The reason is that it is such an important thing to buy the house form a non-Jew because of the mitzva of yishuv eretz yisrael.
In practical halacha it seems to be a bit more complicated, as there are different opinions as to what is actually allowed to be done on Shabbos. It seems only rabbinic laws can be forgone in the purchase on Shabbos, such as telling a non-Jew to sign the papers. Others say that it is so important it is like a part of a milchemet mitzva and anything can be done on Shabbos to successfully acquire the house away form the non-Jew.

While not quite the same level of prohibition or allowance, Rav Elyashiv has recently paskened, according to reports on Kikar, that because the housing crisis has gotten so bad one would be allowed to buy a house during the 9 Days if the opportunity despite the fact that it causes such great happiness. The case involved in the gemora concerns the person who had already purchased a house from a gentile, but the deed had not yet been certified in court. The gemora says that since it involves the mitzvah of yishuv Eretz Yisrael (settling the land of Israel) one may instruct a gentile to draw up the contract and have it certified in a gentile court. The only prohibition involved is 'amira l'akum' (instructing a gentile) which may be waived in face of the mitzvah of yishuv Eretz Yisrael.

I have heard though that much more is permitted when it concerns the purchase of a house in Eretz Yisrael?

It is a fallacy. The Mechaber [1] says that one may purchase a house from a gentile in Eretz Yisrael and have the deed signed and certified in court. The Mishna Berura [2] explains that one may direct the gentile to where the Jew’s money is and the gentile can sign and certify the sale but the Jew may not handle the money and give it to the gentile.

We see that even though handling money is only an issur of muktze, nevertheless one may not handle money in order to make the purchase.
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2633952367455665536.post-381723570355590222014-10-07T19:51:35.714+03:002014-10-07T19:51:35.714+03:0010:53

It is permissible to push aside shvus in order to buy land in Israel from a non Jew on Shabbos (as explained in Gitin 8,b and Baba Kama 80,b see Tosafot there) Dusiznieshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17159854165651441155noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2633952367455665536.post-40371630934425555062014-10-07T17:53:33.449+03:002014-10-07T17:53:33.449+03:00What's the mareh makom in Rambam? What's the mareh makom in Rambam? Is that so?noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2633952367455665536.post-26267738298958874252014-10-07T15:09:12.110+03:002014-10-07T15:09:12.110+03:00To 4:30
