People are still wondering how this stupid fool made it to Washington. Just goes to say that you don't have to be bright to represent the naive sheep of New York...
This out of touch idiot just made a speech in Congress that he will not reach out to the President of the United States to shake his hand, claiming that the President "looked the other way when threats against the Jewish community have increased in recent year"
The fact that Trump is in office barely a year, and has the most pro-Israel stance in our entire history, doesn't faze this clown.
And if he doesn't want to shake the hand of the President, he doesn't have to .......why make a public statement?
And if he doesn't want to shake the hand of the President, he doesn't have to .......why make a public statement?
Call this nut case and let him know that he is embarrassing the Jewish people by dissing our President!
ENGEL REMARKS ON ATTENDING THE PRESIDENT’S ADDRESS
- As Delivered – Click Here for Video -
WASHINGTON D.C.—Representative Eliot L. Engel, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs and a senior member of the Committee on Energy and Commerce, today delivered the following remarks in the House of Representatives:
“Thank you, Mr. Speaker. I have long prided myself on working across the aisle to get things done for my constituents and all the American people. That’s what most people want: a government that grapples with tough issues in a constructive way. Unfortunately, since January 20th, the new Administration has shown no interest in working with the Congress on both sides to tackle problems, including Russia’s unlawful interference in last year’s election. That’s why I’ve decided not to stand on the aisle of the House chamber to shake the President’s hand during this joint session of Congress, as I have done in the past through Democratic and Republican administrations alike. This will be the first time during my 29 years in the House that I’ve made this decision.
“I have deep respect for the Presidency, and I will attend the joint session. But that respect between branches must be mutual. The President has attacked the free press by calling it the ‘enemy of the people.’ He’s rejected America’s traditional role welcoming refugees, which have helped to make our country great. He’s cozied up to Vladimir Putin, the strongman who attacks our democracy. He’s moved to gut the Affordable Care Act and looked the other way when threats against the Jewish community have increased in recent year.
“This isn’t part of our normal political discourse. This goes beyond ideological and political differences. The President needs to work with all people. And therefore, I will listen to what he has to say today, but I will not greet him and shake his hand. Thank you.”
If Engel really said that he is a pathetic LIAR. The liberal Jews in this country are the most out of touch group of any other. They are the only people that go out of their way to vote against the interests of their own people and to support politicians who are hostile to Israel and Jews while spurning politicians and elected officials who have demonstrated friendship. SICK and SAD! The only cure is Torah. And that is something they know nothing about and in which they have not interest.
ReplyDeleteTorah is the only cure......
ReplyDeleteWill it cure my hemorrhoids?
ReplyDeleteAish is worse than hemorrhoids
DeleteEven though you may not realize - yes. That and Davening to and believing in Hashem!!
ReplyDeleteAishKodesh 7:57 PM
ReplyDeleteDaven for me for the rest of the week and I'll report the results to you right after Havdalah.
Yes sir! However, keep in mind that the Steipler Gaon zt"l teaches that Tefillah WILL be answered - it just may take some time.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I will Daven for you and say Tehillim for you for more than a week.
AISHKODESH 8:47pm,
ReplyDeleteI don't mean in anyway to belittle Hashem's discretion on when and to whom he might deliver physical healing, nor in the efficacy of your pleadings and prayers on my behalf.
Its just why with all the cataclysmic political and social events occurring in our generation why would Hashem take a personal interest in my hemorrhoids? And as for the Steipler's assurance that my Tefilah will be answered, all I can say is that I bet that That esteemed Talmud Chochom never had hemorrhoids.
LOL. I can't take this anymore. AISHKODESH, I don't have hemorrhoids, but thank you for your promised intercession on my behalf with Hashem.
Such extreme and overpowering Emunah like yours might be dangerous in other countries but on this blog its a refreshing bit of whimsy.
thank you Aishkodesh fro staying positive.
ReplyDeleteAis Kodesh is a fake frummie
ReplyDeleteAISH KODESH
ReplyDeleteYou must be one of the biggest hypocrites and fakes phoneys and frauds that ever visited this web site.
If you are such a FRUM TZADDIK as you claim to be,why the hell are you on the internet and especially on this particular blog where you come across on a myriad of transgressions like " LASHAN HARA" RECHILUS" NIVUL PEH" BIZAYON TALMIDEI CHACHAMIM" etc, etc,
aren't you aware that reading all this is exactly the same SIN as saying it or writing it yourself, awaiting an explanation from you,but not holding my breath
CHAIM
Emunah is whimsy? Abe, what do ou do when life gets tough, drink a little ? maybe you mean whiskey.
ReplyDeleteRabbi "Aish" is one of the "Gedolim" the kind you have to distance yourself arba amos
ReplyDeleteAbe, Baruch Hashem for that. Hemorrhoids are not pleasent.
ReplyDeleteWell, since I said I would, I still have to Daven for you in some way.... As it says 'M'Dvar Sheker Tirchak' - emphasize 'tirchak'.
As for CHAIM, if Lashon Hara is allowed if there is a valid toeles, reading it is surely allowed if there is one. And if I can stop even a little Lashon Hara, etc. or help in any way by being here - I think that might be enough of a toeles. So.... yeah.
P.S. B"H, I began a new series on my blog of a (near)-daily teaching, saying or story - anyone who would like to check it out just go to achsameach.blogspot.com - or click on 'AishKodesh.'
Anonymous 7;54AM,
ReplyDeleteWhen you believe Hashem takes an interest in hemmoroids, you dishonor the proposition of Emunah.
And when life gets tough, I reach for a tube of Preparation H and the tough get going. When it comes to hemmoroids, that medication is where I direct my faith.
Abe, people must do Hishtadlus, yes, but Hashem is the Only One Who can really heal. Even if some medication seems to work - that is from Hashem. Hashem DOES care about hemorrhoids - He said so: 'Ki Ani Hashem Rofecha'. He is in our personal lives down to the smallest detail - even us being able to breath, walk, etc.
ReplyDeleteAishKodesh 12:41PM,
DeleteI really don't want to belabor this debate but
you obviously have little understanding of a number of Rishonim and Achromim who would disagree with you on the notion of Hashem's preoccupation with every infinitesimal thought, consideration and action of every person on this planet.
The next time you study the perushim of the RALBAG ( Rav Levi Ben Gershon -- Gersonides) in gemara Berachot or Tanach, you might consider that he and a number of other Rishonim and Achromim disagree with your perception of Hashem's ultra micro-management of the universe.
"In contrast to the theology held by Orthodox Judaism, Gersonides held with those who denied God's omnipotence. "Gersonides, bothered by the old question of how God's foreknowledge is compatible with human freedom, holds that what God knows beforehand is all the choices open to each individual. God does not know, however, which choice the individual, in his freedom, will make". See here:
http://orthoprax.blogspot.com/2005/11/gersonides-heretic.html?m=1
And here:

Don't believe everything they force-feed you in yeshiva.
abe, if u believe that Hashem takes care of you then he also takes and gives hemmoroids. To HIM what's the difference/ You're not that much bigger than a hemmoroid and they don't grow on tress or bananas but in people for a reason. But you choose not to believe that.He also gave people ideas how to treat them but u don
ReplyDeletet believe that either. You're intellectually dishonest.
Anonymous 6:33 PM,
DeleteI responded and rebutted the thrust of your rant, but DUS for some reason decided not to post it.
And to what I said.....?
ReplyDeleteאנו מאמינים והם מאמינים. אנו מאמינים בה' . והם מאמינים
in Preparation H.
youre the one forcefeeding here. You're trying to bring a Ralbag which has nothing to do with hemorrhoids and omniscience of the Creator.
ReplyDeleteOnly zinnim & pakim, translated as cold & fever are human induced, no other thing or illness, and even these terms are debated.
Everywhere else in the Torah , it speaks of illness and the Creator's ability to heal either through prayer, repentence and such.
Ki Ani H________ rofecho, follows the part that HE won't give sickness as in Egypt if you commit to do the commandments. This also ties in with hashgacha pratit or klaalit which is debated by Maimonidies and others.
You're trying to make this all simple like we guys are fools and ignorants for being believers, but you want to force some Wikipediea down our throats. The bigger question is why you're so bothered by those who believe. The answer is that you'll only feel confident of your own opinions if everbody else throws their beliefs away, and this is the same for the Inquisition or Jewish apostates and such. If the Creator wants one to have hemorrhoids or migrains for a lifetime then no medication will help , just do honest research and see people in hospitals and wards and how some are cured of illness and others not, you can't explain that.
Abe%%%%
ReplyDeleteMillions of people have dreams, deja vu and intuitions about future events and even exact conversations with others which come true in future and are proven.
Abe 4:03 PM,
ReplyDeletePlease tell me; do you breath? Does your heart beat? Can your limbs move?
It is pretty clear.....
Before quoting Rishonim or Acharonim - look straight at Der Heilige Torah.....
Anonymous 12:43 PM and AishKodesh 2:11PM,
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that my 4:03PM comment finally appeared and I commend DUS for permitting continuing debate on the question of Hashem's precognition.
It's apparent that you both embrace pick and choose hashkafa to make it fit with your perception of Hashem's foreknowledge. You don't try to explain why you both disagree with Rishonim and Achromim who say that Hashem's foreknowledge is limited and why those great Talmidei Chachomim might be wrong. I'm sure RALBAG knew every posuk in the Torah which you quote, yet he said:
," the Halacha can not prevent us from considering to be true that which our reason urges us to believe" (Introduction to the "Milḥamot Elokim,p. 6).
When I posed the question as to why Hashem might concern himself with my hemorrhoids, I was thinking of what The RALBAG would have considered about the matter. He would have said that wouldn't be Hashem's concern.
When I said that your Yeshiva force-fed you the hashkafa under which you proclaim True Belief, I neglected to mention one thing that was not force-fed -- critical thinking. In fact I don't think you even know the meaning of the term.
The truth is, Abe, the Ralbag zt"l didn't say anything like what you are trying to say. He merely said that the Halacha cannot prevent us from CONSIDERING what our reason urges us to believe. Only considering it.....
ReplyDeleteAnd, #2, I want to just ask you a quick question; do you believe that Hashem controls the world?
AishKodesh 7:28PM,
DeleteYou are being disingenuous and clearly wrong.
According to RALBAG , the sun did not stop for Yehoshua (Joshua 10:12-14) but only appeared to do so because the battle was over so soon.
As for Hashem's control of the world, what is your perception of word "control" ? Does Hashem consciously and deliberately determine how many water drops from are to drip from my bathroom faucet after I turn the handle to shut the water off? Do you really believe that a creator of our extraordinary complex universe would occupy himself with such meaningless tasks. RALBAG says no!
just because u think them meaningless doesn't mean Hashem thinks so, we say Asher Yatzer because we can go to the bathroom and HE determines if we can even eject one drop. If he chooses to stop u then u wind up in the hospital.Control may not mean eavery drop of ur faucet, but HE is aware of it anyway and if he chooses he break ur pipe and flood your apartment, so HE chooses when to let his own created NATURE work by itself or he intervenes when HE wishes, that's what it means. Ur peeing is just as xomplex as the universe.
ReplyDeleteYes, Abe, every drop of water. Do you think anything could happen without Him? He is not a person - so there is no such thing as "occupying" Himself with something. People just use that term for we are humans. But He can do everything at the same time! He cares for the biggest thing down to the smallest..... 'If a man were to hide in secret places, would I not see him?; says Hashem.' Yirmiyahu 23:24.
ReplyDeleteBut I suppose it's up to each person what they believe....
AishKodesh 9:55AM,
DeleteIf it comes down to whom I should believe about Hashem's attributes, you or the Heilige RALBAG, I'll listen to him over you anytime.
Well of course if it came down to that! However..... He didn't quite say what you think he did.....
ReplyDeleteAishKodesh 4:29PM,
ReplyDeleteYou really should study his sefer Milchemet Elokim. I cited one of his remarks from that sefer:
RALBAG said: the sun did not stop for Yehoshua (Joshua 10:12-14) but only appeared to do so because the battle was over so soon.
Do you believe the sun actually stopped or is the RALBAG wrong?
Or you going to say, with apologies to Jackie Mason:
"You don't understand what the RALBAG said. "He really didn't say that the sun didn't stop, you just think that's what he said, but he didn't mean that." "And if he did say that, that doesn't mean that he really believed it and it couldn't mean that he really believed it because he wouldn't be such a great Talmud Chochom if he did."
Gimme a break ! Learn how to think critically!
I don't like to think critically usually..... I like to be a very Simchadikke and positive person.
ReplyDeleteBut based on what's being said on here, I can understand the teaching of
הרב אברהם שור שליט"א - when he said that טֶבַע (the word for nature - just the way of the world) and the word for drowning have the same letters because we drown in טֶבַע..... We certainly do....
