Yossi Green and Shlomo Simcha Event in Lakewood Cancelled By Rabbonim

On Thursday, November 9, composer Yossi Green and singer Shlomo Simcha Sufrin were scheduled to be at Gourmet Glatt in Lakewood, NJ, for a “Leil Shishi Experience,” an event in honor of the release of Yossi’s and Shlomo Simcha’s new album, “Leil Shishi.”
That event was been cancelled.
The event was to feature a complimentary hot and cold buffet, as well as wine tastings by The Vineyard. These have all been called off.
The event was canceled after pressure from rabbinic sources.
Some explain that there were concerns from local yeshivos regarding bochurim attending the event.
“The Leil Shishi event in Lakewood has been called off,” Yossi Green said in a humble and respectful message that was echoed by Shlomo Simcha. “The rabbonim didn’t see it as a proper idea. For us, it’s an opportunity to be mekayeim מצוה לשמוע דברי חכמים! For me, that always comes first. We always hope to do events that will be מקדש שם שמים, but if it doesn’t meet approval of דעת תורה, then it’s out.”

    1. Actually, the word is “farkakte”, פֿאַרקאַקט
in Yiddish , meaning dirty, shitty, full of crap, or screwed-up. This describes Lakewood Hashkafa exactly.

  5. This reminds of a GEVALDIG saying i once heard " what is the definition of a religious zealot?"
Answer: it is a guy who can't sleep and is up all night worrying that there might be someone someplace having a good time.LOL
this perfectly describes a some of our RA-BONIM, a bunch of old FARBISENE depressed haters who have lost their own SIMCHAS HACHAIM so they figure if i am miserable let everyone join me in my misery.

    FRUM BUT NORMAL

  7. CAN ANYONE confirm this text/tweet thats going around from Yossi Green if its TRUE:

In the spirit of being Mekayem מצוה לשמוע דברי חכמים I am DISCONNECTING from social media and deleting all my social media accounts including my twitter account. In addition I will be disposing of my smart phone as soon as I can transfer all my contacts to my new internet free cell phone. The Rabbonim dont see these things as proper.
I always hope to do things that will be מקדש שם שמים, but if it doesn't meet approval of דעת תורה, then it's out.

  12. Again, give us names of rabbonim or administrators. No fathers taking kids to baseball games, no long shaytels, no concerts, no fun of any kind, no eating ketchup with challah, lets get names. Lakewood has been radicalized, but Green gave a fawning nauseating response. He should have not said anything and let the people judge.

  14. Abe @4:40 PM, it does not sum up Lakewood Hashkafa. I have met people who studied there and know they are nice people. One of them happens to be such a sweet, huge Baal Mussar and so loving, you would love him. He is a Rosh Yeshiva, by the way.
