A vacant lot on a Borough Park corner may soon be the home to a synagogue of epic proportions.
Congregation Heichal Hatefillah, led by Rabbi Binyomin Eisenberger, has filed plans for a 93,720 square foot synagogue to be located at 1772 52nd Street, which runs from the southeast corner of Old New Utrecht Avenue on 52nd Street until 18th Avenue.
The six story building designed by prolific architect Karl Fischer, will have three floors located above ground, with the remaining three levels located below street level. Plans for the structure include offices, banquet and lecture halls and an on-site mikvah. Living quarters for Rabbi Eisenberger are also included in the plan and are estimated at 12,224 square feet by real estate website New York Yimby.
Pictures of the proposed synagogue show a large airy space with numerous windows, two levels of women’s balconies on each side of the building and four long rows of wood encased seating to hold the many expected congregants.According to the Karl Fischer website, the synagogue is expected to be completed in 2017.
Fischer, who has offices in both New York and Montreal, has designed numerous buildings in Williamsburg as well as the 180,000 square foot Yeshiva Darchei Torah pre-school, elementary and junior high school campus in Far Rockaway.
The opening comment on this post IMHO doesn't reflect nicely on it's writer. It seems to stem from some jealousy or some other faulty Midah.
ReplyDeleteAdditionally, The Gemara says that shuls will come to Eretz Yisroel when Moshiach comes, so building a big shul doesn't show that he doesn't expect Moshiach. Also, The Gemara says that a shul should be the tallest and most magnificent building in the area as it says לרומם את בית אלוקנו.
And when moshiach comes all the shuls will be attached to the Beis Hamikdash and 770 will be sharing a wall with the bhmk
DeleteAs You SURLY know, all shuls will be relocated to Israel when Moshiach comes. Thus, the one and only edifice to build bigger and larger are shuls. As opposed to all the fancy private homes in our area, and beyond, are a waste. Unless they pray and study in those homes then maybe (according to some) will also be relocated.
ReplyDeleteHarry-Get over this moshiach nonsense if he didnt come during the holocaust then its all a hoax.
ReplyDeleteIt says in Rambam hilchos moshiach that if you don't believe in moshiach you are a koifer
DeleteSo, Moshiach Now!
יחי אדונינו מורינו ורבינו מלך המשיח לעולם ועד

ReplyDeleteI plan to daven in the בית המקדש
What about all the Shuls that Hitler and Chelmetizky and the Crusaders burned down ... are they also coming to Israel?
How about the Shuls in Ushah and in Pumpeduda that were utterly distroyed .... will they also come to Israel ?
what does the gemarrah say about that ?
Dusiznies, I don't know the answer to your question. I only said that building a big shul isn't a lack of expecting Moshiach.
ReplyDeleteJancsi,
ReplyDeleteFinish your tea and go back to your hole. You haven't said anything intelligent for years!
(and don't forget to leave your teeth neatly on the night table.)
My teeth are my own and if you still think that moshiah is going to come then you must be living in a fantasy land .
ReplyDeleteMy Rebbi in cheder taught me that all shuls will fly in the cargo compartment of the eagle when we go to Ey with moshiach
ReplyDeleteyay its sounds like fun cant wait
Moshiach doesn't need more chutz laaretz shuls... Moshiach wants live Jews to come, let Hashem worry about the shuls...
ReplyDeleteA new excuse..!! Hashem wants us in Eretz Yisroel, especially in our days... Tell me, are the fancy homes also flying to EY??
This is an Agadeteh, so we don't know which or what shuls will fly there, we don't even know exactly what this means... We DO know that most Rishonim & Poskim hold of yishuv EY even bazman hazeh... We DO know that fancy homes & condos ain't flyin' there any time soon....
I thought I heard all excuses... A new one now.... Put everything on Moshiach... He'll do this, he'll do that, just leave me be.. What a heavy job for poor Moshiach.. Moshiach, if you're listening.... D'ya hear how the amcha is deaingl with you???? Ask the French Jews, the largest Jewish population in galut outside of the USA... Read the signs...

Cha Cha de Chazente posting for the Derby... Who's shlinging some Bourbon to stay cool.
jancsibacsi - what holocaust??
ReplyDeleteDIN, The Derby is a person whom I respect and I would like to respond respectfully to his comment. Why don't you post my response to him?
ReplyDeleteForget Mashiach and inyonim about shuls relocating to Israel upon his arrival. Haredim moan and groan about Tznuis and blame every bad event in the world on improper levels of modesty (always placing responsibility on Jewish women to be more strict). Now this clown comes along and plans to build a shul that will be so extravagant and gaudy that it will probably repulse both Jews and non Jews. What about Tznius when it comes to shuls, homes, and other public structures that scream "LOOK AT ME- LOOK HOW WEALTHY AND FANCY WE ARE!" Obviously the rules of modesty go right out the fancy and expensive stained glass windows when Jewish money can go on public display. Quite frankly, this story makes me want to puke because its another example of conspicuous consumption by big shot money makers whose wives probably wear bullet proof stockings, yet flaunt their wealth and receive publicity for doing so, while other people are starving.
ReplyDeleteLol
DeleteThis Eisenberger is a real FRAUDSTER. Waiting for him to be exposed... it will happen sooner than later. Another cult leader using religion to build a business. A two-faced animal who steps on people so he can raise himself up.
ReplyDeleteThis rabbi shows up once a week to give a shiur to the W Shul & Harborview crowd in Lawrence.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if he initiated it to sniff around for money or if someone is importing him. I don't know much about him.
There is another "rabbi" however who is a through & through fraud who initially wanted to set up shop in Lawrence but ended up in another very wealthy community where the people are much more naive & easy prey for their money than the Lawrence machers.
If you want to be critical, at least be accurate. Malachi'm will carry his shul to E"Y. And Eisenberger knows that.
ReplyDeleteNot surprised Eisenberger goes to Lawrence once a week. A real tuches lecker... He goes to Upper West Side of Manhattan once a month to give a shiur at home of Dr. Diamond. Of course it's all about money -- he begins by singling out a special greeting to "Mrs. Wassner." That lady skips to the front of line, no matter where she goes. Belzer Rebbetzen oohs and ahhs when she sees her... wonder why? $$$$ Oilam Goilem!
