In relation to this, Hillel haZokken said: “Al tifrosh min hatzibbur” (Avos 2: 4). Chazal also say: “When the tzibbur is in distress, but one separates himself and goes to fress, two Malochim accompany him, lay coals on his head, and say “So and so separated himself from the tzibbur in the time of their troubles, so he will not see the consolations of the community.” (Pesikta Zutra, Shmos 2:11).
