Many matzah baking tools and a blow torch were found in the apartment in which the fire originated. The suspicion at this time is that the gas line was not attached correctly, causing gas to leak and build up in the room until it resulted in an explosion and a large fire. Both residents of the apartment, a 74 year old male with burns to 30% of his body and a 67 year old female suffering from burns to 20% of her body were taken by MDA to Hadassah Ein Kerem hospital.
The fire caused extensive damage to a two story apartment complex housing 30 apartments. The complex was built over a hundred years ago.
Both the fire department and Hatzalah would like to remind the public of the dangers of private matzah baking and the improper usage of gas tanks and portable ovens. Every year people have gotten hurt by baking matzos privately , and by koshering dishes in a negligent manner

Unfortunately in this fire we have ,2, tragedies, (1) an elderly couple was rushed to hospital with terrible burns on their bodies, (2) ,3,families where left with out nothing especially now before Passover, no apartments, no roof under themselves,,no clothing,, but ashes,,because of the stupidity making a,,matzah oven in such an old,,neah sheurim apartments,,now what,? Now suddenly they will become, the rachmunis ,we will be calling together emergency campaigns to help out all this families who staid with out an apartments,, but will they learn a lesson from this,?, or once there apartment will be built over we will be finding another matzah factory inside,,?
ReplyDeleteA rov who is a big mumche in kashrus tells people he is not happy that a New Square company under Skver shguche is selling a kashering kit with a brick to heat up red hot. He says it is a minhag some have, not a chiyuv at all. But the downside is that people could chalila get hurt very easily.

Unfortunately in Boro park, there is a, shull (( don't remember the name)) its by ,,45,street and,13avenue,,on the right side, its a beautiful shull,,mamesh a new build shull, and unfortunately before ,Passover, (pesach) they create a temporary matzah oven in the basement,, they turn the entire basement into a matzah bakery, but once the matzah oven starts burning the entire basement becomes like clouds of smoke ,that they must keep all the doors to the streets open to be able to breath, this is how Smokey the basement becomes, my question to every one is , Where in the Torah does it say that when it comes to pesach we should put our selves in harm's way,?, or we should put people and buildings in danger,? Aren't we supposed to obey by the rules of fire codes,? Are we aloud to make a temporary matzah oven in a basement with lots of people and adults and children running around When its in violation with safety codes,? A basement what was never built for a matzah bakery,? Doesn't have sprinklers or enough fire exists in case of a fire , in case the matzah oven explodes,? Why are we doing this? Is this called ,,chumress,? Same thing is happening in Williamsburg Brooklyn, there are people doing crazy stuff in there basements to bake their own,,erev pesach matzas,,yes its still happening
