Bnei Brak Girls have to stay inside on Purim even-though Esther is the Heroine of Purim

This year, like every year, posters signed by the fanatic Rabbi of Bnei Brak, Rabbi Moshe Yehuda Leib Landau, have been plastered throughout the city requesting that women, for modesty purposes, not congregate in the streets during the Purim holiday.

The Poster reads:

"From experience on what happens on Purim in the street, I am turning to the parents and educators in (the Land of) Israel to warn girls not to congregate in the streets of the city on Purim. They may celebrate indoors in their homes with their families,”

This year, the poster’s message aggravated MK Ksenia Svetlova (Zionist Union) who demands that the Bnei Brak municipality remove what she calls the "signs of exclusion".

Ksenia Svetlova

"The Purim miracle would not occur if it happened today, as Esther would be imprisoned in her house and so unable to rescue the people of Israel," wrote MK Svetlova on her Facebook page.

Svetlova claims that the Bnei Brak municipality should remove the posters which degrade Jewish culture, heritage and the great women in history,

"Sadly, the prophetess Deborah, Yael the heroine and Ruth the Moabite would not even receive minor recognition should they have lived in today’s Haredi communities."

"Another thing to think about: If such behavior were customary during the time of the Megillah, we would not even hear about Queen Esther, and the miracle of Purim would probably never happen.

I challenge (the public) to share this (Facebook) post, until the humiliating and excluding signs are replaced with calls for all the women and men of the city to celebrate the holiday. The holiday exists thanks to a woman who did not ‘stay away’ from the streets," she added.

  1. What Israel needs is a Donald Trump-like politicians who does not limit his/her comments to standard complaints about Chareidi misogyny.
MK Svetlova should have denounced Yehuda Landau in the strongest terms as a chasid shoteh, menuval and a--hole.
Those derisive sentiments might arouse the anger of many Israelis against these women haters who have more in common with adherents of sharia than the Torah.

  2. The men should be the ones who should stay home on Purim instead of driving drunk and getting blood poisoning from alcohol!

  4. If the religious yidden are so afraid of spontaneously ejaculating at the sight of a fully clothed woman, then our beliefs are not those of normal Human Beings and bear no relationship whatsoever to biblical Judaism. Who gave these 'Rabbonim' the right to change our beliefs to this idiocy?

  6. What a Hippocrates,,Instead of taking off all molesters and rapists from the streets, and making sure that (especially the girls ) will be able to be safe on yom tov purim this year, the yom tov what we call (( simchas purim) instead the rabunim should make a clean up on all this sick sickos who are running after our girls on ( yom tov ) they have the chutzpah and the guts, And asking the girls they should try not to be on the streets in bnie berack, on purim night,? ( because the pedophiles should be able to roll around freely on the streets) not only that but the pedophiles should be able to have a good time purim night,?,and the girls ? They should suffer ? and pay a price ?, for the stupidity of the rabunim,? For not be willing to make an end to the sick pedophiles who are running after our girls on yom tov? But they are asking the girls to stay locked up in there houses purim night, what a chutzpah,? what about the rabunim giving a warning for the pedophiles? If they are being caught rolling around on the streets on purim, and anyone who would be caught running after girls they will be taken off the streets by force,?, or by police,? Why are we giving the wrong massages to the pedophiles,?

  7. To 9:41:

The Rambam also and famously says, that we should always take, not the extreme positions, but the middle road. So also says the Rabbeinu Bachaye, the Shalo Hakodesh, and Shlomo Hamelech himself in Mishlei.
You're stretching your Rambam quote to defend a meshugaas. Nobody is hanging out on streets , men & women & girls, frolicking together, eating, drinking and dancing on a Purim. My grandmother and yours probably got dressed up in Yekeve Gubernia, as did thousands of women before them , throughout the galut in shtetels and cities and walked the streets to greet other Jews and deliver shloach manos.
There are 2 miracles in EY these days. One, that Hashem is saving them every moment from millions of enemies. Two... Hashem is also saving Israel from itself... From MKs, cabinet ministers , be they frum or not, and from religious leaders who on a daily basis attack each other, attack the state, fight all day... AND.. make pronouncements and shtussim vehavolim to get publicity and kovod. How EY withstands this is only due to miracles.
Back to your Rambam.... Since the 800 years from when he lived, please show any ruling from any rav that women should stay indoors on Purim... I've had it up here already...

  8. Am Haaratzim!

The Rambam of shomrim is brought in the later poskim as halacha.

And the Rambam himself says to take an extreme position before you moderate back to the middle.

  9. Maimoni,
Stick to the point... Where are men & women eating, drinking & dancing together in a public venue on Purim?
Don't babble about poskim stam in de velt arein... Connect the dots, mahn... Where is the halacha about Jewish women not going out??
The extreme position that Rambam talks about, Mr. Am Haaretz, only applies to one's own middos... Not to rules by publicity hounds who wants their 15 minutes....
You... keep your mother, daughter and metziah indoors... My women are going outside... In fact, I'm starting early... I already sent my wife out.....

As more you keep/girls/woman/ locked up or as more strict rules you put on girls, worse they will get ,but not better,, girls are not monkeys, you can not keep on putting tuffer and stricter rules on them every single day, it never worked and it will only get worse so to all ( behiemess) stop blaming the ezras nushim for all our problems,,

  12. I love these morons that quote the Rambam when it suits their demented views!
Why don't you quote the Rambam that states that the 3rd Bais Hamikdash has to be built by us?
The Rambam's view is very clear that the 3rd Bais Hamikdash will not come down from heaven but must be built here by us!

To tell women to hide in their homes because some old Rabbi is going to get a hard on is sick!
Women are driving cars, and that will never stop ...wake up and smell the coffee ..

  13. For a shidduch event Chazal are mattir. So what?

Chaim Berlin keeps the female gender away on Simchas Torah & Purim. If you ever saw what used to go on outside, they are 100% right.

    What happened outside?
    Guys met girls, Chas Ve'sholem?
Many of my friends met their ba'sherta outside of Chaim Berlin, there was no shidduch crises then .....
Nothing wrong with guys meeting girls in that setting ...
it should actually be encouraged not condemned!

  15. Ok, we got it straight.... Chazal allowed shidduch hunting on Yom Kippur ( see Chazal how the girls of different looks and financial standings INITIATED the conversations with the bochorim), and Chaim Berlin forbids it on Purim.
Chazal permitted.... and some rabbonim in B.P. also forbade normal conversation on 14th Ave Shabbos afternoons , that went on for years and where shidduchim were made.

    Great job chumriyaaks...!!!!!!

The more I think about it the more I think that Boys & Girls should meet in front of shuls and in front of kosher restaurants ...
This would eliminate the Shidduch Crisis overnight ...
    It's Eis laasos L'Shem!
The guys going out of shul that get evil thoughts in their heads should be with their wives more often!
