Pro-Landau/Peleg activists staged a protest Tuesday night at 51st Street and 14th Avenue in Boro Park, hurling vulgar slogans at HaRav Moshe Hillel Hirsch shlit”a as guests arrived for the Slabodka Yeshiva dinner.
The Pro_landau chayos spewed rhetoric so crude and dishonorable that even longtime observers of Peleg antics described the display targeting one of the generation’s leading gedolei Torah as “a new low.”
Inside the hall, Rav Moshe Hillel Hirsch — unfazed, unshaken, and wholly above the chaos outside — entered to thunderous singing from a packed crowd. The ovation underscored the deep reverence held for the Slabodka Rosh Yeshiva, a towering gadol whose gadlus b’Torah and decades of hadracha have earned him global reverence.
The protest has drawn strong communal condemnation, with many leaders reiterating that Peleg represents no recognized Torah authority and operates entirely outside normative Jewish life.
To summarize: Harav Moshe Hillel Hirsch shlit”a brought with him Torah and Yiras Shamayim.Peleg brought with them bizayon and chillul hashem.
Listen, I enjoy your blog, and you often make many good points that I agree with. However, in my humble opinion, this particular article is simply fake news. This is clearly Neturei Karta. It has their typical style of protest, complete with their usual posters. One poster even explicitly says “Roshei Yeshivas Slabodka, Hirsch, and Landau.” They use their disgusting language, such as שר"י, when referring to talmidei chachamim and marbitzei Torah, as they often do.
ReplyDeleteAnd by the way, the Neturei Karta not only do sometimes attack Litvaks—as they have done in the past with their shameful demonstrations against Rav Shteinman zt”l—but they themselves are mostly Litvaks who dress in Chassidish-style clothing. Some do so because they are Yerushalmi, and others simply to blend in with the rest.
Do those protesters LOOK Litvish to you??? Neturei Karta absolutely jumps in the fray to rabble rouse in situations like this. They were egging on their Satmar neighbors in south Monsey this week, trying to encourage them to join the protests. And shlepping their kids along is a trademark minhag of Neturei Karta. Don’t you have enough material to badmouth the oylam hayeshivos without having to resort to absurd makeovers of NK into Peleg?

DIN thinks no one knows what’s going on while he creates a hot air fantasy intra-Litvish machloikes, if there was ever a misnomer! Going back decades, check out who the Slabodka Bnei Brak bochurim are who return to America & which table they sit at in the BMG dining room. Every single one of them is Chasidish, more than 90% of them in langeh reckelach! There are probably Lubavs there too altz R’ Dov who don’t go the Lakewood route. Any Litvish bochurim that DIN is trying to pin any machloikes on are figments of his imagination! It must be a pretty sad existence to wallow in a world of all imaginary machloikes, all the time!
