Though Purim is coming up....I'm posting this to the
Tzibbur, because it is relevant now!
The following made up dialog between a father and his son regarding Chanuka sounds very funny but actually points to a very big problem in today's society (translated from אבא ליטאי: המכבים היו ציונים):
(S is the son and F is the father)
S - Daddy, how did we defeat the Greeks?
F - With Hashems help
S- So what did the Maccabim do?
F- They were just soldiers. Hashem helped them and with Hashem's help they won
S- The Maccabim were soldiers?
F - Uh ... they were soldiers of Hashem, Hashem's army
S- So the Maccabim where Lubavitchers?
F - No, no, heaven forbid, they were Litvaks
S - Did Yehuda Hamaccabi have weapons?
F - Yes
S - So Yehuda Hamaccabi was a chiloni or a non-Jew?
F - Of course not, why would you think that?
S - But only chilonim and non-Jews serve in the army
F - In those days religious people also served in the army
S - Why did the Maccabim go to the army and we don't?
F - Because our Torah learning protects us
S - And their Torah learning didn't protect them?
F - Maybe you should go learn Mishnayes with Moishe
S - The Maccabim learned Mishnayes?
F - They learned Torah a lot of Torah
S - Did they not work?
F - Chas V' Shalom
S- Did Antiochus give them money?
F - No, they worked
S - What did they do?
F - Matisyahu was a farmer
S - Matisyahu was a Thai?
F - Of course not why would you think he was a Thai?
S - Because all of the farm workers are Thai
S - How did he work in the fields with a white shirt?
F - How do you know he wore a white shirt?
S - Because Moishe said that a real Jew only wears white shirts
S - What did the Maccabim want?
F - They wanted a Jewish state that would be independent
S - Is that we want?
F - Yes but we can't say it, we are not Zionists
S - But daddy, I want to be a Maccabi, Zionist and a soldier
F - Gevald, what happened to you!
I thought you succeeded your goal of being the biggest dumb donkey, i guess it comes with some ingredients which is the biggest dumb donkey with clear proof, and again in case you forgot, VELAMALSHINIM is meant nowadays Zionism and the Zionists
ReplyDeleteNo no the maccabim where ,satmare chasidim the question is only if they where ,aroni chasidim? Or zulis? not tziyonim,?? Ni? Chas veshulem,? Tziyonim,?
ReplyDeleteYechei hamelech!!!
ReplyDeleteS - Daddy, how did we defeat the Greeks?
ReplyDeleteF - With Hashems help
S- So what did the Maccabim do?
F- They were just soldiers. Hashem helped them and with Hashem's help they won
S- The Maccabim were soldiers?
F - Uh ... they were soldiers of Hashem, Hashem's army
S- So the Maccabim where Lubavitchers?
F - No, no, there were no such things as litvaks and chassidim back then. Only torah keeping Jews.
F - Because they had an army which was Kol Kulah Tzaddikim as described in the Peskukim about a real Jewish Army and had no secular agenda pounded into them by the army.
S - And their Torah learning didn't protect them?
F - Of course it did, partially. They also had to fight in their army which was based on Kol Kulo Torah.
S - The Maccabim learned Mishnayes?
F - They learned Torah a lot of Torah
S - Did they not work?
F - Certainly, most worked and a few learned.
S- Did Antiochus give them money?
F - No, they worked
S - What did they do?
F - Matisyahu was a farmer
S - Matisyahu was a Thai?
F - No, back then many Yidden were farmers. They spent most of their days learning and worked some. Only in recent history, when the Gedolim realized that this was no longer an option they had to create the Kollel system for some to sit and learn and not have the ol parnassa on them. Thats what the Rambam calls "Kodesh Kaddoshim"
S - Because all of the farm workers are Thai
S - How did he work in the fields with a white shirt?
F - How do you know he wore a white shirt?
S - Because Moishe said that a real Jew only wears white shirts
F- No, thats wrong. For most of Jewish history we weren't wearing white shirts they had specific type of clothing in there time period. Of course, they dressed differently from the Goyim. In our days, they way the Bnei Torah dress differently from the Goyim is with a white shirt but it was not always this way.
S - What did the Maccabim want?
F - They clearly did not want a Jewish state that would be independent as they were living under Greek rule peacefully in E'Y for years. Only when the Greeks began making Gezeiros against the Torah and Mitzvos did they fight them. They certainly did not care for an independent Jewish state as the only started fighting when the Greeks made gezeiros against the Torah.
S - Is that we want?
F - Yes. We want to live peacefully in E'Y with not gezeiros against the Torah.

For those who say that Moshe Rabbeinu's army was only for the "dor deah"
only for the dor ha'midbar ,....I want you to know that is dangerous thinking and out right Apikorsas!
Because if you extend that logic, then how do I know that we have to hold shabbos, bris kosher etc .... maybe all those mitzvos were only for the Dor Ha'Midbar?
By extension... those who say that the Jewish Armies were only frum Torah abiding Jews, haven't learned Tanach ...
In addition R' Akivah had an army and supported Bar Kochba .... and that army was not comprised of all frum Jews...
they failed but there were many wars that the Jews fought with everyone frum as the gemarrah says but they also failed ....
so having a total frum army does not success make ...
The success is up to Hashem ... but we mortals have to have an army ..
And if your problem is that the army isn't frum ... so why dont you all join in mass and outnumber the chilonim and then let's see!
