Monsey Mafia "Rabbonim" bully Restaurant

Image result for mafia
Those of you who have lived in Monsey for the past 40 years, can vividly recall the vicious infighting amongst Rabbonim about the Monsey Eirav, when people actually cursed the great poisek and gaon R' Moshe Feinstein z"l, who was asked to get involved halachically and had the 'audacity' to actually pasken. You will also  recall how Monsey "Rabbonim" fought like rabid dogs, as to where to build the community mikvah ...

B"H, the Eirav is now accepted by the entire Monsey community, in itself an accomplishment and a feat that no other community in the entire world could do. The beautiful Monsey Mikvah on Viola is an accomplishment that should bring pride to the community and should be a catalyst to the coming of Moshiach!

So as a community we went through a lot and managed to overcome with time, major hurdles....

Monsey is made up of many families who come from different backgrounds .... and anyone can move to Monsey and nobody says boo!
You can be a Satmar Chusid, a Bobover, a Belz, a Kloizenberger, a Misnaged, Yeshivish, Kipah Seruga, Neturei Karta, Zionists and even OTD .... everyone can find a place and a home in the community!

So as Monsey expands, so do the "Askanim" bullies, who basically want to control the people of Monsey and the kosher establishments, and want to disrupt the peace, the sholem, that we finally were able to accomplish ...
But because of the diversity of the Monsey Community they are frustrated in their evil intent, because there isn't a central Vaad that oversees the Hashgacha of all kosher establishments.... because there is no one in Monsey that would agree on any particular Hashgacha!
For example, The Nirbarter, who lives in Boro Park will not accept Rav Steinmatz from Monsey as a reliable hashgacha. He will not accept R' Weissmandel either ... The Tartikover Hashgacha who also doesn't  live in Monsey will not accept R' Binyomin Gruber's hashgacha etc etc ...and all of them will not accept the most reliable hechsher of all .... the OU!
But they will accept the hashgacha of the Hisachdus Ha'Ganovim!

Each kosher establishment in Monsey hires their own Mashgiach and the consumer chooses whether that Hashgacha fits into their understanding of Kashrus ...

A new Fleishik Restaurant in Monsey opened a few weeks ago and took as their Hashgacha  a highly knowledgeable local Rav, a Rav who actually wrote the book on Kashrus , as their hashgacha!

So "what's the problem?"  you ask?
The "problem is that the restaurant also has a large TV screen that broadcasts baseball, basketball and football games!
So if you have a kid that gets bored of adult conversation he can snack on a hot dog and watch the Mets!

So "what's the problem?"  you ask?

Aren't  chassidim with  long pius and talis katans  watching the games in the Palisades Mall in restaurants that serve Chazir?

Aren't the chassidim watching  games with their bekeshas on friday nights in the Nyack Bars while mingling with goyim, telling their wives they "went to the tish?"

Wouldn't this place at least have them eat kosher food and mingle with other Jews?

You ...naive fool .......you !!!!!

So now sit down if your'e standing ......

Three Chassidishe Thugs walked into the restaurant, a restaurant opened by a 25 year old guy who worked three jobs to realize his dream.... and told him that they represent 14 Chassidish organizations who raised $25,000.00 in order to shut him down if he doesn't remove the TV!

These same 14 "Chassidish Organizations" are currently protecting numerous pedophiles, rapists, and crooks. Their children are rapidly going off  the derech ....and committing suicide at a rate unheard of.

Hey, if you don't like the TV ....don't go there ........

By the way, the restaurant is totally out of the heart of Monsey ......it's actually in Suffern!

These same "Chassidish Organizations" will endanger their own precious children by placing them  in a school that doesn't adhere to fire codes, will build buildings, one on top of the other, with no area for children to play ...and will thumb their fat thumbs at the goyim who are trying to keep Monsey clean and safe!
They also fed their children treif for years in the notorious "Monsey chicken scandal" whose establishment had an hashgacha that was the most stringent ..

The restaurant caved in to these Chassidish "bully" cowards and removed the TV!

Now Monsey will be holy again but watch your kids because the "14 Chassidish Organizations" are protecting your child's potential rapist, a rapist that doesn't watch TV in a Kosher restaurant!

  1. This is a great article. Somethig like this would be perfect for achersmusings.wordpress.com

  2. Your article is rather simplistic. You have bundled together a host of serious issues, and on that basis have decided that since people haven't effectively or appropriately dealt with some major problems, therefore every aspect of their culture and moral system should be allowed to erode. I don't think that there is a simple solution. I don't think that doing away with the prohibition of TV will necessarily solve all of the problems to make Yiddishkeit better and to make the new generation more pious and closer to Hashem.

TV has been a no no in frum circles for over 40 years. It is true that the internet, which presents worse challenges, has dwarfed the TV problem and we have yet to find a viable solution. But does that mean that we should concede? If that is your suggestion, fine , but that might not be the only suggestion, and it is certainly a real issue which needs addressing. As long as we don't have a clear solution, we can't do away with all old values, because we haven't properly replaced them with a well thought out new value system

    1. This is not a discussion of whether TV is allowed or not - this is a question of democracy. If you don't want watch TV you shouldn't go to this establishment. This article has one statement to make; that nobody should use force to coerce anyone to do anything - especially if it isn't a direct issur. You can teach your children where and where not to go, some might even say you can force your children to only attend places that uphold your values but to force someone else to uphold your values - that's wrong and this practice should be stopped immediately.

  3. sorry to hear that he caved. they have a place like that in Cedarhurst area.
We live in America and there is something called competition and all sorts of Jewish people. If someone doesnt like a place then they shouldnt go there. But they have no right to dictate to someone else their way of thinking and then to threaten them. Instead they should be sending out some shlichim into the mall to try to be mekarev back their own kind that is doing all the things they were taught not to do.

  4. What does the TV have to do with the hechsher of the food? You walk into shoprite and there are magazines. I don't see them shaking down the store owner. Plenty of chassidim go there. What are chassidim doing going into Chucky cheese? That's clearly a trait restaurant, yet it doesn't stop them from going. This place is a kosher establishment and they have no right going in there bullying their BS around!

  5. This article spews a lot of hate, but is not well written. The author does not seem to be well educated, yet very opinionated. It would not surprise me if the owner of the restaurant himself, or one of his friends posted this article, and it is a weak article. Go punch a pillow if you need to take out aggression.

    1. What does being educated have to do with having an opinion. You seem to be an extremely misguided person who is confidently promulgating his ignorance. Step off your high horse, sir. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and every human can be as opinionated as he or she wishes. You are "spewing" needless hate and judgment. Stop commenting on the comment of others and go back to your IQ Raising Phone Apps...

  6. Well said! But why remove the TV? Don't want it don't go, but don't allow those to control anyone's life! Everyone can do as they please! Author forgot to mention the bunch of chasidim that go to the XXX store on 59 and park in the back,
Do not let those people decide for the rest of us!

  7. The pathetic thing is that even after the removal of those TV's, if that actually is a permanent action, the right wing Rabbinical establishment (not just Chassidim, but right wing Orthodox Rabbis, whose word is gospel for their congregational followers), having already condemned this new eatery and community venue in their weekly Drashos, are not likely to take back their negative opinion of this business but are more likely to double down in their hate speech and to do their best to cause them to go out of business. Anybody considering using them to cater a party is likely to have second thoughts about it despite the Hashgacha, because of community pressure.

  8. The owner should report these bullies to the police and have them, along with their pieces of shit rabbonim. He should file charges and have them prosecuted to the full extent of the law. As a Monsey resident, this really irks me.

  10. The "bullies" are concerned for one thing, and it is not the taharos of the Jewish people of Monsey. They are concerned about control, their control, of the community. It is about power, petty local power, and nothing more. I will bet you that the members of the va'ad who threatened the store owner probably watch television, and do worse, in their private moments. I remember when this same crowd tried to shut down the Jewish radio station about 20 years ago in Monsey, a station that the Jewish community really liked, a station that featured Jewish stories, Torah learning and more. The attack on the station was vicious. The bullies were not really afraid the radio station would hurt Yiddishkeit. They were worried that some Jews might listen and learn something and maybe start to think on their own. Because control means money. These thugs are interested in control and money and it is a boosha to the community here that people actually care what these obnoxious bullies say.

  11. Great, so tell the Monsey folks to stay out of where they have no authority and not poskin on "eruvim" in Crown Heights. Here in CH the community is united as ever against such uncalled-for interference.

  12. The owner of the Restaurant should have foreseen what would happen, and not have a TV. It's just good for business. Could have predicted the result. That's why many establishments have multiple HASGACHAS to counter any problems. That being said, this has being going on for years from Europe. A self appointed group "TZNIOUS VAAD" goes around making sure everything is "Kosher". The day we stop giving these persons any credence is the day they will stop. Easier said than done because they could have damaged the place or physically threaten the owner. People will go there regardless. Maybe not too many Hasids. The Modern group could careless about the Hasidic cartel. However, these groups are losing their control. Because Hasidim are rebelling.

  13. Look what the local VAAD did to Gourmet Glatt several years ago. The entire 5 Towns from black hat types to jogging on shabbos types marched in lockstep like lemmings & forced a family to sell their business. The fact that the market has been improved and upgraded is immaterial. The right wing shift in all stripes of orthodoxy has instilled fear and apprehension for one reason in this community whether it be newlyweds, empty nesters, young families, widows & widowers: SHIDUCHIM

  14. Now its the TV, tomorrow something else. They will try to push in "their" hasgacha. The bottom line is gelt- money. Payments will be demanded for whatever reason. If you give in now as a good gesture, it wont end here. They smell money.

  16. We, socially, (and especially Jewish orthodox society), buy into all sorts of mafias. We pay the township we are in for permits to build. You can convince yourself that the town wants your safety or whatever, but really, it's mafia. We allow police to ticket our behaviors. Why? Most people buy into believing they are keeping order (until recent unrest). We obey traffic laws. We pay our taxes. We don't litter. We do not park on others lawns. We generally conform to societal norms. We pay for a hashgacha on a store. No one eating by a friends home asks who gives the hechsher. If you trust the homeowner, you eat. If you trust the owners of any particular establishment, you should eat there.

Assuming we allow our behavior to be policed, monitored, or otherwise regulated, why would it shock or outrage people that there is a society that wishes to have their community governed? I know, because "who appointed them?", or because of freedom to do what I chose as an individual, don't tell me where to go.

What the author of this satirical piece, and some of the respondents are not understanding, is that yes, chassidim (as well as others, though the other are harder to identify) go to strip clubs, and bars in Nyack, and wherever else that is frowned upon. But they do not bring it into their homes. That does not make them fake, or liars, or deceitful. It makes them human, with desires and lusts. Being human enough to sin, and embarrassed enough not to bring it home, is normal, even healthy behavior. Everyone knows 'you don't #$%@ where you eat'.

So the real question is, what were these guys thinking opening a bar IN MONSEY? That they could beat the heat? Quite an expensive gamble. Run a red light, if you want a thrill.... Being a pioneer can make you rich, or you can die trying.

  18. I agree. I have been there. The food is GREAT and so is the service. always accommodating, especially for kids. Love the pulled brisket and poppers. But as long as the TVs are gone, I will not go there. We, the tzibur needs to take a stand, and this is where I take mine. Even tho I realize other establishments cave in behind the scenes all the time, this is too flagrant to ignore. sorry owners, you just lost my business. People who really care about not having a TV do not go by Rabbi Bleich's hasgocha anyhow. Please don't force me to take my family to the Doghouse in Teaneck everytime we want a fun night out.

  19. To Anonymous 11:24. Stop your BS. The "HASId" that visits strip joints and do not bring it home are miscreants and low lives. Because you have desires doesn't mean it's an excuse. These miscreants and low lives would bring it home if they could. Also, they do not have to wear their Hasid levush and Rabanu tam undies when they do sin. They like holding on to the Sharitz (Rat) while immersing in the mikvah. There's a name for that, Menuval. They are low lives who think that they are so smart until they get found out and then cry that it's the "internet" made them do it. Do not give these low lives excuses. There are plenty of people with desires who are men, and not "chader" boys who give foolish excuse for being a low life. They never grew up and remain boys there entire life. They are ruining Hasidus from the inside out. Their days of false hood is over. We know who you are. Lowlife miscreants. It does effect families. They eventually get found out, and become an embarrassment to their families. These miscreants claim, "I have mental problems". They run and claim the "internet" made me do it". Stop your BS. There are plenty hard working Hasidims who not go out partying behind their wives and Rebbes backs. But these lowlives just ruin Hasidus. Take your RABANU TAM Underwear off if your going to sin. Please. Your bekisha is for shul, not for a strip club. Have some decency. Your a Lowlife and we know who you are. Believe it or not your wife knows who you are and so do your kids. Eventually you will be found out. Believe it or not the internet did not make you do it. It's because your a low life without shame.

  21. The thugs who push around local Jewish businesses have no authority. No one elected them, and they don't have the right to harass and intimidate Jewish people in our community. This is a type of extortion. It is repulsive and backwards and until we take a stand against these thugs, our community will continue to deteriorate. How many kids in Monsey are not only OTD, but drug addicts, and suicide victims? It wasn't like this 30 years ago The reason is we have lost sight of what it means to be Jewish. We should not tolerate these thugs and bullies in our community. I urge the restaurant to put the TV back on the wall to tell the thugs in the black clothes to go to hell.

  24. I'm confused, did the certifying Rabbi say he would withdraw the hashgacha unless the owner removed the TV? If mot, why did he remove the TVs? He had to know there would be opposition to a sports bar/restaurant but as long as he had the hashgacha - who cares? If the certifying rabbi ordered the removal to keep the hashgacha, doesn't the give the hashgacha on Doghouse? How can he order one to remove and not the other? Please provide a few more details. If we are going to protest these thugs, we should at least know the certifying rabbi's culpability in this.

  30. If the owner was smart he would stand up to these shmuks and keep the TV's. If you don't want to go to the restaurant because of the TV then don't go. There are plenty of other restaurants in Monsey that have no TV's and are a "kosher" environment. They have mechitzahs that separate the restaurant from the bar and that is called catering to everyone's needs. A sports bar isn't a sports bar without a TV

    ReplyDelete
  31. Ben P. (see above) brought up the hashgocha provided to this establishment. He was hitting close to the mark. If it was known to them that there would be TV's playing sports events and other related media (i.e. immodest ads & worse), then how could anyone consider the hashgocha's opinion in the first place? Though it is certainly NOT the case in other communities, "kosher" in Monsey is expected to reflect not just the kashrus of the food, but all other activities that take place at a given establishment. Admittedly, it's not a realistic goal. But it is a well established standard that has been in place here for decades. It is a standard that is appreciated by many diverse groups of Yidden in the town, including just about anyone who dons a black hat, streimel or shaitel. Let's be honest about it...there was a lot of hate rhetoric in the article above, and dredging up the weaknesses of struggling individuals in the community who have fallen prey to the various treif attractions nearby does nothing to solve the issue, and only shows the writers misunderstandings. Yes, of course...if someone doesn't like the place, then don't go in. But this sports bar attraction is just another distraction/challenge like others...only with food that just happens to be kosher. Somewhere above, there was a comment about this being a democratic country, so anyone who wants to open shop (even close to an established religious community), and in this case a restaurant with a bar with TV, should be able to do so. Perhaps. But an insightful business person will research the demographics of the community in which they intend to operate. This is where I believe a mistake was made.

What about all those children not knowing where there next meal is coming from? What about those children that have been hurt emotionally, sexually, physically? These kids cry every night to sleep thinking of how they are going to commit suicide. You people make me sick. So so so sad to see that this is what your talking about. Your all worth less then the shvartsah next door. Your all so sick and pathetic. 35. They have a new one. Rabbi Blech, I believe, caved in to pressure to pull his hashgacha. They are now under Rabbi Aron Lankry, apparently impervious to pressure.

I've been there numerous times. There is nothing wrong with the place that I can see. That's exactly the point. No rav in the Ramapo area (or any area) nowadays has halachic or legal authority to impose rulings or take actions seeking to diminish or destroy someone's livelihood (and those who's livelihoods depend on it) for something that is not halachically forbidden. For ill or not, gone are the days of a local Beit Din, drawing authority from a central Supreme Sanhedrin, who can impose, with force, rulings upon a community. Ultimate authority actually stems from the peoples' willingness to accept a rabbinic or Beit Din ruling, plain and simple. There has been no ruling here, and certainly no overall acceptance of the viewpoint and actions of the rabbanim attempting to transform or shut BH down.

Go, enjoy, and have a good (kosher, to me) time. Or don't go. Up to you. Stop the bullying. It's that simple.
