and waiting for the chance to kill a Jew,this situation is untenable,
and eventually lead to a civil war.
There is only one solution "they all must go' anything else is national suicide.

ReplyDeleteYour comments are exactly straight out of the mouths of the meraglim …
the meraglim complained as you are now that it is dangerous to live in Israel...
"the people that dwell in the land are powerful... Amalek dwell in the area of the south, the Hitte, the Jebusite, and the Amorite dwell on the mountain, and the Canaanite dwell by the sea and on the bank of the Jordan"
Just last year 11 Jews were murdered in Pittsburg ...and one in San Diago,
Jews are being murdered in Chutz Leaartz slowly but surely …
Your argument was also made and said by pre-War Polish and German Jewry …. but only the Jews living in Eretz Yisroel were saved from Hitler...
Yes Jews died defending the state … but that's what they wanted to die protecting the Jewish People... not walking down Clymer Street or Lee Avenue and being murdered …
By the way, be careful how you badmouth Israel for the sake of your own family
If you really love them you would shut the hell up!

DIN,with all due respect you did not address the issue, you just called me names.the issue is,in Israel right now you have over three million murderous poisonous snakes roaming freely around killing Jews, and the leftist pathetic cowardly government and courts are not protecting them.
ReplyDeletethe sad fact is that there isn't a day that terrorist acts against Jews are not perpetrated.
calling someone "meraglim" does not change the very sad fact, that over two thousand men women and children were murdered in just the last 12 yrs and over 10,000 severely wounded losing limbs and so forth.
When the Jews conquered and entered Israel, they were instructed by the almighty to evict every last one of them, because as the Torah put it " if not they will eventually evict you from the land"
what Israel is doing right now,is nothing short of national suicide,
there is only one solution and it is GODS solution "THEY ALL MUST GO"

ReplyDeleteFrum has a point.
And if the Meraglim had no excuse for their behavior, it's mainly because at that time Klal Ysroel was ruled by Moshe Rabeinou, and Klal Ysroel was not in Golus.
Today's Golus situation is a lot different.
If a yiddisha state would be created somewhere on an island or anywhere else on the globe, a state 100% free of progressists, democrats and muslim activists, a state where Yidden could live in peace without being judged for doing what they do and for being what they are, I would litterally move over tomorrow morning.

ReplyDeleteYour comment is ridiculous ….
"And if the Meraglim had no excuse for their behavior, it's mainly because at that time Klal Ysroel was ruled by Moshe Rabeinou, and Klal Ysroel was not in Golus."
The story of the meraglim was put into the Torah to teach us to keep our mouths shut when it comes to bad mouthing the land of Israel and its inhabitants …. regardless who the leader was ..

Herzl actually initially proposed this and it was rebuffed by the Jewish people at the time..
In fact one of the complaints that Satmar has against Herzl was because of this very idea!.....
In addition … to have a "yiddisha state" not in Israel is a slap in the face to Hashem that gave us a land that is now populated with over 6 million Jews ...Kein Yirbeh
