75 Years after Germany's Leaders Murder 6 Million Jews ......BMG Yungeleit Head to Berlin to Found New Community Kollel
Harav Malkiel Kotler shlita, Harav Shmuel Kamenetsky, shlita, Rav Shalom Kamenetsky, Rabbi Baum, Rosh Kollel, and the yungeleit of the kollel. |
Great idea!!!
Let's pour more Jewish money into Jewish Blood Soaked Europe ...
Kollim in Israel are struggling to survive, yet our Gedoilei Hador sit fit to support Hitler's Willing Executioners!
When will we ever learn? When????
Gmar Tov!!!
Gmar Tov!!!
In the coming weeks, a group of yungeleit from Beth Medrash Govoha will be leaving Lakewood to establish a new kollel in Berlin, Germany, with the goal of infusing the vibrant and growing kehillah that has developed there with an increased ruach haTorah.
The group of six kollelmembers will be led by Rabbi Yaakov Baum, who saw the challenge as a unique opportunity.
“There’s a lot that we take for granted living in Lakewood or any center of the frumworld. For families that grew up in those worlds, it’s a chance to show a community what it means to be a ben Torah or a product of Bais Yaakov,” he said. “It goes far beyond learning and shiurim. It’s a way for us to showcase what a Torahdig home looks like and to make that concept part of the spectrum of Berlin’s beautiful kehillah.”
Rabbi Baum is originally from Detroit and is a son-in-law of Harav Shalom Kamenetsky. Until taking his present position in Berlin, he was a Rosh Chaburah in Beth Medrash Govoha, where he has studied for several years.
While certain that they will face challenges in the new environment far from what the average American kollel yungerman is used to, Rabbi Baum said that he is confident that with the strength of the group that has been selected that “it will be easy to do good things.”
He also noted the phenomenal impression that the Berlin community made on him during his brief visit there.
“It’s a very sincere and cohesive group of people who have a real desire to grow in ruchniyus,” said Rabbi Baum.
The kollel will be situated in the Skoblo Center, the home of the Khal Adas Yisroel shul and a community kindergarten. It will share the beis medrash with the Rabbiner Seminar of Berlin, a modern-day incarnation of the historic Hildesheimer Seminary. Continuing the mission of Harav Ezriel Hildesheimer, zt”l, the seminary aims to produce Rabbanim to meet the needs of Orthodox communities throughout Germany.
The core of the Adas Yisroel kehillah, with which the kollel will be associated, consists of 75 families, largely from the former Soviet Union. It is a young community that boasts a Jewish elementary school funded by the Lauder Foundation, which has been the main partner in much of the revival of Jewish life in Berlin.
The Berlin project is one of 80 kollelim worldwide that are affiliated with Beth Medrash Govoha. Rabbi Sroyohu Levitansky, Director of Beth Medrash Govoha’s Community Development Office, worked with contacts in Berlin and elsewhere in selecting yungeleit and working to make the project a reality.
“We looked for yungeleit who we felt could engage the members of Berlin’s kehillah and help it keep growing,” he said. “Obviously, we are looking for people with a certain level of learning, but who also have a certain openness and energy who can connect to people who come from very different backgrounds than theirs.”
The “out-of-town” kollelim generally follow a similar model of two sedarim in which yungeleit learn b’chavrusa with each other on the level they were accustomed to in the yeshivos they came from. Nights, and often parts of Sundays and Shabbosos, have organized programs that allow them to study together with members of the broader community.
American-born Rabbi Joshua Spinner, Executive VP and CEO of The Ronald S. Lauder Foundation, has been a leader of the Berlin kehillah since 1997. It was largely as a result of his initiative that the idea of a kollel in Berlin began to take root.
“With the support of Ronald Lauder, the Wolfson family, and others, we have built up a real Torah kehillah here that is yesh me’ayin. There is nothing else like it in Germany or even in most of central Europe,” he said.
While partially funded by Beth Medrash Govoha, much of the funding for the kollel has been raised from Jews in Berlin and around Europe. Demonstrating the extent of the influence that the kollel could potentially have, he noted that several traditional but not strictly Orthodox Jews in the city had agreed to donate to the cause, but only on condition that they could set up times to learn together with members of the kollel. Another made a condition that one of the yungeleit give regular shiurim in the shul he attends.
Rabbi Spinner said that in many ways, bringing American yungeleit to Berlin was easier than to other overseas locations, noting that nearly all the kehillah’s members, and even most residents of the neighbor around the Jewish community, are proficient in English.
“We have a night kollel and an Avos Ubanim; it’s amazing what was born here in Berlin, but now we want to take things to the next level and have a group whose job it is to make sure that there’s a kol Torah that doesn’t stop,” said Rabbi Spinner.

Something MUST Be Done About Kapparos And Tashlich
The following was letter sent YWN.
Dear YWN,
I think our Brooklyn community has many serious problems that are on display each and every year at this time. They have been ignored for decades, but demand serious action very soon.
The two issues I’d like to address are Kapparos and Tashlich.
Let’s start with Kapparos.
I should start by saying that growing up as a child, my father always did Kapparos with money, but after I got married and built a family, I began doing it with chickens sort of (being honest here) for entertainment for my children. Sounds strange right? What can be more exciting for children? Trip in the car, chickens, a Shochet. Fun. But over the years I got disgusted by the things I saw, and started using money. I won’t go into the Pritzus at some of the Kapparos places in this letter. I’ll let someone else do that job.
I started seeing shrieking girls, chickens with diapers on, children covered in plastic garbage bags, people wearing 8 layers of gloves, laughing, joking, photo-ops. It turned into a big fat joke. A serious Minhag dating back to the Rishonim seemed to have turned into a laughable Minhag with people covering themselves in plastic. The carnival-atmosphere at the Kapparos centers make my stomach churn.
But overall, if this is your Minhag, then I respect it. But I think the time has come for our community leaders to take a stand and do something once and for all.
Last night in Boro Park, the animal-rights activists were at it again. Yes I know. They are a bunch of anarchists, and probably the same losers who troll the streets at the Black Lives Matters protests, and would love to join the NFL to publicly kneel during our National Anthem and spit on the Flag. But there are a few points that are of great concern.
How did these protests start?
Well, for years and years, Kapparos places treated the chickens in horrible conditions. Throwing them around like they are some sort of toys, slamming them into the crates, leaving them for days without water or adequate food etc. These are not myths. These are facts that I myself and many others can testify. I can’t count the number of times as a child on Yom Kippur my friends and I would let loose dozens of half dead chickens that some Kapparos center left on a street corner in Flatbush. It was an annual event and kept us busy on a long day, while we played outside Shul. Some years there were dead chickens in crates lying around. Yet no one seemed to care. Year after year the same local residents used the same Kapparos centers despite this horrific Tzar Baalei Chaim.
The protests started slowly, and organization such as Agudath Israel of America issued statements condemning this and begging the Kapparos facilities to take action. Some did, most didn’t.
It’s true that they will protest no matter what. In fact, many of the protesters are openly anti-Semitic. But the fact is, we have brought this upon ourselves.
SOLUTION: Move Kapparos indoors. There is no reason why we need to be swinging chickens around and then slaughtering them outside on public street corners.
Maybe rent a massive warehouse and sell tickets in our Shuls in advance and if you don’t have a ticket, you will not be allowed in the building. I don’t know how this should be done, but something MUST be done.
Kudos to the photos published by YWN yesterday from the Belzer community in Lakewood. That should be a role-model for how chickens should be kept at a Kapparos center – not to mention in record setting heat that the Tri-State Area had yesterday. The chickens were kept in what would be considered a five-star chicken hotel, with plenty of food and water constantly being fed to the chicken
I want to be clear: I am not against the holy Minhag of Kapparos at all. I just think that the Rabbonim and leading Askanim must make some drastic changes to prevent Tzar Baalei Chaim and massive Chillul Hashem. It should be noted that in the times of the Rama who says to do Kapparos with a chicken, people likely walked into their backyard on Erev Yom Kippur, took a chicken and did Kapparos and moved on in life. Chickens didn’t come delivered 150 crammed into a crate, thousands of crates on a tractor trailer – and left for days without normal food and water.
Let’s talk about Tashlich, shall we?
This writer was stuck in traffic two nights ago for over an hour coming from Staten island to Brooklyn. Know why? Because we just HAVE to do Tashlich on the Belt Parkway. We just NEED to cause tens of thousands of non-Jews to be stuck in rush hour traffic because Yidden decided that the only place to get rid of our Aveiros is on the side of the Belt Parkway. I personally witnessed other drivers furious and yelling anti-Semitic slurs at the Jews for causing them to get home from work an hour late.
Why must we antagonize people? Why can’t Tashlich be done in an area where this would not disrupt the lives of any commuter driving on the highway? In fact there is a simple solution – and this writer even tried to make this happen, but my input was shot down instantly.
I called a wonderful leading Askan in Boro Park, who has been doing good for the community for decades. He is the individual that arranges with the NYPD to have resources at the Tashlich location on the Belt Parkway. But when he was called this past summer – MONTHS before Tashlich – the idea was declined.
The idea was to have Tashlich moved a few miles away to Floyd Bennet Field, which is located on the waterfront. It is a 5-10 minute drive from the current location on the Belt Parkway. There is parking for approximately 1 million vehicles (no joke). Floyd Bennett Field is an old airport. No one would know there are thousands of Yidden doing Tashlich there. It’s such a simple solution. All that needs to happen is a few ads in the newspapers of a location change, the Rebbes would all move their Tashlich outings that they do with hundreds – and in some cases thousands – of their Chassidim to the new location. This would also save NYC a fortune in NYPD overtime – but most of all prevent another few thousand ordinary Americans from becoming instant Anti-Semites.
The idea was declined because of these reasons (direct quotes):
1- The people will never go to another location.
2- There are benches on the Belt Parkway. (He is correct. There are around 10 benches for 10,000 people to share. Easily chairs and benches can be brought to Floyd Bennett Field).
3- I would be happy to ask to have the location moved, but you need to call other community leaders.
These reasons are a joke. Enough is enough. It’s time to stop antagonizing our neighbors, and start doing this quietly. We should be demanding that our self-appointed community activists and leaders and our Rabbonim get together and start making some drastic changes in the way we do things like this.
We are blessed to live in the United States of America where there is freedom of religion. But that comes with a price. What is the price? BEING RESPONSIBLE IN THE PUBLIC EYE!
We have forgotten that we are in Galus. The response of “they also do such things” is a stupid response. “They” are not in Galus. “WE” are.
Wishing you all a Gmar Chasima Tova.

Man Shoots His Brothers For Informing On Him For Skipping Shul On Yom Kippur
A fascinating little snippet from the Forverts’ front page on September 26, 1923,
Having been rebuked by his brothers for not having attended synagogue on Yom Kippur, Isaac Gordon, a young Manchester man, quickly drew his revolver and fired on his Orthodox brothers, Meyer and Binyomen.
The first of them was wounded in the right wrist while the bullet caught the second one’s left foot.
In court, the attacker was charged with shooting with intent to murder.

Michael Savage: The National Felons League Is Spitting on America, Not the Fans

Take a listen as Savage chastises the NFL in his opening monologue today.

Partial transcript as follows:
As many of you know, I have just written a book about god. There’s a passage from the bible I’d like to quote for you. It’s from Proverbs 3:31 and it reads, “envy thou not the oppressor and choose none of his ways.”Today, the oppressors are the bullies of the NFL who kneel or hide when our national anthem is played, forcing a captive audience to witness their vile, insulting, and uninformed view of what America stands for.I’ll tell you what America stands for. We are a nation in which no citizen is treated differently under the law, regardless of their color, race, financial status, creed, or nation of origin. Even these hysterical millionaires have rights. So I encourage all of you to do the same: exercise your rights. Turn off your TVs. “do not choose the ways” of the anarchists, the ignorant, whether they take the form of Neo-Nazis, Antifa or professional athletes. The national anthem is about a nation, not a president. President Trump says players who protested the National Anthem being played before games should be fired from their teams over the weekend, and the whole world exploded. Yesterday, America was treated to NFL players taking a knee, or sitting or locking arms while the national anthem was being played in protest of what the President said. Well, guess what? They weren’t protesting a President; they were giving a big middle finger to the country.President Trump says players who protested the National Anthem being played before games should be fired from their teams over the weekend, and the whole world exploded. Yesterday, America was treated to NFL players taking a knee, or sitting or locking arms while the national anthem was being played in protest of what the President said. Well, guess what? They weren’t protesting a President; they were giving a big middle finger to the country. That flag and that song should be a unifying moment, a moment to say ‘no matter what differences we have, we are all American, and it’s a privilege to be one.’ But a bad player, influenced by his radical Muslim girlfriend last year decided to make it about him. He claimed to be protesting the killing of black men in America by the police while at the same time wearing a shirt praising the Castros of Cuba. And it’s spread to this. ‘He’s practicing his first amendment rights’ everyone said.Well, Donald Trump practiced his first amendment rights, and an entire league lost their minds. This tradition goes back a hundred years to World War 1. The people loved their country then, with boys fighting overseas in a horrible war. We have soldiers on the battlefield today, and these players just spit on them. The national anthem is about a nation, not about a President. And if these thugs don’t know that, they should be thrown off the team. And the commissioner of this league supports this. He should be thrown out too. He’s saying these players have a right to their free speech and to protest if they see fit. But it wasn’t that way when the Dallas Cowboys wanted to wear stickers on their helmets to honor the police after several Dallas policemen were shot. No, he wouldn’t allow that. Or when an NFL player wanted to honor 9/11 victims with a decal on his shoe. No, we couldn’t have that either. But spitting on the flag, you can do that all day.But people will still defend these thugs who spit on everything good about America, saying it’s their right. But is it? Yes, they can say what they want, but shouldn’t they be accountable for what they say? Their bosses should fire them because they’re staining their product with anti-Americanism. But they won’t do anything because they’re too afraid of the backlash that the leftist fascists have instigated in this country. All that we used to honor and respect must be thrown out, and we have to accept the ridiculous.Man is a woman; a woman is a man, America is bad, the Soviet Union was good. The Soviet Union was good and now Russia is bad. The civil rights movement never happened, minorities are now more oppressed than ever. It’s upside down. The fact that these players can do what they did yesterday, with no repercussions whatsoever disproves their arguments. Where could you do this on the planet? Dictatorial regimes you’d be killed or put in torture prisons. Even in Westernized countries you have laws against certain speech. I’ve been banned from Britain for something I didn’t even say, but here millionaire thugs can go on national TV and vehemently hate the country.Remember this, when they do what they did yesterday, they’re not disrespecting a President; they’re disrespecting an entire nation. They’re disrespecting you and me.

New York Synagogue Unveils First Torah Written By a Woman Dedicated in a Christian Church!
Julie Seltzer the Sofer |
The independent synagogue Tamid, located in downtown Manhattan, has unveiled its new Torah, entirely written by a female sofer, this week as celebrations for the High Holidays begun.
The Torah, the first one ever written by a woman for a Manhattan synagogue, was unveiled the morning of Rosh Hashana at St.Paul’s Chapel, the oldest house of worship in New York City and where the congregation resides.
The scribe, Philadelphia native Julie Seltzer spent two and a half years writing the 304,805 letters scroll. She was chosen for her work as an educator, artist and community builder.
“Being a female scribe is something very new in the Jewish tradition,” she said in a video posted on Tamid’s website about the new Torah. “It has been traditionally forbidden for a woman to write a Torah. If she did write a Torah, it would not be accepted as Kosher.”
“I have the honor to be a role model for girls and young women,” Seltzer added. “I really love the idea of being part of the link in that chain of history.”
Tamid practices what they call “positive Judaism,” which focuses on ways Judaism can help one enhance their personal well-being.
“We have an expanded view of tradition and Jewish law,” the founding Rabbi, Darren Levine said. “While we respect the ancient ways, we live in a different era and our tradition needs to evolve to stay relevant to the values we hold dear today; equality among men and women is just one of these modern values.”
Over 450 people involved with Tamid have also left their mark on the new Torah as well, by writing letters in the scroll with Seltzer’s guidance.
“The truth is that we did not commission Julie to write our scroll because she is a woman,” member of Tamid’s Leadership Council Alla Liberman said. “We commissioned Julie because she best reflects our vision for positive Jewish life in the 21st Century.”
Satmar Hooligans Disturb Viznitz Rosh Hashana and Shabbos Shabbos Prayers in Monsey
R' Meir Porush |
So you think that Satmar would be busy davening on Rosh Hashana, and the Shabbos after, letting others daven peacefully.
Keep on dreaming .... you are forgetting that they are descendants of Romanian gypsies, who have an anti-Jewish agenda, and won't allow anyone live even if it means desecrating the holiest day. Shabbos crappos .....to them its all the same.
This Rosh Hashana and the day after on Shabbos, the day after Rosh Hashana the holiest day of the year, a bunch of savages from the Satmar cult, bored with their miserable existence, burst into a Monsey Shul in the Viznitz community, and started yelling at R' Meir Porush, the Israeli Deputy Education Minister, while he was in the middle of davening yelling that he was "destroying the Jewish people through the forced IDF draft."
The gangsters waited for the shul to be quiet during musaf and then began shouting “sheigetz” at Porush. They returned on shabbos during laining.
Some Jewish blogs called the "savages" "Sikrikim" the Israeli fanatics who throw stones on frum soldiers.......
The gangsters waited for the shul to be quiet during musaf and then began shouting “sheigetz” at Porush. They returned on shabbos during laining.
Some Jewish blogs called the "savages" "Sikrikim" the Israeli fanatics who throw stones on frum soldiers.......
don't you believe this for one second ....these are not "Sikrikim" these are gangsters from Satmar Institutions ...who quote the "Va'Yoel Moshe, the Satmar Quran!
Police were summoned to the scene and they were hauled off.
The truth is that Satmar is loosing hundreds to drug addiction and suicides. Hundreds if not thousands are leaving the fold and dumping the religion on the way .....writing books and producing videos on UTube describing their experiences.
Instead of dealing with the problems in their own communities they export their anti-Israel agenda to terrorize those who won't go along with their bizarre and archaic SHIT'ah!
The State of Israel is here to stay and all their stupid "ve'lamsheenoms" in the world will not stop the State of Israel from building and growing like no other country in the entire world.
They are upset that the viable State flies in the face of their agenda, with hundred of thousands of Boys and Yungaleit learning Torah, like no time in the entire Jewish history... people are coming back from the 4 corners of the world ..... and that is like a "Brakel" bone in their parched throats.
Happy New Year!

Wiretaps may prove Trump right — and that’s absolutely terrifying
Over the years, a curious habit has taken hold at the United Nations. A body designed to strengthen the best of humanity has too often become a font of doublespeak and appeasement that protects the worst of humanity.
That tragic comity was shattered when President Trump played the skunk at the garden party and dared to tell the truth. Many truths, in fact.
Among them, that Islamic terrorism is a scourge that must be stopped. That Iran is controlled by a “murderous regime” bent on getting nukes.
That North Korea’s “Rocket Man is on a suicide mission” and the United States “will have no choice but to totally destroy” that country if war begins. And that socialism and communism have failed everywhere, including Cuba and Venezuela.
The delegates and heads of state got The Full Trump, including what it means to put America First. It was the president’s finest, most complete expression of his worldview and, thankfully, contained no apologies for American power or history.
Yet even as Trump spoke, a threat to his presidency gained new steam. Reports that special counsel Robert Mueller had wiretapped former Trump campaign boss Paul Manafort and plans to indict him sent Washington into a new tizzy of speculation.
According to CNN, which first carried the wiretapping report, Manafort was surveilled under a FISA warrant, meaning the FBI suspected he was operating as a foreign agent. The network said it is possible G-men listened to the president talking to Manafort because the wiretap continued into this year and Trump and Manafort often talked in 2017.
If so, that would mark an infamous history — an American president being overheard by secret agents of his own government.
It would also be additional support for Trump’s charge that former President Barack Obama “had my ‘wires tapped’ in Trump Tower just before the victory.”

Trump Was Right All Along ...Obama and Comey Wiretapped Trump
Absolutely incredible, Trump was actually wiretapped.
Remember when the media called him insane, and everybody told him he didn’t know what he was talking about.
Remember when everybody was saying this is typical of having an outsider that doesn’t know what he’s doing, it turns out that the Obama administration and James Comey’s FBI wiretapped the head of Trump’s campaign, Paul Manafort, including conversations Manafort had with Trump.
We also know the New York Times has a story today that there was a raid on Manafort’s home not long ago, predawn.
The FBI picked the lock at Manafort’s home while he was at home in bed and stormed in the front door and demanded computer files and computers and documents and walked out of there. This is the result of the Mueller investigation. And there are threats now they’re trying to get Mueller to flip and other people by threatening to indict him.
And we now know there was a wiretap that James Comey pooh-poohed and laughed at during congressional testimony.
You remember. When Trump said his wires were being tapped at Trump Tower and they didn’t find anything, and the establishment smirked, and the establishment snickered, and they all started laughing and said, “Trump, this is typical. He doesn’t know what he’s doing. He’s insane. He’s shooting from the hip.” It turns out that all of that was correct.
The New York Times reports this as though it’s something that happens every day. Yep, the FBI showed up, they picked the lock of Manafort’s front door in Virginia and walked in and woke him up along with his family and then started demanding things and taking things.
So now we know that not only Obama and Comey’s FBI were wiretapping Trump Tower where Manafort has lived since 2006, although it was his Virginia home where they showed up and picked the lock. That was a no-knock search, Manafort’s house, picked the lock at his house to seize records while he was asleep in the bedroom. That used to happen in other countries, that kind of thing that happened here. Maybe it happens against drug lords, but we’re not talking about drug cartels or anything here.
So now we’re gonna relive all the stories from the smart aleck Drive-By Media assuring everybody that Trump was off his rocker, that nobody cared enough about Trump to be wiretapping anything he was doing.
I don’t care whether they had a warrant for the wiretap. That’s not the point.
I don’t care if they think they had a legitimate case against Manafort.
The fact is, Manafort’s phone calls were tapped, he talked to Trump, Trump said he was tapped, and they made a mockery of him. This is not the first instance of this where Trump has made an allegation that people think is off the wall, and it turns out to be true.
R' Shlomo Zalman Blau Drowns in Jordan River Leaves 11 Orphans
A 46 year old man drowned to death in the Jordan River Monday. The man was identified as Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Blau, a 46-year-old resident of the Neve Yaakov neighborhood in Jerusalem.
The Behadrei Haredim Hebrew news website reported that the father went to pray at the tombs of the righteous together with his children. Afterwards, the family went for a walk near the Arik Bridge on the Jordan River in the Golan Heights.
Rabbi Blau saw his 16-year-old daughter in distress in the river and jumped into the river in an attempt to save her. He drowned in the attempt.
Two passerby saw the incident and pulled Rabbi Blau out of the river. They attempted to resuscitate him until Magen David Adom paramedics arrived. However, they were forced to declare his death at the scene. His daughter was rescued and physically unharmed.
Rabbi Blau leaves behind 11 children, including a soon to be married bride.
The funeral procession will start at midnight from the Shamgar funeral home to Jerusalem's Har Hamenuhot where Rabbi Blau will be laid to rest.
